16 hole average course

Unfortunately I was extremely disappointed with my visit to Bury Golf Club. I was notified mid way through our round that 2 holes were currently closed for refurbishment. This was frustrating as we wouldn’t have booked to play this course had the club notified teeofftimes that this was the case. The overall condition for the time of year was fairly good, although there was an awful lot of debris on the greens which made it impossible to make anything. The 150 markers had also been taken out and were left on the ground in locations that my view ranger proved were often incorrect. I don’t believe in summer that this would be great course. There were far too many blind tee/approach shots, and the holes appear to have simply been designed to fit into the land as oppose to have Brennan designed to a professional standard. To summarise, I will not be returning.

This review is hilarious!

Bury was designed by Alister MacKenzie, the greatest golf course architect ever to have lived! The whole point of designing a golf course is to fit the land, and if that involves a few blind shots - so be it.

I suggest that the reviewer sticks to boring tree-lined flat farmers' field golf courses, of which there are are many.

Bury is a great course to be savoured by connoisseurs.
