Great Course in An Awesome Setting!!!

The Four Seasons Golf Course at Peninsula Papagayo, should definitely be on any golfers "bucket list"!!! The setting is amazing and the staff goes out of their way to make your round very enjoyable.

The course plays much shorter than the scorecard due to many elevated tees and open fairways, but the greens can be very "diabolical" to read at time. The breaks appear to be very subtle, but can definitely ruin a round if you cannot get the speed correct.

The wildlife (monkeys, coatis and iguanas) were something to see and the views of the ocean were spectacular!!! It's not cheap, but if you want to play a spectacular course, I would highly recommend it. I will definitely play it the next time I make the trip to Costa Rica.

Great Course in a Convenient Location

We played this course after finding a "Hot Deal" on Golf Now. Most of the taxi drivers do not know the location of the course, but it was not difficult to find. It was a 15-20 minute cab ride from the Paradisus, and is located at the north end of the Hotel Zone on the mainland.

The course was in great condition and the staff was very friendly. The course has 2 very distinct sides with the front nine working away from the ocean and is somewhat protected from the breezes. It does have trouble on many of the holes in the mangroves though, but overall, the course is very fair with generous fairway widths. The back nine is a different animal when going towards the ocean where the breeze picks up substantially. The are a couple of holes that require one to club down substantially due to the stiff breezes coming in off the ocean. It was very breezy on the day we played, so I am not sure if this is typical or not, but it definitely made the course play much longer on the back nine.

I would not hesitate to recommend this course, and I will definitely play it again on our next trip to Cancun.

Flooded Conditions November 2015

We recently played Riviera Cancun on November 21st, with extremely high expectations from previous visits. I found a $68 morning tee time and thought that this was going to be great, until we got to the course and found out that 4 holes are out of play and 2 others have temporary tee boxes on the fairway. I realize that they cannot control the weather, and it sounds like they have had an excessive amount of rain recently, but it would have been nice to let us know before we arrived to find this out. The cart paths were under water on many holes and the fairways were very soggy. I would ask for the course conditions when booking, so that you are not disappointed.
