Overall fun experience at Quivira. We played two days in a row during our trip. I was really excited about playing this course after seeing the pictures and reading about it in golf digest. My wife and I typically stay up the beach and play at diamante, but wanted to try something different.

Check-in: Slow and off-putting. Women working in clubhouse did not greet us. As we were attempting to check-in the first day, the lady starts talking to someone else and made us wait an additional 5 minutes. Told us hole 17 was playing as a par 3 and we would have 10% off our tee time. Catch was that we were not offered a refund as our first tee time was prepaid and we were told we had to spend the refund in the clubhouse. A sleeve of proV1's was literally $33. Give me a break.

No caddie service offered. Fairly strange for a course that has tee times at $3-400/round.

Before getting to range there is a comfort station where you can get drinks (beer, water, Gatorade, soda, mixed drinks, and some nuts). No real food. Diamante has a slider bar where you can get ahi tuna sliders and smoothies for breakfast before your round (all-inclusive). We ended up eating breakfast in the clubhouse before warming up. Food was just okay.

Range: Excellent condition. Range balls were garbage in comparison to the rest of the practice facility and were nothing good. Expected at least NXT's or something equivalent.

Course: Condition was excellent overall as expected. Greens were perfect. Rolled true and nice pace. Overall layout of the course was fun and very challenging. Beautiful views of the ocean and beaches on many holes.

Overall would play here again, but it is definitely overpriced. I think it is worth around ~$200 tops. If they were to make the experience 5 stars (friendly clubhouse staff, caddie service offerings, REAL food before tee-off, pro-V1's or TP5's at driving range, etc.) it would be worth the current cost.

Also forgot to mention they are doing A TON of construction around the course taking away from the peace and quiet of playing a round of golf.

Extremely Disappointing

My wife and I were looking forward to playing here as we had read so many positive reviews about this course. Additionally, I had read about this course in a golf digest article. Wow were we disappointed with our experience at Sewailo and are unlikely to return. We are from Las Vegas and play at least once a week all over the Vegas valley. Additionally we have played a number of courses on Indian reservations and are sad to say this one was much different than the rest.

I have numerous complaints before our round even started:
1) Guy in clubhouse mentioned they offer "free range balls that are PREMIUM callaway balls." Get up to range and they are legitimately the cheapest and most scuffed up callaway balls you have seen. Definitely not premium.
2) Some girl decked out in University of Arizona gear literally acted like she owed the chipping green and was using the entire thing including every ball on the green. Guessing she plays for U of A or something, but still...you can be courteous to other patrons of the course.
3) No free bottles of water included with round. I know it is only 75-80 degrees outside, but it is still the desert. Don't be cheap. I'm sure you give out free water in your casino right on the property.
4) No rags/towels for cleaning clubs provided. When I asked the starter about towels he rudely told me I could go clean my clubs in the club cleaner up at the range before the round. Funny part was the club cleaner had not an ounce of water in it. Real cool.
5) Starter then gives us a lecture about keeping up the pace of play and that "they will be watching us from the clubhouse based off of our GPS to make sure we are not slowing anyone down."

Now about the on course experience (keep in mind it is "Prime Season" for courses in the southwest):
1) Layout way actually pretty neat. This is the only reason I gave this course 2 stars instead of 1.
2) Fairways were absolutely waterlogged. Every shot with an iron left every single groove of your club filled with dirt. Sometimes even had a nice spray of dirt all over your legs. Would've been nice to have a club cleaning towel for this.
3) Rough was hard as concrete and grass pretty much non-existent. I know everyone blames this on "Bermuda grass" and it not flourishing this time of year. Well there are plenty of courses in Vegas which have Bermuda and still have decent rough. Maybe they could water the rough more and the fairway less?
4) Greens were absolutely garbage. Multiple greens had an incredible amount of divots (sometimes exceeding 3-400). Greens were also waterlogged to the point of walking leaving footprints that remained.
5) Pace of play was good on the front nine. Once we made the turn we got stuck behind a four-some which had no group ahead of them. The pace of play became so slow that the two groups behind us decided to play as a six-some and were still able to push into my wife and I while we were only playing as a twosome. Funny how the starter gave us a lecture about keeping up the pace of play. Didn't see a single ranger on the course the entire round.
6) Cart girl on the course tells us she needs to see our ID's before we even ask to order drinks. What if we didn't want any? Honestly this is the first time I have ever been carded on a golf course and have probably played at least 500+ rounds since I turned age 21 many years ago.

To be completely honest, I am concerned many of the reviews written about this course are actually written by the owners/staff to bring in business. Not sure how so many people have said such great things about it when in reality it is lacking in multiple areas on and off the course.

I would value this round of golf at $25 tops. Much better courses which are in better condition in town.

Not bad, but overpriced for the conditions

Was our first time back playing the course in over a year. Prior management was HORRIBLE and we said we would never return. Gave it another try since it opened back up. Management has improved quite a bit. People were friendly and there was a beverage cart numerous times. The website said our tee time should have been $35 since we played after 1pm, but the online booking said $65. Upon calling the pro shop they told us it would be $45. Made no sense to me so I asked if they would honor the $35 rate listed. They did, but then proceeded to lecture us on the cost of a round of golf there upon check-in. Not cool - please fix your site. And as far as the $35 we paid for resident rates - this is still overpriced in comparison to other courses in the area. My description below will yield insight to this.

As far as the course goes...
Pros: Greens and fairways were in very nice condition. Much improved since last time. Layout of the course is enjoyable. Not too difficult and you can hit driver on most holes.

Cons: Rough was terrible. No attempt has been made to water the rough, which is surprising seeing that its the winter and its not as hard to keep the course green. 14 to 16 of the tee boxes had not been mowed in who knows how long and the length of grass was quite a bit longer than the fairway. Pace of play was terrible and there wasn't a single pacer on the course on a Saturday. The group ahead of us barely made it past the ladies tees on a number of holes and wouldn't let us play through.

Recommendation: If you are from out-of-state do not waste time playing here. You will be disappointed for the amount of money they ask and there are much much better courses in the area for less money. As a local, I will not be back here until they learn to take better care of their course (referring specifically to the rough and tee boxes) and how to manage their website/business appropriately.

Great round on the Wolf as always!

Even as a Vegas local, I don't make it out to Paiute very often, but have played all three courses a number of times. The Wolf is definitely the best of the three and I would recommend it to anyone visiting town on a golf trip or anyone serious about golf.

Our round today was nice. It was insanely hot as it normally is in the summer, but the course wasn't too crowded and we finished the round in under 4 hours. This is a surprise because the normal pace of play here is 5+ (which would be brutal in 110 degree weather.

Course conditions were great as always. Greens have to be some of the truest in the entire Las Vegas area. Well manicured and very few (if any) divots were present. Fairways, bunkers, tee boxes, etc. were all pristine.

Round was $72 a person for the local rates. Still pretty pricey compared to some of the other high quality courses in the area, but still worth it.

The course is definitely a good challenge, especially if you play from the tips. Although, I have never seen the tee markers in for the tips. Not sure why. We played the furthest back tees there were for the day (blacks) and the course was still over 7000-7100 yards i think. Shot a 78 with a bogey on 17 and double on 18 to finish the day. Will definitely return!

Great course for the 30 dollar hot deal

This course was definitely worth the 30 dollars we spent to play. Layout is neat and course has great strip views. Although if we were tourists and had paid the 230 a round to play I would be pretty irritated. Course is in pretty bad shape compared to most other Vegas courses. Rough is pretty burnt up and super patchy. Greens were bumpy and unusually soft. Much different than last time I played here about 4-5 months ago. The course was much better then.

Awesome course

Course was in great shape. Tee boxes, fairways, greens, etc. were in top notch. Pace was unusually fast. Only took our group 4 hours to play. Much more improved than my previous round of 5.5 hours here. Definitely a must play course to play if you are a visiting tourist.

Good bang for the buck

Course was in great condition as usual. Greens have to be some of the nicest and truest rolling greens I have played on. Pace of play was horrible. We were in a four playing moderately paced. There was a group of four in front of us that we waited on the tee box and in the fairway for on every hole. Some waits were 5 minutes or longer. Not sure what was taking them so long. Otherwise no complaints. Not a fan of holes 17 and 18. Not very representative of the rest of the course.
