Bring bug spray

We Played on a very windy day With a couple of “gentleman” from North Port and Cincinnati area. Great fellows. We always meet the nicest people on the golf course.
Pace of play was slow. 4 hours and 30 minutes.
My only complaint is there are no rangers.
Would be nice if they used the GPS to send messages to groups that are falling behind. Technology is there. We played twice I. The past week and the first time we played the group in front of us had open holes in front of them and did not seem to be in any rush to bring up the pace.
With the high winds the course was challenging but least it kept the bugs away for the most part.
Greens are extremely hard. Impossible to spin a ball, however as it is a new course it can be expected.
Very nice layout. Lots of water however generous landing areas.
The only recommendation I would suggest is a combined tee of black and red for 6000 yards. Black tees are 5800 while red is over 6400. So a fairly big gap. Overall we enjoyed the course.

Worth the drive

Brand new course and was pleasantly surprise how good of shape the course is.

We arrived to find that the time we booked through golfnow was not linked with the system. Upon showing the pro shop my confirmation for four they were more than helpful and squeezed us in. Apparently just a glitch between golfnow and the program at Babcock. Understandable as this was the second day they were open.
Great practice facility. Large greens. The only complaint was that there were no pin placements. They are working on that.
Fairways have generous landing areas. GPS on carts. For new greens they held better than expected. Putts rolled true. And were relatively quick.
The rough is pretty rough with sod planted in places. We just called it ground under repair. :)
Love the price but pretty clear it will not last.
Playing again on Monday and Saturday. Will bring my rangefinder.

Challenging layout

I played with my wife and joined up with two gentleman. Heard all the positive comments of pace of play from morning group in the club house. We played at 130. Pace was slow but can expect that in Florida. Was not bad at 4 hours and 10 minutes. Holes 2 through 6 are very challenging as it is very tight with out of bounds and water. Water table is high as it seemed wet on the first 6 holes.
Overall we enjoyed the course and will be back.

Slow play no marshal

Upon arriving we were greeted at the bag drop and the crew was very friendly welcoming us to the course. Checkin was quick and smooth. Range and practice area is very good.
Checkin with the starter was good however one foursome arrived after their tee off time and was told to go ahead putting the schedule behind. At first blush it Did not appear to be a big deal.
Joe the starter was Very welcoming.

My biggest complaint Was the slow play. Waited every shot. No ranger to speed play up. We came upon a foursome on the tee at 6th hole who let a foursome through and said they were friends of theirs and they let the group play through. , I was not sure what that meant but soon realized that it meant no else would be passing them. They were four young fellows who quite frankly did not care that anybody else was on the course besides them, and the friends they let through. So frustrated with the four spoiled rich kids, on number 12 my wife and I decided we had enough and we bit farewell to our two playing partners and drove past the four your fellows to hole number 13 and played on. There were at least three open holes in front of this group. We had 6 very enjoyable holes.

When we returned our cart I did ask about rangers and were told they did not have any????? What a surprise for a course of this caliber.
As for the course. Love the greens. Roll true. A Challenging layout. Course was in great condition.
Make sure you use the GPS as there many hidden hazards from the tees
I said I would not recommend this course as the price we payed to play a premium course only to be stuck behind rich spoiled kids totalled ruined our experience.

Somewhat Disappointed

Booked on Golfnow.
This course was as is always one of my favourite courses. Great layout and great staff.
Practice facility is top drawer and is included in the price.
Due to the rain were on a golf cart only rule. That’s fine as I understand that the course needs to be protected.
We played the course in November and the greens were a bit bumpy. Today the practice green seemed good, however the course greens were not as good. It is Frustrating when you watch a birdie or par putt rolling to the hole and then bounce off line. Wish I can say it only happened once but our whole fore-some had the same issues. I do understand the lumpy donut theory but that was not the case. I believe that people who do not repair their ball marks is a part of their problem. I can’t understand that is an issue as most of the golfers who play there are members. As I member at my own course I always fix mine and any others I see. Anyhow we played with two great fellows ( Randy and John), from London Ontario. Was a very enjoyable day and as we got a deal on Golfnow I rated 4 stars for value for the money due to a reduced price. I still love the course and I do hope that the greens will come back to where they were a few years ago.

Very slow

We played Whiskey Creek for the first time. The pace was extremely slow. I am not sure if the ranger could do much as there were golfers everywhere. The layout was ok. The small Greens needed cutting as they were a little bumpy. I did say I would recommend this course but to clarify I would recommend this course at $30 or less.
Staff were very friendly.

Pleasantly Surprised

I booked a foursome. The day before it had rained all day and I thought the Course would be very wet. Three holes were cart path only but on a whole course condition was great. Green are very good, run quick and true. We played lagoon and River. Lagoon was kind of boring. River was a more interesting layout. Price of range balls are the best I have seen in Florida. A good practice area including a chipping green. We did not eat there but it looked to be a nice spot. We will be back.

Five-some allowed ?

We played Viera East for the third time this year. Course is in great shape. Greens are fast. It Was a cold and windy day. The Course was not busy so we were able to play as a twosome. We did come upon a five some on the third hole. It did not appear like they were willing to let us through and the thought of playing 15 holes behind them was unappealing. We decided to skip a hole and we went by them.
Not sure why courses allow groups of 5, even when it is not busy. At the least they should be instructed to allow fast troops through. We finished the course in under 2 hours and 40 minutes. I expect it would have been 5. We felt sorry for the two twosomes that were behind them as we never saw them again. Good news, playing 17 holes makes it a lot easier to break 80. :)

Good course for the price

Staff was great. Very friendly.
Paid $27 on Golfnow. As our tee time was after12 we actually got to capitalize on two of the many $20 vouchers we have earned from Golf now. Tee times on Golfnow after 12 noon are few and far between. $20 Vouchers from Golfnow are only good Monday to Thursday before noon. Can’t figure out why GOLFNOW has so many 1152 tee times. Lol Go figure. We golf a lot so although Golfnow has so many restrictions to use the vouchers you earn it has been worth while. .

So we paid a net of $7 each to play. Great deal. So make that 10 stars for value.
Even for $27 for prime season in Florida it was very good valve for the money.

Conditions were a little wet. Greens held well and ran too true. Fairways were in great shape. Did not need to roll your ball to find grass. Generous landing areas , unless you pull the ball. I have Always had trouble reading greens when they break up hill. Local knowledge. I guess.

We Played with a wonderful couple who now live in South Carolina. (Bob and Cindy). A Vietnam navy vet and retired state trooper from Maryland. He had many interesting stories and and we had very enjoyable round.

I’ll be back

We enjoyed the course. Greens ran fast and held nicely. My wife and I were paired up with a couple fellows.. no respect as we watched the one fellow throw his clubs on more than one occasion and at one point bury his wedge into the fringe when he hit a bad chip. Other than his temper tantrums he seemed like a nice fellow.

Nice layout

For the price we payed on Golfnow I would say the it is a good value for the money. Interesting layout and challenging layout if you draw or slice the ball. Fairways are bare in many places but could move the ball to find grass. Definitely a winter rules course. Not a play it where it lies.. :)
Greens hold well. But are a little bumpy. Staff was friendly. We will likely play it again.
I would recommend this to others at the price we paid on GOLFNOW. We are snowbirds so this was our first round of the season. Was a good course to get out and get back in the swing of things.

Beautiful Course

My wife and I played Heron Creek and we were very impressed. We played the Marsh and the Creek.
A very setting picturest setting.. We were only a twosome so we had to wait almost every shot, which is understandable as the course was full and all foursomes. Pace of play was just under 4 hours, which gave us plenty of opportunities for photo ops. A very relaxing round as group behind us were always a hole back. Marshall’s were around at least 6 times during our round, so it appears they are on top of the pace of play. Greens are large and very tricky. Hitting greens in regulation does always mean an automatic par.
We had lunch on the balcony. Very nice setting, Excellent specials, excellent meal and very pleasant staff.
Looking forward to playing this course again on Friday.

Good and getting better

We played PPGC 8 times this winter. Staff is always helpful and courteous. Course is getting better every year.
We Will be back next winter. Look forward in seeing the uogrades they are actively pursuing. Only complaint is on a few occasions we have seen fivesomes and sixsomes which back the course up. On one occasion we did see a ranger and he broke up the 6some which sped up play.

We played queen to king.
The course has come a long way over the past few years. The greens on queen are not bad but greens on prince need a lot of work. Staff are wonderful.

Shot gun start

Was a little sceptical if a shot gun start and how slow it would be. Was
Pleasantly surprised. 3.5 hour round.

The ranger passes us at least 5 times. We played as a twosome and seldom had to wait.
So great pace and always enjoy playing heron glen. Very good practice area.
