Oakville Executive Golf Course - Mystic Ridge
Played On 07/12/2016Mystic Ridge
Oakville executive is one of the best executive par 3 courses around the gta area. The location is not too far away from Toronto so the drive time is not too demanding even with traffic . Despite the dryness / lack of rain the greens are in good condition the rough can be challenging when it's grown. It will allow you to practise all shots at various holes. The 18 hole mystic ridge is easy to walk and the 9 hole Angel course will challenge you from the back tees with the forced carries and water in strategic areas. Despite not having a driving range yet ( let's hope they can fix that) the value for the money is perfect for this course that always tries to overachieve . The clubhouse is also large enough to host small functions yet modern and spacious enough not to make you feel like you have to leave right away. If they only were to add some large screen tv's I'm sure they would have more patrons hanging around at the " peverbial 19th hole".
Hornby Glen Golf Course
Played On 07/08/2016Billing practises need to be corrected
It's difficult to recommend a golf course that has such suspect billing practises.
Previous time playing at Hornby Glen there was a billing problem that took 15 minutes to resolve . This time around there was a billing problem again. When it was brought to the attention of the agent behind the desk , I was told that my golf now booking price was wrong and I had to take it up with golf now.im not sure sure who is wrong , however as a consumer I shouldn't have to chance down a billing disagreement between golf now and Hornby Glen.
I can say that the outside staff (marshalls , starters, wait staff, cart ladies) were courteous , professional and friendly. Too bad that the inside staff ruined the experience.

I wasn't expecting much for an October rainy day, I was just looking to practise some wedge plays. I was pleasantly surprised when I saw the greens were running so smooth straight and still very firm considering the weather conditions that we just played the full 18 holes
The fairways were in just as good a shape without any kind of leaf problems normally expected of fall day course play.
The greens were in much better shape then other courses around the area. The ball was even bouncing quite high and firmly, such that you had to adjust for the bounce and release and again this is in October in Canada during a wet day. The only complaint I can throw at this course is that the tee boxes were a little roughed up.
Kudos to the greens staff. Keep up the good work.
Devlin.
