What a wonderful experience. Too bad its not 18 holes.

Course was soaked so cart had to be left on path. Greens are in tremendous shape. Lady at counter was not very friendly.

At tee time starter told me i had to give up my golf cart and ride with someone else in the group or pay more which was not mentioned online or at check-in at the clubhouse. Cart availability was not an issue as there were many unused carts at the entry.

This course is challenging and certainly not flat like most courses around here . The greens are undulated and rolling true while the bunkers have plenty of sand. There are more than enough water hazards around to keep you focused. My favorite aspect of this course is the "hills" and doglegs which makes club selection interesting.

If you live in the surrounding area it might be worth playing here but not if you have to drive from Jacksonville. I'll chalk this experience up to been there, done that. The tee boxes are in horrible condition and be wary of the earthen cart paths because they will wreak havoc on your back. The fairways are better than average but the yardage markers are hard to locate and the sand traps are hard packed. Greens are fast, bumpy, and burnt.

The course is in great shape but there needs to be a Marshall there even when not busy. I was a single player and the 4-some in front of me would not let me play thru the entire front side. This lack of etiquette caused a backup starting with me and 3 other groups. There weren't but 10 groups on the entire golf course there. Club house employee needs to tell these 4-somes to let faster groups thru. The 10:20 group was the problem. If i play there again i will go to the backside. BTW clubhouse employee doesn't like golfnow rates.

The course was very nice but soaked. I wouldn't have played had i known this beforehand.

The course was in good shape considering the rain. It is a tight course but very fair. I started on the 10th by the clubhouse and had difficulty finding the 1st hole. Greens rolled fast but consistent. It was certainly worth the drive. As a single it took me 3 hours but at a moderate pace meaning i sometimes hit 2 shots.

I played as a single in 3 hrs and 15 minutes. Two twosomes lets me play thru. The course was soft but not wet and the bunkers had plenty of sand. I would've liked to see some pictures of the holes on the scorecard or yardage markers since i had never played the course. The staff from registration to cart pickup and drop off were wonderful and courteous.

It was a long way to travel to play, however, the course was in nice shape from the tees to the greens. I had my best round of the year going up the back nine when i ran into the mower man. The guy (older man) saw me but refused to move out of the fairway so i could tee off. Afraid i was going to hit him with my drive i played for a different shot and ended up in the trees twice. So much for that great round. Also Sapelo Hammock much be COVID free because no protection was offered for the golfers in the flag holes, sand racks were out and no people with masks in the club house that i could see.

The sand traps were abysmal; there was more sand on the punched greens than in the traps. Golf course employees were not wearing a mask inside the clubhouse and 'im not sure why there were rakes in the traps to begin with given the COVID-19 pandemic. Starter's demeanor was pleasant and he explained the flag positions and restroom key. Also certain members known to the club don't adhere to basic golf etiquette like asking for permission to play thru while our group was finishing putting on the hole. Marshall/Ranger was advised but acted as if it was par for the course from these 2 individuals. As a matter of fact, we had to wait to tee off on the very next hole. Aside from this the fairways and layout was good but i will not play this course again until they put some sand in the traps.

The grass around this National Guard installation was very well maintained but the same can't be true about the golf course. The greens were spongy. This course reminded me of the field i used to practice on as a kid. This course has so much potential if the City would just put some money into it along with the seventies facilities. If you were in the military in the 70's and 80's you know what i am talking about. The fairways and rough were indistinguishable for the most part.

When i started to play golf in the 70's i would go to an abandoned hole off the real course and practice for hours on end. This course needs tremendous money and personnel to bring this course up to par or in the vicinity. Just cutting the fairways would help tremendously. The facility are poor at best; it reminds me of some of the dumps overseas when i was there; gosh i hope i didnt get COVID19 or typhoid going to the restroom. The older man in the club house was very nice and had a tremendously nice demeanor about him. In closing, Jacksonville, Mayor, City Council put more resources into this course because it would be financially to your benefit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! People will come if you just cut the grass and fertilize!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Course was in exceptional shape from the fairways to the greens. Guy in pro shop and bag drop girl were pleasant.

Lots of water and mounds but if you stay in and close to the fairway you will enjoy it. Friendly starter as way as check-in lady.

Well maintained layout. It was busy but the pace of play was nice.

I've played courses public courses like this in much better condition. I played the West and South courses here and it is appparent not much of the money is put back into course maintenance. The vast majority of tee boxes are awful due to the lack of size and were concave and alot of the tee shot site lines were obstructed by overgrown tree trees/limbs. The cart paths are mostly dirt covered with tree roots and what concrete is there needs repair. The greens and sand traps seemed well maintained nice given the time of year.

The greens on the front were slow and bumpy but much better on the back. Allot of loose sod in the wet areas. Friendly staff and enjoyable pace of play!

The fairways on the front were wet even after no rain for about a week but the back dried out much more.

Way too many 1- and 2-somes! The groups ahead that have 3 or 4 players obviously are aware of this and "WILL NOT" acknowledge you refuse to let you play through so ... Hotdogs were $6 plus (and was told plus a gratuity), come on!!!! The price of the golf was cheap, including the cart, but the pace of play and price for a dog make this a no go for me in the future. The restaurant is for people way better off financially then me. Lastly, how bad are the score cards and signs at the holes? Having never played this course it would be nice to see the hole layout and not the mention yardages. I had no idea of how far i was on the majority of the holes; geewiz how about a 150 yard marker somewhere in the fairway. So if you live there you probably like it the course, but i bet not love it. So i rate "ALL" the other courses around there better, period, no question!!!!!
