University Club of Kentucky - Wildcat Course
Played On 08/04/2017Much improved
The Wildcat course is in the best shape it's been in years. The only knock is that the sand in the bunkers needs to be replenished. As the summer has gone on, the course has improved, from the tee boxes to the fairways to the greens. The re-routing of the holes on the back 9 was a brilliant move, finishing on a risk/reward par 5 is a great way to end the round.

Very good and challenging layout, however the course conditions have been compromised by lack of rain in the area. Pace of play was pathetic, it would be helpful if someone from the staff drove around and checked, even after prompted to by customers on the course. They even allowed a fivesome to play, which along with a slow foursome, backed up play, yet they contend that 4 hours and 45 minutes is the norm. That's one of the major problems in golf today, slow play and for a course to promote slow play is unacceptable. The course is great, but avoid dealing with Mark in the pro shop. Extremely rude and condescending, especially if you're playing there through GolfNow.
Houston Oaks Golf Course
Played On 08/28/2015Good course
Nice course but lack of rain for the past month has the course showing stress. Fast and hard greens. Look forward to returning after Mother Nature greens the course up again. Rough was rock hard but most courses are now. Friendly staff.
Golf Club of The Bluegrass
Played On 05/25/2014Fairways Wonderful, Greens Not So Much
One of the most underrated courses in central Kentucky. Fairways and tee boxes (with one notable exception) in excellent condition. The only negatives to the course are the greens and subpar bunkers. The greens are very slow. Some bunkers are ok, but for the most part, most are hard and need new sand. The golf course superintendent needs to go to USGA school for maintaining proper greens. He/she gets an A+ for the tee boxes and fairways, a C- for the bunkers and a D for the greens. It's hard to play this course one day and another in central Kentucky the next due to the pace of the greens.

One of my favorite courses in central Kentucky, but very disappointed in the conditions of the bunkers. I won't return unless the bunkers are repaired and maintained on a regular basis.
