Exceeded Our Expectations

We used a Group Golfer coupon and the value for our money was excellent. Course layout is good and I found the course itself to be somewhat challenging. I wouldn't mind walking this course someday as it would be awesome exercise, there is a reason it is called Dunham HILLS!

Great Course But Obnoxious Golf Carts

Moose Ridge was in very good shape and the greens were rolling very well. The entire course was in really good condition.

Main complaint is the GPS they have installed on the golf carts is very restrictive on where the cart can go. I understand now allowing carts around tees, greens, and areas where water might collect but the carts seemed to shut off randomly while driving through the rough. I thought the rough is where golf carts should be driven?

Stress Free Round of Golf

First thing that stands out about this course is the greens are small but still undulating to the point of it can be difficult to hold pitch shots. The greens were rolling very nicely though. The staff was very friendly and I found the beverage selection to be better than most courses I play.

Rammler is a fairly easy course and I recommend it if you're looking to just have fun and build confidence (I hadn't played in 2 weeks and shot my best front 9 ever.

I didn't play the Par 3 course but it looks like a great way to tune up the wedge game.

If I lived closer to Rammler I would play it once a week for twilight!

Good Layout But Not Maintained Well

This is my first time playing Inkster Valley in 8 years and I came away disappointed. It appears there is not a lot of maintenance effort going on as the sand traps are starting to be filled with grass and the greens are rolling very slow do to not being cut for seemingly days and ball marks all over. Course has some potential due to challenging layout but for now I would consider it a "twilight with the family" course only.

Also, none of the golf carts having windshields is a bit surprising.

Coyote is Always Reliable

The South Lyon area is blessed with 4-5 legitimate golf courses and in my opinion Coyote is the best value of them all. Greens were rolling quick and they are spacious so if you play the course 3 times per week chances are you will get 3 totally different hole setups.

Minor critique is it is probably time to upgrade the cart paths a little bit. I have been playing here for almost 15 years and they have no made any improvements to them during this time.

Course Has Improved!

I last played Whispering Pines near the end of the 2020 season and came away hoping someone would put some TLC into it. This time our group noticed the improved course condition and all thought it was a great value.

Better Than Expected

I played the this course last Summer 2020 and I thought it was in better shape this time around. I was surprised at how quickly the greens were rolling and in fact I didn't leave one putt short the entire day which is unlike me. The bunkers were soft even though most golfers still don't rake their traps.. Once Summer 2021 gets here I would expect this course to be in really good condition.

Thank you for reviewing the course. Let us first start by apologizing for the poor experience you had during your visit. Your feedback about the sand traps is important to us. We are working to get everything at the course up to par. We have a project to tile the bunkers and restore them. The current condition is not the standard we strive to achieve. We are going to escalate your feedback to our team so we can make improvements before your next game. We are glad to see you rated the course layout to be great during your game. We will continue to work towards an excellent experience by using your comment for guidance. Thank you for playing Chemung Hills Golf Club. We hope to see you again soon.

Favorite course in mid-Michigan

I think you could argue $70 is the best deal in the state, and that includes a good amount of range balls for free. Bucks Run is a very playable course for higher handicap players and I think it’s a great time for large groups of players. The greens run fast but I thought they held approach shots well. Great mix of holes to start as the first hole is pretty easy but the second is probably the most difficult hole on the course. Only complaint is I thought the beer selection on the beverage cart was average and they didn’t have any seltzer’s.

Very challenging

Second most difficult course I played this season but I’m glad I played it. Kind of a strange layout with an extra par 3 and par 5. The front nine has three par-3’s in four holes. My advice is to really prioritize the approach shots and strive for advantageous angles into the green. Greens were very deep and undulating and I’m guessing they were rolling quicker than an 11.5 Greens didn’t hold approach shots well which got annoying. Bunkers didn’t have as much sand as most courses do.

My only complaint is the staff was cold towards us. We were told 4 times by different employees to keep pace of play because they were so busy. On hole 15 we were advised we were 4 minutes behind. 4 minutes behind is not a big deal in my book.

Well Thought Out Design

I had wanted to play this course for 3 years and I’m glad I finally did. The property is beautiful and expansive. Course was more difficult than I first thought it would be as the greens had many subtle breaks that added more putts than it should have. Fairways seemed pretty narrow and next time I will leave driver in the bag more.

The snack bar is conveniently placed so you can turn quickly. Best part of the course was the seemingly brand new carts (which explains the $18 cart fee). I had forgotten my range finder but the GPS on the carts was the most detailed I had ever seen.

A True Golf Gem!

Well worth the drive from Detroit to stay at this beautiful property. It is not overly long but still challenging and fair. The course is actually more wide open than what Google Earth would indicate. If you get a little errant off the tee you have hope of finding your ball. Be prepared to see tons of deer, they are brave and will come right up to you.

#18 is my favorite finishing hole in MI. It’s a long par 5 straight downhill. It’s a blind tee shot and the course installed a periscope type thing to see when the group in front of you clears. #17 will be the toughest club selection of the round with a steep downhill longish par 3.

Make sure you grab lunch at Famers at the resort, it is the UP sports hall of fame. Also, for exercise do 4-5 climbs up the ski jump steps! I can’t wait to go back, currently trying to talk my buddies into a trip!

Most Difficult Course In MI

This is probably the most creative golf course I have played, I would say it’s definitely the most challenging. The most attention should be placed on the approach shots. The greens are fast and many seem to be on a plateau. Coming in too hot will cause the ball to roll off into collection areas. Make sure you get a yardage book in the pro shop. I couldn’t imagine trying to navigate the course without it since there are so many elevation changes and seem to be a couple blind shots. My advise for first time players is to move up a set of tees compared to normal.

My only negative feedback would be even though it’s beautiful and challenging, some of the hole are laid out in an unfair way. I don’t like smashing drives down the fairway and not being able to find them since the ball crashed off a rock formation.

I shot 10 strokes above my average. Really glad I finally played it!

Has Potential But Needs TLC

You can tell that this was a very nice course at one point but for some reason they are just not taking care of it. The course layout is fantastic with tree lined holes and all kinds of elevation changes, especially on the back 9. The greens have not been cut in a while it feels, they were very slow and the fairways had many dead spots. The course has the potential to be among the best in Livingston County. Hopefully they begin to take care of it!

Most Affordable Metro Park in SE MI

Willow Metro is a really fun design that uses dog legs and protected and undulated greens to demand precision both from tee and approach. Just hitting a GIR does not guarantee a par as I 3-putted four holes. I found the greens very challenging to read.

I paid $30 for Sunday late morning which seems like a good deal.

Best Greens I've Played in 2020

I have played Coyote more times in the past 10 years than any other course in the area and this is the best condition it has been in. The greens rolled perfectly and did not see any dead spots.

The front and back 9's are exact opposites of each other so the course is really fun to play. Front 9 is in the woods and back nine is more links style. $60 peak fee is well worth it. Coyote practice facility is top notch with full driving range, chipping green, and large putting green.

Really Solid Layout

The back nine is fun and challenging with the exception of the artificial island tee box on the long par 5. The front nine is pretty wide open and tough to lose a ball on. Bunkers and rough were well maintained but there were diseased spots on multiple fairways and greens. I personally thought the greens were tough to read properly .

The amenities are pretty basic. I don't like how they have the practice green all the way between #1 tee and #2 green. I paid $46 on Sunday morning which was $6 too much.

Wide Open Let It Fly!

This course is fun because it is very wide open and fairly short with the exception of 3/4 of the par 3's that are guarded by trees. You can score well even if you play conservatively off the tee, I played the par 5's at E.

The sand in the bunkers was in great shape and allowed you to splash out with no problem. My only complaint about the course design is most of the greens were crowned unfairly. For a seemingly really old course they do a really good job of taking care of it.

Flattest Course I've Played

The course was in better shape than I anticipated since it is so old and the price was low for peak time. I would recommend this course to someone who is looking to score low. There is almost no elevation change throughout the round, truly the flattest course I have ever played.

Complaints include the gimmicky 186 yard PAR 4, and the golf carts were in rough shape.

PRO's - Very easy course, greens in solid shape, and the staff was very friendly. Wesburn also has real sand in the bunkers that I found myself in often!

Good Value

I am a believer in 'you get what you pay for'. Downing Farms isn't going to be labeled as prestigious but it is very welcoming for the not so serious golfer. I paid $25 on a Sunday morning and can say that value is hard to beat. Perfect course if you are just looking for a relaxing round.

They do need to mow the fairways and greens though. Slowest greens I have putted on this season.
