Martin Downs Country Club - Osprey Creek Course
Played On 02/11/2023Fair
Nice staff. No driving range, two nets to hit into off of mats. Both golf carts had brake issues. Weeds and bare spots everywhere. Greens were okay but fairly slow. I guess for $50 on a weekend in season is most attractive feature.
Atlantic National Golf Club
Played On 10/09/2020Nice layout, lousy pro shop staff, bad management
Went to play an afternoon round and after 2 holes the skies opened up for 30 minutes to where there was standing water on the green and fairway. Radar showed a long line of showers moving in over the course. Went back in to inquire about a rain check and along with the dozen or so others were told no rain checks would be issued unless the superintendent closes the course. I was welcome to wait until they made that decision.
I chose not to wait, I would have accepted a 9 hole rain check, since obviously getting anymore golf in was not going to be likely. As I am writing this, about 90 min after leaving the course, it is still raining. The pro shop attendant's excuse that it is a private course and those are the rules again not really showing that they care about anything other than whatever revenue they can capture. Won't be returning...
Miami Springs Golf & Country Club
Played On 12/03/2017The times have changed
The course plays up the fact that it was the home to a PGA tour stop 60 years ago. Those days are long gone. This is a bland course with not much variety and conditions are poor. There was more sand in the fairways than there is grass. The course is pretty long and there are few tee box options. We played standard Men’s tees (white) and had that left us with a number of par 4s that played in excess of 410 yards so if you don’t hit your driver at least 250, you are going to have a lot of long iron and fairway wood approach shots. There is also a par 3 on the back 9 that was playing 230 with an elevated green that stopped anything from running on that lands just short. The greens were decent, fairly slow and a bit bumpy but probably the best part of the course.
Eagle/Osprey at Okeeheelee Golf Course
Played On 04/17/2017Another good PBC public course
One of a group of courses managed by Palm Beach County Parks. Good variety of holes, distances layouts. Course is in good condition with fairways and greens nicely maintained. Nice practice facility. ONLY DRAWBACK WAS THAT whoever was placing the pins must have been angry because quite a few were on or just below decent downhill slopes, if you were above the hole, there was no way of keeping the put from running out 4-5 feet past unless you hit the hole. Since it was my first time here, I was not aware that this was the case. The facility has 3 9's and we played Heron-Eagle.
It sounds like you'll have to come back to check out Osprey, our third nine-hole course! Thanks for playing and for leaving a review. See you soon.
Madison Green Country Club
Played On 04/13/2017Has potential but not at street prices
Played as a single and played the round alone as I could not be paired up with anyone else. Course conditions are average for a public course in the general area. I lost a few shots hitting to areas that I thought were safe but turned out to be either heavily sloped towards a hazard or had a hazard that was not apparent. Could be quite a challenging layout for casual golfers as there is a bit of target golf and some forced carries. I saw that usual rates to play here approach $100 and for the setting and course conditions, I would say that this is way too much. Not bad for the $40 I paid, but definitely not worth the standard "season" fees.
Atlantic National Golf Club
Played On 04/10/2017One of the best in the area
I have played Atlantic National a number of times in the past 2 years. The course is usually in above average condition relative to other public courses in the area. The layout is varied and challenging. There is a nice mix of long and short holes the only exception is that all of the par 3's are typically the same club except for the 4th hole which is shorter. The only issue is that the course gets a lot of play and can get stacked up, I have never played there without having to wait at some point in the round on groups in front of us. All of that being said, it is one of the best options in southern Palm Beach County.
Thank you Craig3025334 for your review. We appreciate your comments and thank you for your continued business. We look forward to your next round!
Red/Blue at Westchester Golf & Country Club
Played On 03/26/2017Funky
Course was in good shape, but many of the holes were sharp dog legs around bodies of water. Almost seemed like they didn't have enough land to layout the course so there would be a variety. The course conditions and staff were good and are not the reason I am not recommending the course, it's just that there are many better options in the area and the pricing at Westchester is above the norm for a pretty ho hum track.
Played the blue tees, only about 6000 yds. Course would be very frustrating for beginners, there is a lot of water and a few forced carries, and IMO it would be boring for the better player,....
Wellington National Golf Club
Played On 04/01/2016Okay for the money, not worth a drive
Course layout isn't bad, conditions were not great. Fairways were shaggy with weeds in many spots. Greens rolled okay, but were uneven and had quite a bit of damage. Bunkers also were not in great shape and apparently not too many of the previous players knew how to use a rake. They have a driving range, but again it is quite chewed up. Even though this is definitely not going to be mistaken for a resort course, all in all, playing offseason for $25 including cart made up for the very average or below average course conditions.
East at Jacaranda Golf Club
Played On 08/23/2015I'd play here again
Went off as a twosome at 11:26 on Sunday morning. Payed $50 for greens fees and cart for 18 holes. Range balls were $9. The starter gave us divot forks with course name on them with our cards. Nice touch. Carts have nice GPS system included. Driving range and putting greens are right by starter's booth, convenient location and hit half a bucket before play. There are 5 sets of tees and we decided to play forward tees #4 which brought the course yardage to about 5750 yards. I would not do this again as a lot of the holes lost a bit of character and almost every par 4 we played was from a very similar yardage 290-320 yards. That being said we were able to play every ball down since the conditions were very good and the greens were very true and rolled great.
Course was very straightforward and aside from bunkering and was not too demanding. We did get stuck behind some foursomes playing from back tees and they struggled quite a bit which slowed things down so it took us about 4:45 to finish the round.
Staff was very professional and helpful.
Thanks for playing at Jacaranda! Great to hear to staff was helpful and we're glad you enjoyed the nice touch of the divot forks! We hope you come back again and hopefully don't get stuck being a foursome!
