Patriot Hills Golf Club
Played On 06/11/2022Hudson Hills Golf Course
Played On 04/30/2017Difficult Track - Greens in A+ Shape
Have played here many times and I'm not sure if the greens have ever been better. Rolling very true, especially for the time of year. Rough was absurd as if their lawnmowers have been down for weeks. 8-10 inches in places! Tee boxes were a bit shaggy but otherwise in good condition. Always a good option to play here with a hot deal. Will return.
Garrison Golf Club
Played On 04/24/2016Greens in summer shape
Solid spring round at Garrison last Sunday. My only complaint is that they were running 40 minutes behind on the tee sheet. According to some regulars who were hanging around the pro shop that morning this is a somewhat common occurrence.
Course was in great shape. Greens particularly. Rolling fast and true.
Scenic track with a tighter front nine and more open back. Would recommend for course conditions and views of the Hudson.
Sprain Lake Golf Course
Played On 06/28/2015Fun Westchester County Course
With the exception of 11, I can't really say there are any awful golf holes on this track. Course plays quite short so it's a good place to practice your approaches with wedges or short irons. Some fun holes with big elevation changes (2,3,9). Greens were OK, fairways were quite plush. Some of the greenside areas and bunkers needed work. All-in-all happy to play here anytime I'm in the area and solid value for ~$40 w/ cart.
Windham Golf Course
Played On 12/27/2014Fun woodland course with local feel.
Played here en route to Foxwoods casino. Lucked out with some 50 degree weather in late Dec. The course was packed with regulars around 10am, I was able to tee off around 11:30. The course is doing loads of construction both on the grounds as well as to the men's locker room. It's a quirky, short course but offers loads of different looks and hole types. The 16th hole (downhill 200 yd par 3) felt kind of squeezed in and some holes came into contact with the nearby roadway but otherwise nothing to complain about. Greens were actually fantastic for this late in the year. Would definitely return here again on my next casino trip. Rate is a bit high at $50 to ride (especially in off season) but the course was a great value at $30 hot deal.
Pound Ridge Golf Club
Played On 09/20/2014Classic Pete Dye layout
Finally made it up to play Pound Ridge this past weekend. Beautiful end of summer weather and relatively quiet day at the course. Staff was incredible, friendly and helpful. Course was is pretty good shape. The greens had been punched recently but still rolled pretty true. Some trouble spots on a handful of greens. Fairways, even rough. and quality tee boxes made up for it. If you like Dye courses Pound Ridge is a must. No shortage of pot bunkers and mounds here.
Oak Hills Park Golf Course
Played On 08/09/2014Short track w good variety
Good layout for a small track of land. Lots of variety between holes. Very silly OB markings on a few holes where the adjacent fairway is white staked (pace of play oriented). Played for $40 with cart and definitely worth the $ on a Saturday afternoon. Will return if in the area.
Mohansic Golf Course
Played On 04/05/2014Solid course for the money.
Local pub. Have played many times and continue to return for the great value. Staff is always very nice and accommodating.
Lake Isle Country Club
Played On 11/17/2013Coming back when the weather breaks!
Played here on a foggy/misty Sunday in Nov. We showed up an hour early and were told we could tee off whenever. Course provided a really fun interesting layout. Fairways and greens were awesome. I could not believe how well the greens were rolling considering the time of year. Staff did a nice job with all the leaves as well. My only issue was with some bare spots in the rough, can't stand to hit off hard pan dirt lies! Will definitely return here. Location super convenient for me coming from Westchester.
Somers National Golf Club
Played On 11/10/2013Solid Course for $35 or less
Played here on a hot deal for $25. Course was in pretty good shape considering how late in the season it is. A few greens were beat up but the majority were very good and actually sort of fast. Course is extremely hilly and on the short side. I'd give the course a better review but there is a par 5 on the back that doesn't even qualify as a golf hole to me. The landing area off the tee shot is about 20 paces wide... very "tricked" out hole. Area is very scenic and staff was nice. Bar didn't have hot chocolate which was weird considering the time of year.
Putnam County Golf Course
Played On 11/2/2013Great course for value. Well kept.
Solid course. Lots of elevation change. In great shape and had decent pace of play with 9:08 tee time on a Saturday morning. Very scenic and a great choice for those coming from Southern Westchester.
Lake Presidential Golf Club
Played On 9/21/2013Beat up from summer play but awesome course!
Awesome layout at Lake Pres. Course just shows a lot of wear and tear from what I'm sure was a busy summer season. Lots of divots and greens were a bit beat up but still fair. If this course was in pristine condition it would probably be in my top 3 public courses in Maryland. Will definitely return here for fall golf.
Raspberry Falls Golf & Hunt Club
Played On 9/1/2013Awesome course. Not in normal pristine shape at the moment though.
Let me start by saying a round of golf at Raspberry Falls is something to definitely look forward to. The course offers and awesome Gary Player layout, tons of variety and difficult while fun holes. Have played here twice before and definitely plan to return. Couldn't give 5 stars however because course was not in the excellent shape I've seen it in previously. Greens were a bit slow and also inconsistent. Some burn out spots but not too bad considering end of summer. Will be sure to come back and play in the fall!
Fairway Hills Golf Club
Played On 8/17/2013Fun course. Tight. Interesting layout.
Very interesting layout here. Lots of forced carries and tight driving holes. Course is short but makes up in difficulty by requiring well placed shots. Played here on a hot deal, would not pay more than $35 to play here really. Staff here was great, driving range w mats but extremely downhill so hard to determine distances. Carts were newer and very nice, no GPS though.
Reston National Golf Course
Played On 8/2/2013Convenient, but not the best
Very convenient for those in Tysons, and other parts of Northern VA. Generally in good shape but greens were pretty banged up when I played on 8/2/2013. Fun little track, not super difficult. Will wait for mid fall to return, hopefully course will be in better shape.
Maryland National Golf Club
Played On 7/27/2013Very nice, scenic golf course
Excellent facility. Grass range with chipping/putting area. Course is semi links style but gets tight in areas. Greens were rolling true and fast when I played, fairways in great shape.
Poolesville Golf Course
Played On 4/13/2013Awesome day at Poolesville
What a great track! From the very first tee shot this course is a fun and challenging one. Plenty of players there but groups kept pace nicely. Greens were very well maintained, fast and consistent. Fairways/bunkers/tee boxes were also in super shape. Will definitely play here again!
Montgomery Village Golf Club
Played On 3/30/2013Fairways and Location Terrible. Play somewhere else
My 3rd or 4th round here. They have really let the place go. Fairways were absolutely atrocious. Tee boxes as well. Greens surprisingly were in pretty good shape. Course is extremely interwoven with the surrounding community. To the point where little girls with their grandfathers will hop into your golf cart requiring you to sprint over and pull the keys as to avoid a potential disaster. You may have guessed it, but I 3 putted that green (the 10th). On a separate occasion 2 girls were sitting on a tee box (17th) chatting away as we tried to tee off. After telling them to be quiet (totally ignored) I hooked one OB left (double bogey). Will not return to this course. No marshals to keep locals at bay. Sad considering pretty interesting layout with lots of different kinds of holes. Don't even mind the few unsightly power lines. On the bright side the staff was great.
Clustered Spires Golf Course
Played On 3/10/2013Excellent value, Excellent Course
Clustered was in absolutely great shape. Greens we rolling extremely fast for mid March, fairways and tee boxes were also in good shape. Course was backed up due to frost delay but that's to be expected on the first 60 degree day of the year. Staff here is always friendly, grass range plus separate chipping and putting areas.
Queen's Harbour Yacht & Country Club
Played On 12/17/2012Jacksonville Gem!
Queens Harbor was one of the highlights of a Jacksonville Golf trip which included rounds at Sawgrass and Dye's Valley. This course which we stumbled upon was an absolute delight! Staff was super super friendly and had no issue allowing my group to go out as a 5some. Course had a great layout with water on 17 of 18 holes. From tee to green the course was in excellent shape and also very scenic at times. Queen's Harbor made excellent use of water features and also has some really amazing trees on the property. We played on a Monday morning so the course wasn't busy and the 5 of us go around in 4:15. Will definitely return to play here if I am ever in Jacksonville again!
