Roy Kizer Golf Course
Played On 06/11/2017Greens are fading !
This course is typically in as good or better condition as any (Avery, Terra Vista, Barton Creek) but some of the greens are starting to deteriorate, a month ago they were all above average to excellent, today they are average and going down hill fast. I hope they don't have a Forrest Creek issue, that would be a shame, right now the 55 dollar weekend price is bordering on theft.
Point Venture Golf Club
Played On 04/15/20176.5 out of 10 (because of the nice greens)
The greens are average to above average, (some spots are toast) but mainly soft and lush, pretty slow except for the downhill, down grain putts. The grass is weird, very green and sticky, not sure what type of grass it is. PV is inexpensive, and great if you want to play on Saturday and did not make a Tee time on Tuesday. The fairways do have some turfgrass on them in spots, but there is a lot of weed, fescue, St. Augustine, etc. I don't understand the solid 4 stars??? It is a definite 3 tho...I consider Lions Muny 3.5 (don't get me wrong, I LOVE muny, but face it, it needs some TLC and it gets 100k rounds played per year). Back to PV... Easy to hit fairways, fairly short course, decent greens, you could score well if you can keep your ball below the hole, if not lots of 3 put bogies...

I will have to play this course again to be able to assess. I dont understand the premium price. The greens are average at best, some are far below average there are the usual overwatered mud bogs around the approach aprons, and some areas where you really wonder, what were they thinking? Lots of water but most of it is avoidable. It's pretty wide open, but challenging. There are some punitive bunkers in just the right spots, so you have to place shots, instead of bombing a driver, which I don't care for (I am not a pro) but I get it. So again, I will have to give it another go before I can rate properly. SAVE MUNY
Bluebonnet Hill Golf Club & Range
Played On 11/19/2016Please fix your ball marks on the greens!!!
First time in 3 years to play at Bluebonnet, great course. They had it set up for a Sunday PGA event, pins tucked, or on upper tiers, pretty diabolical. The greens are in near perfect condition, very firm, and fast. I wish that players would respect the condition of these greens by fixing their ball marks. If you are good (or fortunate) enough to create ball marks, you should have the respect and decency (etiquette), to repair them, as a matter of fact even if you don't make one, you should fix at least 1 (or 2) every time you walk on to a green. # 15 looked like the surface of the moon, I am sad and embarrassed for the golfers of Austin (you know who you are) It is akin to littering it's just like throwing your McDonalds trash out the window of your car. Please...Fix 2 every time. Give a hoot dont pollute!!!
Lions Municipal Golf Course
Played On 10/29/2016Muny, Save it!
The greens are back to normal. They would be perfect if anyone would ever fix a ball Mark. Obviously the layout is great my favourite thing about this golf course is that there is not one single house anywhere. If you're new in town or just visiting, this one is a must play. Oh and please sign the petition let's keep this place a golf course. SAVE MUNY
