Please pay a marshal

Love this course, but today was an overwhelming disappointment. Our round took an excruciating 5+ hours - literally waiting on every single shot. I get that COVID has increased the number of weekend golfers but Shadow Glen appears to overbook their tee sheet and has no starter and no marshal to keep things moving. You've raised prices, now can you please pay someone to monitor pace? Otherwise, things were ok with exception of the fairways which looked like they hadn't been mowed since Thursday or Friday.

Thank you for your feedback, and apologies that you did not have a better experience. We are aware that pace of play has been inconsistent and we are committed to solving this problem. Due to it being cart path only yesterday morning this had a negative impact on pace of play. We are ALWAYS trying to improve and we hope to see you out again soon!

Is it too Hard to ask for an Aeration Advisory???

Course was in fine shape except the greens were an absolute mess. Looked like they were punched that day and with deep-tine aeration and a full sand overlay. I don't know if it's the fault of GolfNow or of ShadowGlen for not posting any sort of advisory anywhere (there website had nothing and all contact with GolfNow was void of any warning).

I get that this is a necessary procedure. I have no problem with it. What I do have a problem with is absolutely zero notification. There is literally no chance I would have paid $27 to play this course today if I had known the green conditions. They are unplayable.

I'd be happy to take this post down if I can get some kind of communication from either GolfNow or ShadowGlen to rectify the situation. Super disappointing.

Best public course in Austin

I moved out to Austin a couple months back and have been playing a regular weekly round with friends. We've tried to mix it up by playing as many of the public courses in the area and I can very confidently say, Shadow Glen hands-down is the gem of the bunch (and for the price it isn't even really close).

The layout (we played one box up from the tips) presented a long, diverse challenge with many narrow tree lined fairway targets. A good mix of long 4's, winding 5's and interesting 3's made for a round that challenged mentally as well as physically. All this being said they still provide some easier holes to give you a chance to breathe, but it's a course that will punish you if you lose focus.

Fairways have been kept in very playable shape considering the TX summer heat, but the real differentiator of this course is the greens. They play fast but roll true - something which I can't say about any of the other publics I've played here. Between staff upkeep and player's being cognizant of fixing their divots (for the most part) they compare to some of the better public course greens I've played in Northern CA.

Granted, I have not yet gone out to play Falconhead or any of the Barton Springs courses, but I honestly can't see a better public golf value than Shadow Glen.
