Ridgeview Ranch Golf Club
Played On 04/29/2020Tray and Play
I was not sure until all of this madness took place that I really understood why men love this game so much....no offense intended ladies. Women tend to bond quickly but guys can spend their entire lives struggling to develop one deep, meaningful and lasting relationship. Golf and everything around it provides the most fertility soil for men to develop meaningful friendships.
I met a wonderful gentleman named Tray who works at Ridgeview Ranch GC. Our brief interaction and warm exchange made my time there much more meaningful. If you go there, say hello to him.
Our home course has been closed. My friends and I have played RR several times and enjoyed it. This track is full of challenges that requires you to know what club to pull. Doubt on this course will put big numbers on your card.
Cover-19 is not only an enemy to our health. This virus has closed the place where money is exchanged after a round, lies are told, laughter happens over a beer (or in my case a Dr Pepper). This is where the weeds are pulled out of each of our lives. We share, we hope, we plan, we care about each other. When this virus is defeated and the church on the course is opened again, I hope to see you at a table in the snack bar or hanging around the Pro Shop shooting the breeze with your buddies.
Thanks Tray for reminding me why I love this game.

Duck Creek Golf Course
Played On 08/30/2017Off the back nine and stabbed in the back on the front
Mike was friendly and talkative as I waited on my friend to arrive. He is an older man and kept me entertained with several stories about coaching basketball, serving in the Army, and a black coach of whom he spoke well. He sent us off the back nine telling us that no one was going off the front because a tournament that started at 5:30. He said that we would have plenty of time to finish. We finished the back in under 2 hours. We went to hole# 1 to discover that 5 groups where on that hole. We asked Mike about it and he showed me who he really was. He was rude and rebelled as the Pro told him to give us a return pass for 9 holes. We where insulted publicly in front of other customers. My friend became angry and walked out leaving the course. I calmly tried to reason with Mike without success. He ignored me and then continued his condescending conversation as he refused to do what the Pro told him with the Pro standing right there. Finally, he responded and I stated that I would not return to Duck Creek to play again. I am an African American minister. My friend is Mexican and a 1 handicap golfer with extensive experience in this industry. All of this embarrassment happened in the presence of several men who were not our ethnicity. We paid! We should have been treated like customer instead of suspects. I am hard pressed to believe that Mike would have behaved this way with the other men standing in the room.
Hello, Carey. We are beyond happy to hear that you enjoyed a great day at our course. Positive experiences make lifelong golfers.
