Great Course Walking or Riding

Creve Coeur Golf Course is a fun (very walkable) layout that is perfect for a quick 9 or 18 holes. The staff and grounds crew at Creve Coeur do an excellent job making the course as nice as most others in the St Louis area and the great conditions of their fairways and greens make the game more fun. Definitely Worth Checking Out!

Sugar Creek is in the best shape I've seen for years! They continue making big improvements to the course, including recent smoothing, vertislicing and overseeding the greens, which all rolled beautifully & looked nearly perfect. It also looked like the practice green was being completely redone. (Now it would be great if golfers helped keep the greens nice by fixing their own ball marks! I played behind a foursome of "members" who didn't fix one ball mark all day.) I recommend Sugar Creek to people all the time because I really do think it's a fun and challenging golf course that you can play for a good price.

Now one of my favorite courses to play

Don't let the current 2.5 rating fool you - the condition of Sugar Creek has come a long way from where it was when it actually deserved 2.5 stars. The grounds crew has done a great job to improve course conditions and playability. Fairways and greens were all in great shape. Pace of play was what can be expected on the 4th of July, but is usually very smooth. This week I noticed that a few greens had some repaired areas with new sod, and the greens on 6 and 18 have been fully repaired and re-opened, making your finishing hole a lot more fun! I now consider Sugar Creek to be one of my most favorite courses to play because of its challenging but fun layout, greatly improved conditions, good pace of play, friendly laid-back staff and very playable course conditions, which get better each time I play there. There is little chance of hitting any houses or cars with golf balls, so you can rip your shots and the worst that can happen is that you lose a few balls. I always bring some extra balls when I play Sugar Creek because I tend to lose a few in the woods that line many of the fairways. Give Sugar Creek another shot and I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Making Some Good Improvements

This golf course has been in pretty bad shape for the past few years, and still has some problems, but they seem to be making good improvements that make the course much more playable than in years past. My friends and I had actually stopped playing at Sugar Creek for the most part 2 years ago because the greens were unputtable, and the course was in very bad shape overall, but this season they seemd to have made a turnaround and are heading in the right direction. There were only a few greens with problems, (only 1 green was unputtable - #5 I believe) and a couple greens that look like they had just been repaired. They had 2 makeshift greens setup in the fairways ajacent to the newly-repaired greens on #6 and #18, but the repaired greens look like they will be nice one they are opened back up. Fairways were not perfect (what course's fairways are perfect?) but they had plenty of grass and are greening up nicely. One improvement that needs to be addressed at some point are the cartpaths, but this did not affect my game, so I don't hold it against them too much. The staff was friendly and the pace of play was normal to above average for such a perfect day. I had a good time playing this pretty challenging golf course. They definitely do need to keep working on the course to get it back to where it was a few years ago, but I'm happy to see that they have made a turnaround, and my friends and I will be playing here more often this season as long as the course condition continues to improve.

HORRIBLE CONDITION!! SAVE YOUR TIME/MONEY & PLAY ELSEWHERE

This course is in HORRIBLE shape!! I can't believe they are charging full price for such unplayable conditions! Wish I would have taken some pics. Price should have been closer to $10 for how bad it was. Fairways are 80% dirt with sparse areas of actual living grass/weeds. Tee boxes are half grass/weeds half dirt & hard as a rock. Water around the course is scuzzy and gross. Left my ball in the creek twice because I didn't want that putrid infested water on my hands. Greens were OK - not great, very dry but at least not dead like the rest of the course. They don't seem to spend any time/money on fertilizer, watering or overall course maintenance. To top off the horrible course condition the guy in the lame "pro-shop" was a complete jerk! I don't think I'll be wasting any more time/money by playing at Normandie again for the rest of this season at least because I don't see the course condition getting better anytime soon, no matter what they do. I would not recommend Normandie for anyone else either when you can spend the same amount of money and play on a MUCH nicer, well-kept course, with nicer employees. There are plenty of better courses to chose from in St Louis at the same or better price.

Hello jamstl,

First I want to start off by apologizing for your bad experience at our golf course. Our goal at Normandie is always for our customers to have a welcoming and pleasant day of golf.

Also I do apologize for the condition of the course not meeting your expectations. This has been one of the colder years to date, which makes it hard for the Bermuda in the fairways to pop up and grow with or without water. That is a problem our grounds crew works very hard to fight against this early in the year every year.

If there's anything that we can do for you as management to right this wrong please let us know and we will try to do this for you. Again, we apologize for your experience at Normandie most recently and we hope to have you as a customer in the future to show you this great old school golf course.
