Old Corkscrew Golf Club
Played On 04/10/2018Difficult course, but unbelievably awesome experience
Great course and experience from top to bottom. Staff was friendly and always looking to accommodate their guests, from the starter, to the bag drop folks, and the people in the pro shop. Many opportunities to get drinks and snacks on the course from the snack cart. GPS carts were great (and probably a must for a 1st timer).
We teed off 15 minutes early and played by ourselves (two-some). We played from the white tees which i think was around 72.0/138. And from conversations with other golfers in the area, we knew that this was going to be a difficult course in relation to the other courses we’d played in the area.
It definitely was challenging and you had to think about every shot you took. For reference, I shot a 83 at Stoneybrook and a 79 at Panther Run in the two previous days, and ended up shooting an 88 here. As a lover of golf, this was by far my most favorite course of the three.
I was looking for a challenge and I definitely got my fair share on the back nine. But the condition of the course was awesome. The greens, though fast and undulating, were in great shape and provided a fun challenge (they weren’t out of control ridiculous). The layout of the course was awesome and spread out.
As an avid birdwatcher, the wildlife on the course was great too. I expected to see more gators, but we might have only seen 1 or 2. Plenty of birds to go around.
My father played the course and thought it was awesome and beautiful, but as a more novice (but experienced) golfer, he was a little frustrated with the course. When you get in trouble, you’re in real trouble. It’s tough around the green. Bottom line is that it’s a difficult course. It’s not a course that you see that the next hole is a par 4 and automatically pull out the driver. I teed off with a handful of irons on several par 4s. I had to get creative with my sand wedge a handful of times.
I would go back here over and over again. I loved the challenge. I’m not sure if I could get my father to go back. But this was a memorable course for me and will remember this course much more than the other two courses we previously played.

Down in Florida on a 3-day golf trip. Enjoyed the course very much so. Pretty straightforward except for a few holes, where local knowledge would have been helpful. Really good practice area, easy accessible location. The course condition could have been a tad better, but that was my only real beef with it... otherwise 5 stars for the the experience. Staff was great, pace of play was unbelievable (3h20m round with a 11:45am tee off time on a Sunday) and the starter let us go off early.
