Mission Hills - Gary Player Course
Played On 03/23/2018Fun friendly course
Well conditioned, interesting holes, fun course . Friendly yet still challenging layout
Indian Canyons Golf Resort - South Course
Played On 03/18/2018One of the best in the valley
An interesting layout, great course conditions, nice scenery and very few houses. It's also quite a friendly layout yet still challenging. I'd definitely play this course again.
PGA WEST Jack Nicklaus Tournament Course
Played On 03/05/2018Jack likes bulldozers
Too many contrived architectural elements make this one of my less favourite courses in the valley. Although the course is in great shape, the design is overdone with too many artificial drop-offs and bunkers that don't seem at all natural.
Oshawa Golf Club
Played On 10/02/2017Oshawa's hidden gem
Oshawa Golf & Curling Club is a wonderful 111 year old golf course located right in the heart of Oshawa although you'd never know it was there since you can hardly see any houses on the course and only catch a brief glimpse of the course driving up Park Rd or Rossland Rd. Stanley Thompson, one of Canada's foremost golf architects redesigned several of the holes back in the 1920's.
The course flows through the Oshawa Creek valley and is always in immaculate condition. The fairways are like velvet and the greens run fast and true. It is also an extremely walkable course, and most members do walk although the club has a fleet of the latest electric carts for those who want to ride.
Pace of play is always great, golf rounds are generally 4 hours or less.
The club has just invested in multi-million dollar renovation of their clubhouse and the new restaurants, locker rooms etc are up there with the best of them. Food quality and selection is excellent, and the view from the new patio is the best you'll find in Durham region.
If you're ever thinking of joining a club, the camaraderie and social interactions with many male, female and mixed leagues, and mixed events with dances make this club much more than just a golf course with a nice restaurant. Family activities are also encouraged with an active junior program and weekend family special rates.
Little River Golf & Resort
Played On 03/31/2017Good layout, great pace of play
I think we were almost the only ones on the course, so pace of play was great. The course is obviously suffering from the overbuilding in the Pinehurst area, so prices are great, but you can tell they don't have enough traffic to justify spending more on maintenance. The course has an interesting layout with good variety in the holes. Conditions were quite good. It could easily be one of the better courses in the area with a bit more spending on the greens, bunkers etc.
Cinnabar Hills Golf Club - Lake/Canyon
Played On 03/08/2017Mountain Lakes nines
Great scenery, perfect pace of play. Played as a twosome and hardly had to wait on any tee shots. Course is in very good condition although a bit soft due to resent heavy rains. Lots of birds to view while not hitting a shot.. Golf museum in the clubhouse is very interesting and almost as large as the PGA museum in Florida.
Pasatiempo Golf Club
Played On 03/07/2017Great Alister MacKenzie course
Great classic course. Due to recent rains, much greener than when we played last time 2 years ago during the drought. Course yesterday was in superb condition tee to green, even bunkers were immaculate. A must play course.
PGA WEST Pete Dye Mountain Course
Played On 03/01/2017One of the best in the Coachella Valley
Great course right against the mountain. So close that a wayward shot can easily end up on the mountainside. Course was in great condition. Pace of play was 4hr 15 min which was a bit slow due to a group in front. Marshall spoke to them twice and they finally moved quicker from the 13th hole onwards.
The Country Club at Soboba Springs
Played On 02/28/2017Nice course with no houses
Course was in good condition. Greens were fast and rolling well. Layout was interesting, but reasonably flat. except for a couple of holes. We had a slow group in front of us, and we were playing as a twosome so we spent fair bit of time waiting. Would have been nice if they would have let us play through!
Interesting course, great pace of play
Copperhead is a very well laid out course with interesting diverse holes, and a fair bit of elevation change for Florida.
The two of us also played in 3 hours!
It is also excellent value for the money. It may be a bit more scruffy than some of the over-manicured courses in Naples, but it is still a very worthwhile course to drive up to and play.
Bonita National Golf & Country Club
Played On 11/04/2016Good conditions and pace of play for 9 holes
This is a new course, with housing construction adjacent to several holes, but nor intrusive. A few of the cart paths are temporary and dusty but the course overall is mature, well groomed and interesting to play. The only thing that bothered us was the pace of play was fine for 9 holes, but at the 10th hole a group of 3 young men jumped in and backed things up so that we waited several minutes on every shot on the back nine. It looked like they were employees since we saw them leave their clubs, shoes etc at the end of the round and walk off the course in sandals.
We saw no marshals the whole time and if this is the way the course treats their paying guests, by letting employees hold things up, we won't be back.
TPC Treviso Bay
Played On 11/02/2016Excellent course
Challenging but fair. Fast greens. Almost no houses on the course. A true golf course rather than part of a residential development. One of the best courses in the Naples area.
Hey "Andy2045205" thank you so much for the kind words. We are glad to hear that you enjoyed the scenery and we hope to see you again soon.
Stoneybrook Golf Club
Played On 04/14/2016Fair and fun
A typical Naples golf community complex course, but homes are never in play unlike some courses in the area. Good course conditions, good variety of holes. Pace of play was good as well.
The Dunes Golf & Tennis Club
Played On 04/13/2016A short but challenging course
A great course to hit your irons. Although some holes are long enough for a driver don't be tempted, it will just get you in trouble. The fairways are narrow and there are lots of places where a slight miss will cost dearly. Ball placement is essential.
Hey "Andy2045205" thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. I'm sure any golfers reading your review will appreciate the warning that a strategic approach is required. We hope to see you again soon.
Quail Village Golf Club
Played On 03/27/2015Shorter course, but fun to play
Not quite a full length course, good to take beginners to since it has forward tees that are quite short. From the back tees it is still moderately challenging with some forced carries of ~180 yds. Good pace of play and they allow walking!
One of the few pure golf courses in the Naples area
Most golf courses in the Naples area are part of a housing development, Raptor Bay is one of the 2 that are not, the other is Old Corkscrew.
Raptor Bay purely a golf course that runs through native forests and wetlands.
Esplanade Golf and Country Club of Naples
Played On 02/16/2015New course, not many houses yet
A well designed course that is fairly new and not yet fully mature, but very playable. The back nine had almost no houses on it yet, but it does run through a construction site. The fairways and greens are in good condition for such a new course.
Old Corkscrew Golf Club
Played On 02/10/2015A beautiful but challenging course
Played on the day they were holding a Champions tour qualifier in the morning. Pins were in very tricky positions on some holes. Course is challenging at the best of times, was more so when we played. Still had an enjoyable game
Thank you for the review! We are glad that you still enjoyed your round. We hope to see you back soon.
The Links of Naples
Played On 01/26/2015Good short course
Interesting short course to work on your irons game. A couple of holes could use a driver but it's mainly an irons course, no par 5's all par 3's and 4's. No houses surround it.
Cape Fear National at Brunswick Forest
Played On 12/02/2014Well conditioned course
Interesting holes, all different, good course conditions
Hi "Andy2045205 " We appreciate your honest review. The course and surrounding housing development are still undergoing construction, but this should be finishing up in the next few months. As for the group that jumped in front of you they most likely were held up at the turn and then visited the 19th hole after their round . We do have a strict employee policy that all employees are only allowed to play after 2 pm so we assume this must of been a group that went in for awhile at the turn. We apologize for any other inconvenience and hope that you will come back and give us another try on your next visit from Ontario.
