Harburn Golf Club
Played On 04/27/2018Early spring condition
Like most inland courses in Scotland Harburn was three or four weeks behind in condition because of the awful weather. We got a lovely day to play, completely untroubled by any other golfers. It was quite balmy with little wind. The course was still largely in winter conditions but should be fine by the third week in May.
An enjoyable day but seaside is the place to be in Scotland for golf throughout the year. Rain and snow is rapidly making inland golf a something like five month of the year good experience for most places.
Harburn is an interesting layout and the staff and catering are good though we didn't go into the clubhouse on this occasion.
Longniddry Golf Club
Played On 03/13/2018For March it was excellent
I know Longniddry well and it was nice to see it in such good nick early in the year. Greens were good though the pins were in awkward , tucked away spots on many holes which tested two veterans. The day was flat calm and we wandered round at our own pace.
The staff in the pro shop could not have been friendlier or more accommodating. All in all a wonderful day and I can recommend the course to anybody.
Falkirk Tryst Golf Club
Played On 10/10/2017Excellent
Course was in first rate order for the time of year .Greens had been scarrified but were still fast and true. We played at our own pace and, despite loads of rain in days leading up to our game the course had no evidence of water lying anywhere.
Staffin the clubhouse and the pro shop were polite and friendly. You should visit soon.
Milnathort Golf Club
Played On 09/20/2017Excellent
The number of people I've mentioned Milnathort to, since Tuesday, and none of them knew about it. It's a wee gem of a nine holer in excellent condition and a quality feel about everything; from the conditioning of the course, the immaculate clubhouse, to the friendliness of the staff and the quality of the food and its value for money.
Excellent day we three seniors had ( and we are all experienced, decent players) and we will be back.
Maybe the one thing we got confused about was the flags. There are some
double greens and, I think, you play to the yellow flag first time on the doubles and to the red the second time. I'm probably wrong there but it could be easier to follow although I am in my eighth decade and ......
This latter did not detract from our great day.
Well done Milnathort , thank you and keep up the good work
North Inch Golf Club
Played On 09/19/2017Good course
North Inch was a lot better than I thought it might be. We got a beautiful day and an untroubled round wth no hold ups. What could have been better? Well maybe the 19th of September was a bit early for the greens to have been heavily tined and top dressed. Increasingly inland courses are becoming precious about their greens and probably inland courses only have 4 to 5 months of acceptable playing conditions. Maybe I am lucky in being a Dunbar member where greens are near perfect for 12 months a year.
Still Tuesday was a good day on a nice course with staff who are friendly and helpful.
