Old Orange at Verandah
Played On 02/06/2017Terrific Golf Course
Verandah Old Orange is a terrific golf course. Great layout, super fast greens (12), that rolled beautifully, plus a very well conditioned Course, make it a must play. Great variety of holes and great greens really made playing here an A+ experience. Our cost was $90 per player which was well worth it. If you are serious about golf, I absolutely recommend playing this Course. You will NOT be disappointed.
Forest Glen Golf & Country Club
Played On 02/05/2017Nice Course
Not very long, but plenty hard. Great condition, very good greens, and not easy. This course can be difficult especially from the back tees. Your better hit it straight, as there are bunkers, hazards, and water all over the place. A fun, nicely conditioned course that I think most golfers would enjoy playing.
Esplanade Golf and Country Club of Naples
Played On 02/04/2017Good - Not Great
Played Esplanade for the first time today. Based on the cost ($149) I expected to play an outstanding track. It was not outstanding. The greens were very slow, probably an 8, although they did roll true.
The course itself is nice, with some very interesting holes and design.
The negatives for me were:
#1 - The space between holes. It's absurd.
#2 - It seemed there was a lot of construction going on all over the course. It seems like additional homes are clearly the priority over the golf course.
#3 - Don't like the aqua driving range.
#4 - The Guest Fee $149!!
The positives were:
#1 - Very nice layout.
#2 - Nicely conditioned course - but not great.
#3 - Interesting holes & set up.
#4 - Very good greens. But they need to be faster.
#5 - The outdoor staff was very attentive & nice.
Overall a good track, but not a great one. Clearly not worth the $149 Guest Fee.
Seems to me that this "could" be a very nice track if they chose to focus their attention on the course instead of the new construction.
ChampionsGate Golf Club - National
Played On 03/10/2016One Time Is Enough
The Good - Champions Gate (National) is a very interesting golf course. The layout was very good, & the course was in good condition. The Service folks that handled your clubs, & set up the cart were all very helpful & nice. The Bad - The issue @ CG National are the Greens. The typical green was approximately 80-90 feet front to back, & only about 20-30 feet wide!! Not sure why it was designed this way. Very quirky to say the least. Perhaps some players find this type of green complex interesting, but I certainly did not. I'm glad I did play it once, but will not be back.
Bella Collina Golf Club
Played On 03/09/2016Unique and Good Course
BC was a most interesting golf course. Absolutely NO water on a Florida golf course? The layout is outstanding!! Very similar to my Country Club in NJ. Elevation changes where side hill lies are the norm. The Clubhouse is incredible, & I can see this facility going Private one day. Terrific Driving Range.
Two areas of improvement are required here. It seemed there were small bits of gravel in every bunker - not sure why that was the case. Secondly the greens, which I thought needed more grass on them. Perhaps the greens were still a bit dormant.
Had lunch after my round, where the food & service were both very good. Overall, this was a very good experience.
Mission Inn Resort & Club - El Campeon Course
Played On 03/08/2016Nice Course
The Course was in good condition. I thought the greens rolled well. The layout was quite interesting. A nice mixture of holes, & a pretty good test of golf especially from the back tees. The Pro Shop & their entire staff was polite & professional. I certainly would come back, & perhaps play their other course as well.
South/East at Spanish Wells Country Club
Played On 03/10/2014Very Disappointed
The only good part of my visit here was the weather. Driving Range below average Played the North & South Course. The North Course was in rough shape to say the least. Fairways were a joke. Probably weren't cut in nearly a week. Greens very bumpy & generally awful. Need a scout team to find our way from one hole to the next as this course is jammed in between many homes, condos, etc. the South was only a fraction better w/several of the same issues as the North. At least going from hole to hole was a bit easier. To top it off the halfway house was closed at 4:00pm!!! Couldn't even grab a Diet Coke between nines. I truly feel sorry for the members/residents of this community. Obviously the community puts little or nothing into the golf course. Test assured, I will never play this awful course again.
Thank you for visiting us out here at Bella Collina, it makes us very happy to hear you had an overall great experience! Both the issues you have stated have been fixed (greens) and are in the process of being fixed (Gravel). There issues should be completely resolved by the next time you join us for a round!
