Richland Golf Club
Played On 08/12/2023Still going downhill.
I honestly try to avoid this course anymore. Friends book tee times, which is the only reason I go.
Facilities are dirty and not well maintained (including clubhouse restrooms.). Range mats are trashed. Range itself is an eyesore. Bunkers are never maintained. Grass is not mowed often enough and is left laying all over the fairways. Some tee boxes are 100% weeds. No beverage cart even on weekends. Its like they don't even care.
And for $83. Would recommend nearby Musket Ridge or Maryland National for slightly extra cost and vastly better conditions and facilities.
The greens still roll nicely though.
It’s really a shame. The facility used to awesome before ownership changes. If the orice keeps going up without improving the experience, it will soon be out if business. Can play equal courses for $50 or less.
Actually not tons of traffic on a Saturday. I think word has gotten out that its not a good experience for the price.
Gettysburg National Golf Club
Played On 10/17/2020Nice moderate golf course
This course is nice for an easy round on a flat course. Despite being relatively flat, the course remains interesting.
The guy who checked me in did give me attitude for using GolfNow instead of booking direct. I understand, but if he doesn’t like it, he doesn’t need to use the service. GolfNow is the only reason he made 50ea from my buddy and me. Enough with the attitude!
Rocky Gap Casino Resort
Played On 09/05/2020Saturday 36 With The Guys
Needed a place to meet between DC and Pittsburgh for 36 holes with some friends, and Rocky Gap filled the need. It did not disappoint. The course and mountain m/lake backdrop were picturesque.
Some excessive wear on a few tee boxes, but otherwise in great shape. Fairway grass was a little longer than I’m used to, but chalked it up to seeking resiliency through the summer heat. Some bunkers had standing water and wet fairways, but acceptable given lots of recent rain.
Facilities were great, especially the wide grass range, multiple practice greens, and every cart path as smooth and pristine as could be.
Glade Valley Golf Club
Played On 09/10/2017Close at 7pm on a Sunday
On September 10th, at 6:57pm, I was on the 16th hole and a staff member drove by to tell us the course closes at 7pm and the cart was due back. I've played here many times before and this never happened until now.
This was after I wasn't able to buy anything at the clubhouse during the turn at around 5pm. Started my round at 3:20pm. They were happy to take my money -- just didn't care enough to stick around, I guess.
It was still clear out and the sunset was 7:30pm, which means it could easily have stayed playable until close to 8pm.
I don't understand. Does the staff not understand that folks like to finish their round? Perhaps they could have tried to speed up the slow groups in front of me to help things along? Maybe they had somewhere better to be? If you work at a golf course -- go ahead and assume people are going to play until dark on a beautiful September day.
We hurried to finish our round -- which contributed to some sloppy play and ruined a good score. The cart got back at 7:15pm and I didn't care if they gave me trouble. Unacceptable behavior for a golf course.
