Beautiful course that is a little rough at this point in April.

My 14 year old son and I played the Woodlands for the first time and thought that the course was very beautiful. The course has lots of water (12-13 holes by my count) and I love courses with water views. I was impressed by the layout and challenge of the water, but the course if very short (6,120 from the tips).

Even though it is very early in the season for Michigan golf, the greens and bunkers were in BAD shape. The greens had been aerated. All you could do was just try to get it near the hole with your first putt. The ball would often leave the putter face on line and take a detour left or right. The bunkers were hard, bare and muddy in many spots. I decided a while back that I will not try to play out of bunkers like that anymore.

We paid $13 for 18 with a cart using GolfNow so the price was great for Saturday golf, but I would have been upset if we had paid more to play with the course in this kind of shape. We will be back in a few months when there are leaves on the trees, smooth greens and sand in the bunkers. But, again, that's the great thing about GolfNow. You can try out courses for a low price so no matter what you encounter, you get to play a lot of golf for the money.

Sandy Creek is a hidden gem.

I played Sandy Creek for the first time with a GolfNow hot deal at only $10 per person. This is more like a $30 course. The course is beautiful, manicured, challenging (with well placed bunkers and lots of trees), not very crowded and has very nice greens. My playing partner guided me around the course and we had a great time. The staff and ranger were very friendly and the food was good and did not cost an arm and a leg. I'm adding this course to my rotation. If you're anywhere near Monroe, you'll want to play this course because it's a gem.

Good value for the price we paid for Saturday golf

Bello Woods is an interesting course with 3 different 9's. We played the White and Gold courses. The White is very straight with some water that comes into play. The greens on the White course are out of this world. They were in good shape, but severely sloped--some had hills! I would need to put on those a few more times to get it down. A golf outing was about to start so we were moved to the Gold course--what a difference. The Gold course has sharp doglegs, tight, wooded fairways, and a lot of hidden water. Both courses were a little soggy. The carts were a little underpowered. Because the three 9's are all on one big piece of property, you will have golf balls flying all over the place so watch out. I liked the courses overall and we only paid $14 per person to golf on Saturday so I felt it was quite a bargain. I'm sure we'll play here again.

Challenging course, but fun to play

I enjoyed my round at Westwynd. The course is upscale and well maintained with lots of beautiful homes around the course (you will not hit them, though). I liked the cobblestone cart paths, GPS in the carts and scenic fairways/holes. There are not many water hazards on the course. This was my first time playing and prior course knowledge would have helped. My friend had played before so he gave some guidance. Otherwise, you need to play here 3-5 times to get the layout in your memory. I lost a lot of balls because I did not know where all the marsh and hazard areas were ahead of my shots. The fairways are open enough so that if you keep your shots in (and hit the landing targets) you have a good shot at scoring well. If you spray the ball all over the place, you will have a lot of penalty strokes. The greens rolled true and were challenging. The course is not easy, but well worth the $32 for the hotdeal price on GolfNow.

We love to play Huron Hills.

I played Huron Hills for the third time and brought my 13 year old. We were both very impressed by the course and facilities. The course is just over 5,000 yards from the longest tees, but all 7 par 3 holes are relatively long (136 to 231 yards; with 5 holes over 169) so it makes for a nice mix and makes up for some of the short par 4 holes on the back 9 (4 par 4 holes between 239 and 276). Although, those short par 4's are a lot of fun because you have the opportunity to drive the green 4 times (plus the 231 par 3 number 4). The course is well maintained with lots of mature trees, undulating fairways, elevated tee boxes and the greens were in excellent shape. The staff was very friendly. The course is a great place to take a child who is learning the game. I belive this will become my go to course when I'm golfing with my son. Oh, and it's usually $10-$20 per person with a cart through GolfNow.com (nice!).

Challenging course buts lots of fun

This was my first time playing Stonebridge. It is very challenging for several reasons. There is water in play on over ten holes. The greens are sloped and some have two tiers. The rough eats your ball when you hit into it. With all that being said, I like the course a lot. The water makes for a very pretty course, the greens are well maintained and I need to hit better shots and stay out of the rough (and the grass in the rough was not long, just thick). I will be back to play here in the future and the $32 I paid through GolfNow on a Saturday was worth it considering the quality of the course. You really have to think through your shots and work to score well. The pace of play at over five hours was really our fault because our foursome played slowly.

Nothing special, but the price was right

We played at Warren Valley on a Saturday as a twosome. The GN price of $18 was very reasonable to play anywhere on a weekend. There had been alot of rain so I was worried about water on the course, but it really was not bad. The course in general is in average condition. The rough is very bumpy and you feel like you're offroading in your cart. The greens were sloped and mildy challenging. What I didn't care for with the course is how close together the three 9's are. Golfers were all over the course like ants and you frequently had people on your hole hitting their stray shots or oncoming golfers hitting into you as you tried to take a second or third shot. The holes are mostly straighforward with a few doglegs here and there and some elevation changes. For the money it's a fun place to play.

Good experience for the first time playing Sanctuary Lake.

Sanctuary Lake is something of a links style course. It has lots of elevation changes that make the course interesting. There are a few water holes, but not much water comes into play overall. The greens are fairly straightforward without too many level changes. I liked the course because you have some margin for error when driving and hitting second shots, but the course is not easy (as if any course is easy for me). The course was well maintinged through the brutal Michigan winter we had. We will be back here to play again. My only critique is that the tee times were not spaced out well and it caused a lot of groups to stack up and led to a 5+ hour round, but we also were able to relax and look around instead of rushing.

Beautiful course with challenging rough

I played Tanglewood for the first time and really enjoyed the experience. The course is very scenic and well maintained--in general. It is in a golf community so there are homes around the home, but not many are right on top of the course. The starter controlled the groups well and we were not rushed at all. It was a very relaxing pace.

The greens had been aerated and were a bit bumpy, but still playable. It rained the night before we played and this left the course a little wet (standing water in sand traps, etc.). The rough was the main issue for me. It was long and it was TOUGH! I was in the rough more than I wanted to be and you pay the price for straying from the fairway.

The thing I liked most about the course are the gorgeous par 3 water holes. We played from the blues and some of the par 3 holes require long carries over the water, but they are pretty spectacular.

I look forward to playing here again.

A must play course

Eagle Crest is one of the nicest courses in or around the Metro Detroit area. The course is well maintained and very scenic. The views of Ford Lake on the back nine are spectacular. Like everyone else says the greens are very fast and challenging--many are severely sloped and some are two-tiered. It is a real challenge just to stop the ball within a few feet of the hole on most of the greens so be prepared.

After playing a number of the courses available on GolfNow.com, I have tried to narrow down the courses I really want to play and this is one of them. If you can get 18 holes in the $19-$25 range for this course it's an absolute steal compared to a number of other courses in the area.

Nice, upscale course

I played Cherry Creek for the first time with a buddy that had played there long ago. We were paired up with another twosome. The first tee was stacked up with several groups behind us so we had people pushing us the entire time (that would be my only complaint). The twosome we played with was well versed on the course layout and were both quite good golfers. They were very gracious and helpful with tips on shot strategy.

The course was beautiful and very well maintained. The greens had dew on them and were a little on the slow side so the scoring was good and I had my best round ever on this day.

I thoroughly enjoyed the course and plan to play there in the future. We payed under $30 per person and felt it was a good deal for the condition of the course.

Full or challenges and interesting holes

I had heard about Rouge Park on several occasions and now I have found myself telling others about it. The course is maintained and very challenging (it might have something to do with the Rouge River weaving its way through the course).

The neighborhood might put you off at first, but the staff was very friendly and the strarter was a great guy who helped my twelve year old and I get around the course so that we could enjoy our time there.

I look forward to playing there many more times in the future as the GolfNow.com rate is at times ridiculously low ($10-$12 for this much fun on a golf course?).

This course is a gem in the downriver area

The Lake Erie Metropark course is very well maintained and clean. It even has actual bathrooms around the course--not just porta potties. The course is very wooded and is therefore quite challenging. It's probably just because I do dumb things on the golf course, but sometimes the tree line is like a magnet for my shots. There are lots of challenges off the tee and approaching the greens.

I enjoy playing here and is the place to play in the downriver area (IMO) as the GolfNow prices are hard to beat. If you can find it on the site in the $15 to $19 range, you'll have a lot of fun for the money--just bring extra balls.

Great course for younger golfers

I have played twice at the Fox Hills Strategic Fox par 3 course with my boys and we all really enjoyed it.

The Classic Fox is a relatively short course, but is still a lot of fun to play. The condition of the course is excellent with the exception of the cart paths (which are really rough and uneven). The fairways are wide open and have very few out of bounds areas or hazards. The greens were in nice shape. I recommend the course, especially if kids or inexperienced golfers are involved.

The course deserves its reputation.

I had read a lot of reviews about this course and about some of the national recognition it has recieved before playing. I really liked the course. It has open fairways and gradual doglegs. The course is very beautiful with mature trees and lots of elevation change, but there were some GUR areas that we had to work around. The staff was very friendly. We'll be back.

Tough but fun

I really enjoy playing this course. The first time I played I was bewildered because there are a number of blind shots you have to make, but after playing a second time with someone who had played there 30 times I felt more comfortable (with some insight from him). The course is on the outskirts of Inkster which might first make you pause, but the course and facilities are immaculate. There are some tight fairways and a number of shots that require accuracy, but the challenge makes we want to keep going back. Even my 12 year old likes it--no matter how many balls he loses.

It's nothing special, but it's a golf course.

I played the first time at Rackham in an attempt to meet a friend halfway between our houses. The course is a little on the boring side. The rough was long and not very well maintained. You really had to search for your ball. There is no water on the course. I would not pay more than $15 or so to play here and would choose another course over it if I had another option.
