I'm a member here and play 2-3 times a week in the summer, course is challenging enough that it keeps you coming back. Grounds are well maintained and staff is friendly. Rates for guests are a little high though...

Course is close to home and fairly priced. Not that challenging or long, but is worth an 18 once in a while. Pace of play can be slow at times, lots of walkers and seniors play here.

Van Cortland, in my opinion, is a good course for those that live close to the city. It's hidden away up in the Bronx, so doesn't give off that complete city feel, but easy enough to get to. Holes aren't the hardest I've ever played, but aren't completely flat and open either. Pace of play can be horrible, I've gotten stuck on close to a 6 hour round there.

After playing this course I came to the conclusion that it would take an awful lot to get me to come back. The pace of play was beyond slow, granted I was paired up with some newer golfers, for a Monday morning a round shouldn't take 5 1/2 hrs; actually a round should never take this long. When it came to the course conditions, it wasn't the worst I've ever played on, but wasn't great either; I'm sure this was due to the fact its a public course with lots of beginners. For the money I feel you will get a better deal elsewhere.
