Executive at Bel-Aire Golf Club
Played On 05/22/2018I really like this course
OK, so it's a par 60. I've been here with my son, business associates (who loved the course), and solo. Since the redesign a few years ago, I think it is much improved. Like any golf course, on crowded days, pace of play can slow- I don't hold that against the course. I have always noted, however, that the counter staff seems to feel like they would rather be elsewhere.
The course is kept in good condition. The greens were a little sandy and slow when I was there, so it was tough to judge the speed. Other than that, the facility is nice. The "club house" has a few things for sale, nothing major. There are two vending machines for a snack or drink. There's plenty of water jugs on the course and porta-potties at #11. The practice green is nice as is the fact that you can walk on most days. They'll pair you up or you can sometimes sneak on solo if there's no line at #1. I played solo last week and found two older gentlemen ahead of me who asked me to join them for a 3-some. Had a great round of golf with two very pleasant brothers in the 80's... that's what golf should be about.
Bottom line is you can play 18 holes, have a couple of challenging holes (love the elevated tee at #17), have some fun, and even on a slow day, be done in 3 hours.
Twin Brook Golf Center
Played On 05/12/2018Great place to learn golf
If you're new to golf or just brushing up, Twin Brook is an excellent facility. The course is a 9-hole par 3, but some of the greens are tricky. There's 1 water hazard that runs across #4 and #5. Only problem is that sometimes the greens are covered with leaves or other schmutz from the trees- but that is a seasonal problem.
The driving range, teaching area, and shag bag area are great. There's a fantastic mini-golf for the little ones or just fun with a date. Inside the pro shop is well stocked, there's a club tech on-site and 2 teaching pro's with all the computers you could want.
If your handicap is above 5, you need to make Twin Brook part of your practice routine.
