I like this track. Good layout and typically in good shape. I was willing to take a chance on the greens being recently punched because they offered a reduced rate that I thought I was getting on golfnow. When we arrived the two people behind the counter charged the regular rate and basically said take it or leave it. Very unfriendly. Since we drove a long way and I like the course I shrugged it off and hoped for the best. The greens were in fact pretty bad - not even close to being back to normal. But even worse than that was the condition of the bunkers. We had a fairly early tee time and it was obvious the traps had not been raked that morning. Footprints, divots, even gator tracks on pretty much every hole. And the sand in the fairway bunkers is so soft and deep, there’s no hope for a decent lie. I honestly don’t know if I’ll be back, but I get the impression they don’t care.

I play here maybe once a month. Course is normally in good shape - back 9 doesn't drain as well - and the greens were very good this time around. Got a "pre-round warning" from the starter to make sure we stayed ahead of the men's group going out behind us, which was never a problem. When we got to the back nine we were told to slow down so as not to rush the tournament they put out in front of us. Wish courses would think these things through and put a marshall on the course who actually does something about the pace of play.

My buddies and I enjoy playing here. Really good. Value for the money. About the only constructive criticism I have is they need to take better care of the bunkers and they need to be smarter about how they send groups off the tee. We played early on a Saturday morning and unfortunately for me, I found more sand traps than greens. Never had a reasonable lie....footprints, unraked, piles of sand all over... Since we were one of the first groups out I figured the crew never raked the bunkers from the day before. Also, the starter paired a single with my threesome, which is fine, but then he sends another threesome right behind us, and a twosome behind them! Just doesn't make sense to me.

We've had heavy rain for over a week and I didn't really think the course would be open. Not only was it open but in remarkable condition given all the standing water. Greens were especially good - wish all courses around here could keep their greens this good. GSGC is easily in my top 5 in Baldwin County.

Really good golf course for the money. Probably in the best condition it has ever been in. I would prefer the greens a little faster. Tim and his staff are first rate!
