Windermere Golf & Country Club
Played On 09/15/2016Renewed confidence in Windermere condition
Course now in excellent condition. We had stopped playing there because of bad greens keeping. Even so on some holes second cut 3 to 4 inches. Difficult to find ball not far off fairway and to hit out of at our skill level. Slows pace of play.
Grounds crew courteous. Moved off the fairway when we were hitting. This often does not happen on a Golf North course near Waterloo Ontario.
Great price with Golf Now. Pretty course. We will play there again.
The Rock Golf Club
Played On 08/03/2016One of Muskoka's Most Beautiful Courses
As always, beautifully manicured, picturesque, difficult but fair course. Tee blocks for all player abilities who can usually hit straight even if not long off the tee but course is definitely not for beginners. Lots of huge sheets of Muskoka granite on many holes that add to beauty of course and distance of shot in some direction when you hit the rock.
All staff well trained and friendly. Three of us played and were joined by a young mom and 5 year old for dinner. Restaurant staff also welcoming, gracious and offered a great selection of meals at several price points - even for the descriminating taste of the 5 year old.
We will try to play here several times more before season ends and will cross country ski here if The Rock offers groomed trails again this winter.

Oak Bay Golf Course
Played On 05/22/2015Oak Bay Golf Course - Georgian Bay/Muskoka
This is a beautiful golf course in terrific shape, particularly for this time of year. Staff was very helpful and the granite on many holes and views of parts of Georgian Bay are worth the ride around the course by themselves.
For my wife and I (seniors) this course was certainly playable for us and we will definitely go back but it was very challenging. It is definitely not for beginners or even experienced players who no longer can hit 150 yards consistently. We had thought about taking two weekend guests back with us the next day but one of them would cannot hit long enough off the tee to get to a fairway on several holes, even from the forward tees. Several holes require a drive over marshlands to a landing area and a few then require a second shot over marshland or water to the green. We played an easier nine elsewhere.
New clubhouse build in progress requiring an alteration of the order in which holes are played but not a problem. Well-marked. Walking this course would be a huge challenge for most seniors and unfit younger people.
It is a gorgeous course. We will be back.
