Golf Club At Terra Lago - South Course
Played On 03/15/2014North course much better than the South
I"d rate the north course a 4 but the south only a 3 . The south doesn't seem as well kept, there are adjacent construction areas and there are several tricked up holes. The North on the other hand was much more enjoyable to play. Both do not have houses lining the course like so many in the valley, so you get a sense of playing by yourself in the desert. If you do play, definitely choose the North course.
Sandpiper Golf Course
Played On 03/11/2014Pebble Beach South
A great course with several holes right on the ocean cliffs that rival the views and challenge of Pebble Beach, but for 1/4 the price. A definite must play in the Santa Barbara area.
Pacific Grove Golf Links
Played On 03/05/2014Great golf on the ocean
This is really two separate golf courses. The front nine is parkland, with loamy soil, but the back nine is very linksy and sandy and flows along the ocean. Great views of pounding surf. The back nine reminded me very much of Scotland, right down to the small white flowers in the fairway. A great course for the money and really deserves the name "poor mans Pebble Beach"
Makani Golf Club
Played On 02/26/2014One of the most pleasant Big Island courses
A nice inland parkland course of over gently rolling terrain. Each hole is unique with enough potential trouble to make the course challenging. A fair course, in good condition.
Makalei Golf Club
Played On 02/15/2014Very hilly course
You can get the longest drive of your life if you hit the downslope correctly on some of the holes. Every hole is either uphill or downhill. A fun course to play but can be quite challenging if you're not hitting it straight.
Wild peacocks on almost every hole will come up and beg for food.
Grand Cypress Golf Club - Links Course
Played On 12/18/2013Links style course
A fun to play links style course with wide open fairways but enough bunkers to get you in trouble if you're not accurate. Greens are quite challenging and provide the real teeth to the course.+
Pine Barrens at World Woods Golf Club
Played On 12/17/2013Driver is not necessarily the best club
Position is more important than length. Lots of waste areas. Ball placement is crucial. Get on the wrong spot on the fairway and it will eat you up. Playing the course the second time will generally give you a better game since you'll know what to expect. Buy the yardage guide at least for the first round.
Cranberry Golf Course
Played On 2/10/2013Nice parkland course
Greens had just been aerated so were a little slow, otherwise course was in good condition. It winds through forests with few houses visible. Not a lot of elevation change so course is quite walkable.
The Golf Club at Dove Mountain - Saguaro/Tortolita
Played On 12/11/2012Beautiful course, no houses, but punitive
Great course but typical Nicklaus, difficult to score on. Greens were evil. Buy a yardage guide since many of the landing areas are not obvious from the tee.
Quarry Pines Golf Club
Played On 11/27/2012Interesting back 9 in the quarry
Course is in good shape. Front 9 are mostly normal golf holes, with a few holes beside I10 so it's not a peaceful desert experience there. Back 9 is where the course is really unique, running through the former quarry. Lots of elevation changes, forced carry, and target shots.
Catalina Course at Omni Tucson National Golf Resort & Spa
Played On 11/26/2012Well maintained challenging course
Easy to bogie hard to par, a challenging course. It's easy to see why the Tucson Open was played here for many years. Great closing hole.
Arizona National Golf Club
Played On 11/24/2012Fairways need water
Although tees and greens are fine, the fairways look like they haven't been watered in a while and are quite hard. It's a mixed blessing, stripe one down the middle and it runs forever, stray left or right and you're easily in the dessert.
Course is beautiful, well designed, but needs some water to make it more playable
Preserve Golf Course
Played On 11/22/2012Tremendous views of the Catalinas
Very interesting course to play. Elevated tees, blind holes, lots of variety. Good condition.
Tubac Golf Resort - Rancho/Otero
Played On 11/21/2012Nice oarkland course with some TinCup history
Pleasant course to play. Good condition. A couple of holes with history from the movie Tin Cup.
The Club at Starr Pass - Rattler/Coyote
Played On 11/20/2012Nice arrangement of different holes
Well maintained course. Quite a few interesting holes that require thought in shot placement to allow reaching the greens in regulation. Not every hole is a grip it and rip it!
North at Randolph Golf Course
Played On 11/19/2012A challenging course
Normal length from the while & blue tees but long off the forward tees (5700yd). Well maintained for a municipal course. Pace of play was great.
The Views Golf Club at Oro Valley
Played On 11/18/2012Fun course, great views of Santa Catalinas
A fair course to play. can get a good score if you know where to place the ball. Good condition.
Highlands at Dove Mountain
Played On 11/16/2012A well maintained interesting course
Very friendly members. Course in good condition, Interesting holes, some great views. A fair and fun course to play.
Forty-Niner Country Club
Played On 11/14/2012Course returning well
The course is recovering well after neglect earlier. The new ownership have overseeded and watered and things are coming along nicely. It's not 100% yet but is very playable. Greens are fine..
SaddleBrooke Ranch Golf Club
Played On 11/11/2012Nice peaceful dessert golf. Away from houses, traffic etc
No houses on the front nine. Only 4 holes with houses on the back Fairly flat, so can be walked, although a few green to tree walks. Well maintained.
