Though I don’t get here often, Ridgeview Ranch is one of my favorite courses in the area. The variety of looks on each hole is astonishing—there really aren’t any two holes (except perhaps Nos. 2-3) that look the same. There’s a surprising level of topography change, as well as a good mix of wide open and tight holes. You really have to hit the right shots in the right places here if you want to score! Course conditions were very good. The rough was VERY thick and deep. In the past I’ve been a little frustrated with the pace of play—I think that’s primarily because one poor playing group on a challenging course can slow everyone down. But this time we breezed through, in spite of it being cart-path only, because it was cold and breezy. I had a really fun time. Only complaint: I’m not sure why the guy in the pro shop had to be SO unfriendly.

I’ve payed Oak Hollow probably something like 30 times over the past ten years or so. It’s never been one of my favorites—the layout is OK, the course conditions have typically been marginal, and the pace of play has always driven me crazy. I have to say, however, that this was one of the most fun rounds I’ve played in quite awhile, in spite of the fact that it was cart path only due to the massive rains of late. The greens on this course have obviously been reworked and were in the best condition I’ve ever seen them—kudos to the staff who’ve clearly worked hard to improve the conditions. The last time I played here I really thought I’d never come back, but I was going to be in the area and got a cheap tee time so I gave it another chance. Really glad I did! The staff here are so friendly and helpful and I ended up playing with a super group of guys. Thanks also to Carey who is one of the best hospitality people in the business—treats everyone like a friend.
