Spring Meadow Golf Course
Played On 06/19/2022A Return
I had played this course regularly when at the Shore prior to COVID. It was a local track that had some good ideas but had fallen down. The course seemed better Sunday on a beautiful day for golf. I went out early and was rewarded with a fast moving round. The greens were in good condition but were fairly slow. Fairways were lush with a defined rough line. Tee boxes were grass covered another improvement over recent years. The bunkers were better defined but still were shallow
Unsure about certain improvements and changes however. The third hole played shorter with all tees placed on the front tee box limiting the challenge of a long dogleg right that from the back stretched beyond 420. The changes to the ring sand bunker on three probably decreases maintenance but did not improve the hole. The back tee at 7 still has trees overspreading the tee box. Eight is just a nightmare architecturally a 400 yard par 5 which turns sharp left and like a snake too narrow. Thirteen has a new hazard where there was a bunker on the right which adds nothing to the dogleg left. They also need to reopen the back tee on 15 to restore the challenge of the risk reward drivable par 4. However the course in much better maintained than in the past and it is a fun course with possibilities
Pine Ridge Golf Club
Played On 06/05/2022Long but beautiful day
I played as a single and walked while playing partners rode. I was inspired to play it as they had an early time 7:57am and looked a bit like the USGA Womens Open course. The layout is a bit funky in that there are several lengthy walks between holes. The course requires multiple signs to allow players to find their way as several times you loop around holes to the the next tee Conditioning was better than I expected following reviews. Greens appeared to be consistent speed wise but their structures are heavily contoured. Pace of play was strikingly slow especially given that it was early in the day and not more than a handful of groups in front of me. For us to finish at 1:15pm was unbelievable. The front nine which is much shorter than the back yielded waits on every shot and play was poorly paced at over 2:30 for the nine. We then waited on almost heavy hole on the back and was a grind that led to uninspired play. It was especially difficult as there were no benches on the course for sitting. I guess not much play except for players in carts. The course was pretty on a gorgeous day
Skyway Golf Course at Lincoln Park West
Played On 12/17/2021A Closing Event
On December 17th a warm Friday afternoon, rather than go for a Holiday lunch, I went for a quick 9 at one of my favorite courses. Skyway at Lincoln Park is an oasis far from the City yet only a few miles from The Holland Tunnel. It is a place of great contrasts only steps from the jammed six lane road with The Skyway able to maybe reached by a mighty Drive. It is 9 holes which are wonderfully placed creating a beautiful place to play. The first is short par 4 that goes down to the left with a large green with great undulation. A hole to make a par The second is an uphill par 3 with a large green That Friday from thee tee, it played nearly 200 yards into a stiff breeze , a real challenge Next is the par 5, third hole, a great risk reward hole. A hole that rolls down to left from the tee. The shallow green rises on a cliff daring and challenges players to attack across the hazard. For the less adventurous you can bale left on your second and attack the shallow rolling green while remaining mindful of the dangers short and right. The fourth is a short 3 that is well bunkered and a green bisected by ridges is only a wedge away Five is a long uphill par 4 that goes forever and especially when it plays into the wind. The fairway is surrounded by high dunes on each side compelling a shot in the fairway. Six is a par 5 and represent an opportunity to score. A long drive in the fairway favoring the left side can set up an opportunity to attack the green as it plays downhill to the green. Seven is the last par 4 and a strategy hole as this dogleg left features water on the left side of the fairway to the green. The green is at the top of the plateau with water short and left. Bombers can also choose to along the right edge of the fairway set up an easier pitch to the green. Eight is the toughest par 5 with a carry of 200 yards at least over water and marsh to the fairway. From there a second shot must negotiate a water grave that determines where you should play. The green has a hazard left and a par here is a great score. In fact many days bogey came be excellent especially when into the wind. The last is a medium length par 3 with another interesting green with ridges and valleys. Conditions are always good and it plays great when firm and fast. It is always a great experience

Played On 11/21/2021A Good Fall Round.
This is a really nice golf course. Varied holes make the course a fun play. Challenging holes are mixed in with player friendly holes. Plays through some houses. For a late fall round the conditions were good. Greens were top dressed so they were not fast. The only other issue we’re leaves in some fairways that could have blown to the edges. Play moved at a good clip
Beaver Brook Country Club
Played On 11/06/2021Tricky Tricky Tricky
The course is interesting. Many tight fairways especially on the front nine. Staff was great helped us join friends who booked a twosome a group behind us. The pins were in tough to impossible spots. Several pins were cut in spots which at best challenging at worst unfair and inaccessible. The ninth hole was a classic example in that the pin was near the back right corner of the green. I was on the green green 15 feet short. From there I proceeded to knock it back and forth repeatedly as a putt from short of the hole was next to impossible as it would pick up speed just short of the hole and role 10 feet past. On the next hole the pin was set beyond a false front, shots short of the hole made a u-turn and rolled back off the front. In all the course is in great shape, staff was great and it is a good challenge
Green Knoll Golf Course
Played On 07/18/2021Good Course for A Round
The course was in good condition even with heavy rain in the area. Course was not overly challenging and was a fair test for golfers of average ability. The course was not memorable though. The front nine features two holes that grabbed attention six and eight which had fairway water hazards. The back also had an interesting hole 15 which a green perched above a hazard. The greens were slow probably due to the rain the day before. It appeared to take the break out of the greens. I would play it again but will not rush to get there for an immediate replay
Clearview Park Golf Course
Played On 04/10/2021Just as I Remember Lacking Character and Charm
I had not played Clearview in over 10 Years. I wish that I could say that I missed it. It is at best a marginal test. A par 70 with 12 par 4s that play largely in tree lined corridors up and back. I realize that the parcels terrain may have led to this routing but it lacks inspiration. Only one or two real doglegs No 6 and 12. And they run parallel across the property. There are also two par 3s, No 4 and 16 that run cross the property. The fairway corridors are spacious and it is good learning course. The greens were quite bumpy and a bit patchy. They were also rock hard and repelled even wedges. That could be due largely to the weather it has been dry but I am unsure. A redesign might be in order possibly using the pond near the Clubhouse could improve the layout. Also maybe some bunkering in the fairways and green side could add variety

New York Country Club
Played On 08/01/2021Tough Greens
The course was in good condition. The pin positions were very challenging. While the greens are large several are segmented by ridges and spines which create smaller optimal sections where you need to be in order to have a two putt opportunity. For example the pin on 1 was in the back left corner. I hit a nice pitch for a third shot but it hit from the spine that dissected the green my ball went to the right and back and settled in the center portion of the green. From there I needed to putt over the spine which threw my ball hard to the left leaving me a 6 footer with almost a foot of break. Easy 3 putt. Many other greens similar but it is a fun challenge
Skyway Golf Course at Lincoln Park West
Played On 07/26/2020Great 9 hole Experience in an Unlikely Location
Approximately 15 minutes from Holland Tunnel, a golf oasis awaits. Located on Route 9 South in a highly industrial area lies 9 beautiful golf holes. Hudson County has managed to transport golfers away with 3 par 3s, 3 par 4s and 3 par 5s. There are 5 sets of tees designed to
allow all golfers to play from a comfortable distance but maintain the challenge.. Most greens are large and undulating. The course is links style with high mounding and fescue separating the holes. Yesterday they went the extra mile with a Ranger driving the course to contact free water and iced towels. An even better idea.

Played On 05/09/2020Nice Beginning on a Cold Daye
I had played this course many times. First time walking it due to COVID. It is tough walk due to the Course being built between houses in spots. Also long walk between 9 and 10. Course was in good shape. It was aerated at the endogenous last month and has grown in nicely.
Fantastic! We are so pleased that you enjoyed your time at Wind Watch Golf & Country Club. We look forward to seeing you at the course soon for another 5-star experience!

The Golf Club at Middle Bay
Played On 09/22/2017Great Golf Course with Fierce Greens and Tough Pins
A tough test on Friday afternoon awaited yesterday. The course was strafed by wind The greens were some of the fastest around and challenged throughout the round. The fairways were pristine. The Course has the ability to smack you in the face if you do not pay respect it with multiple water hazards and bunkers Cantnot wait to play it again
Lido Golf Club
Played On 09/17/2016A Great Layout Improved Confitions
This amazing layout, a wind blown links course, has always been a great challenge. Wind blown as it stands on the bayside of the barrier island. Water and wind affect play tremendously. The greens are very good.though a little slow Tees a spotty. Fairways are uneven and the rough is at best spotty and lacks uniformity. In the future I would hope to see continuing improvement of fairways and rough. Fairways could improve to the ball sit uniformly. A nice thick rough at a uniform height would be excellent and turn this course into a championship caliber layout
GOLFRICHANDJIM,
Thank you for the great 4-Star review! We are glad you enjoy the challenge the course has to offer. Come play again soon!

Played On 03/26/2016Good Value Pick
Have played course severAl times. Conditions are good generally. Greens are fast and tricky. Course has multiple doglegs. Course goes up and done hills and there are sloping fairways beginning with Number 2. A yardage book assists with routing
Thank you for the review and feedback. We're looking forward to seeing you play again soon.
The Architects Golf Club
Played On 08/16/2015Nice Course Good Views
It is a nice course that provides a look at the history of the game. Every hole has the styling of a particular architect. Yet the course seems to come together well. Course plays long especially the concluding five holes with 14, 15 and 16 capable of stretching to nearly 500 yds. Greens later in the day show stress from ballparks but overall good conditioning. A yardage is help as it not defines the hole, provides distances, but also gives a little information on the architecture. A nice value. Bring bug spray gnats are annoying
Twisted Dune Golf Club
Played On 05/24/2015A FUN JOURNEY
Had played there only once before. Just could not get passed how difficult the course was from the back tees which I played at the group's desire. Key is picking proper teeing ground as course can be sinister if you are not playing it at a proper distance to reach wider portions of landing areas. Holes are well set up and each is unique. Avoid fescue and dunes that border fairways. Large numbers are possible from those areas. The back nine is filled with signature holes including 13, 14 and 16.
Mill Pond Golf Course
Played On 10/26/2014Value Pick Comes Up Roses
We were looking for a course on Friday for the next day. Took this course because it had times. Layout is impressive. Starts as a links course except that it is lush with. Multiple water hazards. There are well placed bunkers on several holes. Greens were aerated recently so they were bumpy
