Foss Park GC has always offered exceptional course conditions. This year, the course was almost in country club shape despite heavy rains and reduced staff due to the pandemic. What makes the experience special is how the staff works to make golfers feel welcome. Head pro Gabe always takes time to ask about your game and to offer tips on how to play the course. Clubhouse staffers Lupe, Cheneka and Agee serve up great food, beverage service and smiles. They make you forget all of your bogeys and double bogeys as soon as you finish your round.

I played the Ives Grove courses nine times this season due specifically to both the quality of the conditioning and the graciousness of the staff. I have been playing Ives Grove on and off ever since it opened and can confidently state that 2020 was a watershed year for conditioning improvements throughout the property. Indeed, up until mid-October when the nines were aerated, Ives Grove was the best conditioned public course (and practice facility) across Kenosha and Racine counties.
As importantly, the commitment to excellence also extended to the course staff. The tee time schedule was promptly kept, the food in the clubhouse was fresh and well-prepared, and the pro shop was managed by cheerful and gracious folks. My foursome took advantage of the excellent replay rates a couple of tunes and the staff found a way to work us in to a busy schedule.

I have been playing Ives Grove ever since it opened. I was stunned yesterday on the perfect conditioning of the course from the tee boxes to the fairways to the greens. Given the hot summer, it takes a lot of care and skill to keep any course properly watered. Other courses in the Kenosha and Racine area have shown the effects of budget shortfalls and brutal weather conditions. Somehow, Ives Grove is better today than I’ve seen it in years. Nice going!

Few golf courses in the Chicago metro area can match Foss Park G.C. when it comes to course conditioning, value, staff friendliness and great food. While the golf course is flat and doesn't offer dramatic views, those are minor issues. The course is meticulously kept up and the greens are in perfect shape even during the first week of November. But the best part of the experience is the Foss Park personnel who strive to make every guest feel like a country club member. In many ways, Foss Park is like the old sitcom "Cheers." Go there once and everyone knows your name.
