Southwind Golf Course
Played On 08/06/2022Good
Tremendous value for the course. Some fun shots with challenging pins. Tee boxes need loving and there’s not a true fairway, more of just shorter grass than the rough. Still, we had a good time and I will be back.

Played On 05/25/2021Can’t complain
Booked a solo tee time at 11:45. Hit the grill before check-in, staff was friendly and the BLT was cash. Club house was chill, they weren’t busy so he told me I would go with a pair that booked at the same time as I did, or not, my choice.
The course itself is of course dry with little to no fairway grass to speak of. It’s like hitting off concrete in some places, but to fault them for that isn’t fair. We haven’t had rain in the Tampa area in weeks. Still, the tee boxes and greens could be loved a little more as they need a lot more than just water.
Pace of play wasn’t great. No one was behind me but traffic on every hole in front of me, again, not the courses fault. No cart girl or water coolers so bring cold snacks accordingly.
Layout is decent. Water on 11 of 18 holes I believe, with a really cool par 3 ‘island’ on the front 9. Not the funnest layout I’ve ever played, but not vanilla either.
Overall, I lean 7.1/10 with it. Not bad, but not great either. Will play again.
Countryway Golf Club
Played On 05/14/2020Nice Par 3 Course
Countryway is one of the nicest par 3 courses I’ve played. It’s quick, fun, and certainly challenging. Hole 5 offers a chance at an ace, if you’ve got the touch to drop a 67 yard shot in.
Like most this time of year, the greens could use some love. And because the course is short, a log jam could happen easily. Last round, I was buried behind four separate foursomes, not ideal.
Overall a fun course, and a great opportunity to dial in your short game.
The Groves Golf and Country Club

Solid course all around. Challenging lay out that plays small with winding fairways. Precision is key here, leave the driver in the bag - you won’t need it. Opportunities to lose balls are everywhere, as a miss hit is rarely able for punch out. It’s simply gone into the wetlands for all of time.
I like to arrive 30/40 minutes early to get loose and sink some putts, however the club pro sent me out immediately which I wasn’t keen on. He partnered me up, no big deal, but said we “have to” share a cart. I thought the price I paid included a cart, but apparently not.
Whatever, I’ll be back. I recommend you do as well.
Westchase Golf Club
Played On 07/06/2018Excellent Course
My first outing at Westchase and man, they set the bar high. The pro-shop is picturesque, the starter (George) couldn’t have been nicer, and the range for $6 is all on water! The course was beautiful, parts feel as though you’re in Jurassic Park, with thick woods and classic bridges. Greens were in great condition, tee boxes were sufficient, and the cart girls were cute. Can’t ask for more. My only complaint is nearly unavoidable, but the course was absolutely soaked. Everywhere. Again, it rained the day before, but I fear the draining system may not be up to snuff. I will definitely be back though!
