Rams Hill Golf Club
Played On 01/16/2024Very disappointing
Based on all the reviews, we were very excited to try out Rams Hill. We drove down from Palm Springs, landed at the course and went to the putting green. Immediately, you could see a few things weren't as good as all the previous reviews had indicated. There were obvious brown patches as we looked down the first fairway, and the practive green was like painted old school artificial turf. Unfortunately this was pretty common for the entire round. There were number ous dead spots in the fairways - particularly on the front nine - some even roped off. On multiple occasions I had to move my ball off dead areas in the middle of the fairway. While not the worst thing in the world - not what you'd expect at the price point. To be fair, if you did find any green grass on the course you were pretty much guaranteed a fantastic lie.
As for the greens, they were like painted concrete. Unless you are a superstar with your irons, it's almost impossible to stay below the hole unless you land well short of the green. Luckliy there are a lot of backstops that will bring a long shot back towards the hole. The greens are so tight, it's like putting on that old school astroturf carpeting, and they have colorized them to look green. They did roll very true and there was barely a bounce to be found - but if you don't stay below the hole, a 2-putt is a good outcome.
The staff were mostly pleasant, the starter in particular, but nowhere near the glowing reviews of previous posters. The tacos at 14 - meh. But when you are in the middle of a 5 hour round, you take what you can get.
This course should NEVER take five hours to play. The fairways are for the most part open and generous. Didn't have to look for a ball once. You should be able to get in and out in 4 hours. But, with no marshall, and a foursome two groups ahead of us who thought they were Arnie and Jack and greens, bam - 5 hour round.
Overall, just a very disappointing experience. Based on all the reviews, we thought this would just be a homerun. But unfortunately, the fairways and greens made this the weakest of the 9 courses we have played on our trip to San Diego and Palm Springs. The layout really is fantastic though, and if the fairways and greens were in better shape, it would have been an awesome experience.
We had such high hopes and really felt Rams Hill was the worst bang for our buck on the trip.
Ute Creek Golf Course
Played On 05/05/2023Worth a Visit
Like every other course it seems in Colorado, Ute Creek had a tough winter. But the course has really rebounded nicely. Aside from unobtrusive brown spots in the fairways, the course was in really good shape. The tee boxes were fine and the greens rolled true. Just stay out of the sand, some of the bunker shots require you covering a lot of beach in order to get on the green. All of the staff were really friendly and the people we were paired with were great. Overall, a real nice day of golf with some awesome views of the Rockys in the distance.
Thank you so much for the great review. We are glad you had an incredible time, and we hope to see you again soon! Thanks for choosing Ute Creek Golf Course.
Pinehills Golf Club - Jones Course
Played On 05/10/2022First Time Back in a While - Meh
After playing there I just can't reconvile our experience with the majority of reviews. The fairways and greens don't seem to have woken up yet resulting in tight lies everywhere and and really slippery greens. Both greens and fairways had more of yellow tint than green. Hopefully it will get better when it finally warms up. Hadn't played Jones in a while and the development has really exploded. Before you felt like you were in the woods playing a round, now you feel like you are in a development on alot of the holes. Layout is beautiful with many really nice holes. Facility has great practice facilities. Starter was really friendly. Winds didn't help, especially when trying to putt on the really tight greens. Above the hole and you were done. Even with the Hot Deal, the value just wasn't there. Maybe in another month.
Cranberry Valley Golf Course
Played On 05/05/2022First Time. Won't be the Last.
For the time of year, this course is WAY ahead of some of the other courses in the area (Captains, Pine Hills). Everything lush, lies fantastic, greens true. Only draw back is that is pricy.
Esplanade at Azario Lakewood Ranch
Played On 03/10/2022Expected More
I wanted to love this course, but it just doesn't live up to the price point. First of all, every staff member was really frienfly and professional. They were really great. Practice facility is perfect for warming up and range balls are included - it'a water range. The first tee is away from the hustle and bustle of the clubhouse so that's nice - and the tee boxes and fairways were just immaculate. Almost impossible to get a bad lie in the fairways (which are quite generous) or first cut. To this point, you're probably wondering how it doesn't marry up with the price. Basically, it's the greens. Really surprised how short and hard they were - like razor stubble with sand and green fertilizer mixed in. The fertilizer seems to be giving the greens just as much color as the grass itself. They rolled pretty well, but - as a lot of other reviewers noted - the undulations on most of them just seem way to exaggerated. The only thing missing on #10 is the clown's mouth. If you don't hit the perfect spot on the green, you are going to have a brutal first put if you are outside of 15 feet. It's just a tough combination of ridges, valleys and slippery rolls. To have any chance to score, do not go above the hole - on any of them!

Waterlefe Golf & River Club
Played On 05/17/2021Just Fantastic
This course is just beautiful. It's a little dry in spots right now, but it doesn't effect any lies or rolls on the green. I can only imagine how beautiful this course would be with a little rain to help it out.
Every hole is unique so you never get bored. Water in play just about everywhere, but it is fair and manageable. Lots of boardwalk cart paths which are really cool.
Very friendly staff, nice aqua range, just no putting green right now as they redo it. Definitely worth a visit to this fantastic track.
Riverwood Golf Club
Played On 05/16/2021Beautiful Track
Conditions really excellent despite dry weather. Some brown spots, but lies were fantastic everywhere. Greens were fast but fair. Really a georgous track. Not easy by any means, so be prepared. If you get a Hot Deal the value is amazing.
Forest Glen Golf & Country Club
Played On 05/12/2021Just Perfect
The conditions of this course are incredible from tee to green. Was by far the lushest course we played during our trip.
Not too long or difficult - just a nice course, in great shape, with friendly staff.
Worth the trip - a great value.
Lely Resort Golf & Country Club - Flamingo Island Course
Played On 05/11/2021Closing Soon for Maintenance and it Shows
Just a tremendous disappointment. Conditions were just average and not nearly worth even the Hot Deal price. They are closing this course down for a couple of months to put in new irrigation and more, and it just appears they are trying to grab as much as they can without putting anything back in. We've played 6 courses since we have been down and this is by far the most disappointing.
Heron Creek Golf and Country Club - Oaks/Marsh Course
Played On 05/15/2021Hard as a Rock
If you like concrete fairways, linoleum greens, and ridiculous pin placements, then this course is for you. I imagine with a little water it would be beautiful. But right now it’s just like playing on green rock. Try turning in the sprinklers every now and then.

Your feedback is extremely important to us. It is always our utmost goal to provide our golfers with a fun and enjoyable time and apologize if we missed the mark. Quarry Ridge Golf Course
Played On 09/15/2019Really a Great Track
Quarry Ridge is not a long course, but it more than makes up for it with tight landing areas, and deceivingly tricky greens - not to mention the downhill and uphill lies you get do to the slopes associated with being built in an old quarry. Course conditions were fantastic, and staff was very friendly. Some of the views are really great.
Overall, just a great round of golf. We got paired with a single who knew the course and that helped ALOT. Just a great day of golf - perfect weather, beautiful course, great playing partner, friendly staff.
You wish every round could be like this one.
Fox Hopyard Golf Club
Played On 09/14/2019Everything Was Great - Except for the Greens
Fox Hopyard is a really great track. Visually appealing, challenging, and overall in great shape - except for the greens. They have been punched, but that wasn't the problem. Something has had their way with them, leaving a bare spots on just about every one. They still rolled pretty well though, so it was more of an aesthetic problem - leaving them not up to the standard of the rest of the course. Staff was super friendly, and pace of play was excellent. It was a cloudy day with the threat of rain, so that might of helped.
If you hit the fairway, you are pretty much guaranteed a great lie. Not an easy task on some of the holes. For $49, we felt it was pretty much the right price point. If the greens were a little better, it would be an absolute steal. Hopefully they'll bounce back quickly. Still, a very enjoyable round!
Thank you for sharing your experience, stocklobster! We appreciate your feedback and kind words for our staff that is working hard to get the course into the shape our golfers have come to expect. Next week's maintenance should be just what we need, and we hope you'll make another trip out to see the improvements before the season ends!
Sandwich Hollows Golf Club
Played On 07/03/2019Would have taken 6 hours - if we had finished
We have played Sandwich before - and if it's crowded you can expect a long round. This round was ridiculous though. No carts when we arrived so we teed off a little late. No big deal. Then, it took 3 hours just to play the front nine. There was no sense to suffer through another 3 hour 9 so we packed it in. Add to the fact there is absolutely NO water on the course and there was no beverage cart making the rounds. They don't allow you to bring your own cooler, so your only relief is to go into the clubhouse at the turn and wait for the bartender to sell you drinks out of a locked cooler. The course is in real nice shape, but this was just an all around mess of a round.
Hi, stocklobster. Thank you for reviewing the course. Let us first start by apologizing for the delay of play during your round. This is by no means the standard we strive to achieve. We are going to escalate your feedback to our team so we can make improvements before your next game. We are glad to see you rated the course conditions and value to be great during your game. We will continue to work towards an excellent experience by using your comment for guidance. Thank you for playing Sandwich Hollows Golf Club. We hope to see you again soon.
The Quarry Golf Course
Played On 11/06/2018Great Experience Start to Finish
Just a great day of golf. Friendly staff, course was in great condition, decent pace of play. Fun course that gives you four tee box choices - if you choose the right one, the course is very fun and manageable. Links on the front nine and the quarry in the back makes it feel like you are playing two different courses. The quarry nine is very scenic and challenging. The tee shot on 17 is terrifying - requiring a long carry on the diagonal over the quarry to a very narrow landing area, and 18 is no bargain either. Hit those two fairways and you can say you accomplished something. Otherwise there are generous landing areas. Didn't have a bad lie all day. Just keep it out of the tall grass. Highly recommended.
Sandwich Hollows Golf Club
Played On 07/13/2016Slow, slow, slow
Have played this course multiple times. The pace of play last season was fine, this year, not so much. Played on a two weekday afternoons in the past couple of weeks - fivesomes, guys lining up putts like it's the 72nd hole at the Masters, entire foursomes looking for a ball in the woods, before then having to go look for their own ball. There's just no effort to keep the round moving. Traps don't get raked and some of the tee boxes are just complete goners. The course itself is a nice challenge. Lots of undulations, greens are in nice shape, and the woods are punishing but give you a chance to scramble. The value is definitely there, but when you can't even get through 18 in 5+ hours on a weekday, something's wrong. If you are lucky enough to get out without getting stuck behind some meddling groups, it is one of the best bargains out there - it's just luck of the draw.
Winding Hills Golf Club
Played On 04/12/2016Just a Great Little Course
This course is a little gem. Always in great shape. Super friendly staff and owners. Feels like your own personal golf course. Very short, but the greens do a good job making up for it. Great place to relax and play a nice laid back round.
Rocklobster, I'm very sorry we didn't meet your expectations.. We take great pride in providing great experiences for our customers. This past summer we put in all new greens as a part of a 2-year multimillion dollar re-grassing plan. This summer we will convert all fairways and roughs to a new variety of bermudagrass as our commitment to providing the best playing conditions possible is a core value of our Team. Again, I'm sorry we failed to meet your expectations and hope that you will give us another opportunity. Please feel free to reach out to me with questions.
