Course in very good shape!

I really like this course. Many courses in the Pacific NW tend to be slightly shorter but lots of trees as opposed to courses in Las Vegas that are slightly longer but very little trees. This course has a good mix of both which translates to a golfer like me just having more fun playing it. I'm a senior citizen, a 17.0 index, who wants to have fun playing with a little bit of a challenge. This course has it.

Greens Need Improvement

The course, in general, is very nice. The biggest issue is the ball marks ALL OVER THE GREENS AND EVERY GREEN. The course should verbally stress to people upon check in to fix at least two ball marks, your own and one more. If this was done by everyone, eventually there would be no ball marks. I know it's shown on their scorecard but that alone obviously is not working. I was golfing with two guys who play here often and they said people just don't do it, especially the members. Totally surprising as it's a common practice at every course. On some greens, I fixed 6-8 ball marks.

NO OVER SEEDING ALERT, POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE.

I found out after playing 18 holes that this was the second day they were open after over-seeding. There was no alert/advisory when this was booked or I would have gone to a different course. Specifically, the rough was about 6" high and the course was extremely wet due to watering required for over-seeding. Our foursome played "lift, clean, and place" for the entire 18 holes. The greens were extremely slow, maybe the slowest greens I have ever played. This was my first time playing but I was paired up with three other people who live in Las Vegas and play this course, in their words, "all the time". They said this was the worst they had ever seen the course. Another person I talked to in the club house, who is a member there, said they had a tournament the day before and could not understand why they allowed play with such bad course conditions. I did enter a complaint with the pro shop and all I got was, "we apologize for the problem". Their response was not appropriate for what I paid for. I do not plan on playing here again. They had a problem and did not take care of it.

GO PLAY IT!!!

This course is in Pahrump, Nevada so about 50 miles and one hour from the Las Vegas strip. It is well worth the drive as the course is very nice, green, very well maintained. It's a challenging course that is also a lot of fun to play, which is a combination that is hard to find. Also add to this the low green fees that include an electric cart and you have a great value. I will definitely play this course again when in Las Vegas.

Lots of fun to play.

The course is not an easy one but also not too hard, just a fun course to play. And it was in very good condition, fairways, especially the greens. This is only the third time I have played the course but the people working the proshop were very accomodating as I showed up about 45 minutes early and they really tried to get me out early. One of the guys who was working in the proshop, when I was done with my 18 holes, called me by first and last name, asked me how my round went and how did I shoot. These guys see a lot of people in a day and him remembering my first and last name was, to me, impressive. I also told him that the course was in great shape, he agreed and said that hopefully I would come out and play it again. Very friendly!

Pro shop guy was rude! Course was in poor condition!

I showed up almost an hour early for my tee time. I told the pro shop guy that and asked if I could go out early and by myself. He said because I had booked my tee time with golfnow.com I got it very cheap and they normally do not let people who do that go out early. But in his words, "I will cut you some slack because we want you to keep coming back", so he allowed it. The course was almost empty, no one was on the first tee or the entire first hole. I did look behind me while playing, no one. The course had plenty of room, I know I was early, why not let someone out early if it does not interfere with anything/anyone. I was also walking, not riding one of their carts. Comments that the guy made were totally unwarranted. I also thought that if I said something to the guy, he would have made me wait 55 minutes until my booked tee time arrived. I've been golfing for 46 years, first time I got that kind of treatment. The course was being plugged as I played, the greens were recently aerated but not sanded or they were not sanded properly. The golfnow.com website did not have a warning about this nor did the golf course advise me of this when I called a day in advance to check on their dress code. I have played this course many times before but nothing like this happened previously.

When you book hot deals from golfnow, the course doesn't get paid for it. As part of the cost of being on golfnow, they give them a couple of tee times to sell on their own. The course doesn't get a dime of any tee times with the orange flame under them. At other courses, I've been held to my tee time when it was empty because they don't want to inconvenience anyone that actually pays them. I'm sure the guy wasn't trying to be a jerk, I hope this helps explain it.
