Ledges Golf Club
Played On 08/16/2017Well oganized event
I played with 130 people from the Safari Club who represents one of the largest group of friendly golfers in New England. The group was welcomed by a staff of trained personnel upon arrival into the parking area. The staff took your bags and placed them on your specified golf cart assigned to a predesignated hole. The course was in excellent condition and the pace of play was somewhat tolerable based the the amount of golfers in the event. Many thanks to the Recreation Department of South Hadley and all the fine staff on the golf course, dining facilities and pros shop.
Mount Snow Golf Club
Played On 07/26/2017Effecient and Professional staff
We recently played with a group of over 100 who belong to the Safari Club. One of the most organized group of older men and women who enjoy the game of golf.
The most impressive group of staff and crew at any of the golf courses we play. Upon arrival you were greeted by a friendly staff unloading your clubs and placing them on your designated cart. The golf course was in excellent shape and has several blind shots which are fairly difficult to play. The club had a staff of spotters on each blind shot hole to speed up the process by signaling players when they were able to hit rather than having each group drive ahead to find out the status of the group ahead. This was a valuable asset the club made available to our outing. The Pro Shop did offer a discount to all Safari club members. This was a very well organized event and many thanks to all of the Mount Snow personal.
Orchards Golf Club
Played On 07/10/2017Donald Ross design
We played here with over 100 people from the Safari Club. This is a Donald Ross designed course which has hosted the Women's U.S. Open and many other significant events. The course is extremely challenging with many bowl shaped greens which require precision shots to specific locations on the green. The Orchards Golf Club was very gracious to allow the Safari Club to hold its event at this location. Thank you to the members for allowing us to share this magnificent course with our group. The facilities and wrap around deck were a pleasant relief after a hot day in the sun. The buffet served by the club was very good and the bar service and wait staff were extremely effective. Many thanks to the P.G.A. Professional staff and the superintendent and his staff for a fine groomed golf course. Thanks again for allowing our group the pleasure of being able to play one of the finer courses in the United States.
Hermitage Golf Club
Played On 06/21/2017Very scenic and challenging
We played with over 100 golfers from the Safari Club. The staff was very friendly and had personnel waiting to bring your clubs upon arrival to your designated cart. The event coordinator and P.G.A. Professional had everything planned efficiently and on time. The pace of play was very good considering the amount of golfers at this event. The course was a little wet but the club allowed carts on the course and asked that wet areas be avoided. The rates during the week are extremely good and would be a great time for foursomes. The dining room is very large and accommodating. The only drawback was that the price for wine was $15 a glass which seemed to be a little outrageous even though it is a resort area.
Crumpin-Fox Club
Played On 05/17/2017Improvements are ongoing
The Safari Club of Western Mass. had the privilege of playing one of the finer courses in western Mass. There were well over 100 golfers who participated in this fun outing. The pace of play was tolerable based on the number of golfers. The course was going through quite a few of renovations including the removal of many trees on the perimeter of the course. This enables more sunlight to improve the condition of the course and speeds up play. There was work being done on the cart paths and construction of a new patio area. The only minor complaint was that the bar service at the end of round was somewhat slow because of the amount of players converging at the end of the shotgun schedule. The course management was extremely generous in offering discounts in the pro shop plus a demonstration of Bridgestone equipment. This is a course highly recommended for group outings and food service is available for large groups at the end of the round.
Tekoa Country Club
Played On 05/10/2017Course friendly for group outings.
We have a special group of over 100 golfers named The Safari Club who play different courses each week. We start the season each year at Tekoa and End each season at Tekoa.
The manager/professional is very well organized and shows genuine interest in our group outing. The staff makes the group feel very welcomed and sets up a buffet at the end of the round. The course was in very good shape and the speed of play for over 100 golfers was excellent. I would highly recommend the course for a group outing or a nice leisurely round of a foursome. There is also the banquet hall to cater to large parties for special functions or weddings.
Oak Ridge Golf Club
Played On 06/08/2016Great public course
The Safari Club which is a group of men and women who are retired or close to retirement plays courses each week in Massachusetts and Connecticut . It is mainly a group who plays for fun and donates money to the Shriner's Hospital in Springfield Mass. We had the opportunity to play Oak Ridge Golf Club in Southwick, Ma. during this week. It is a public course run by the Strycharz family and it known for it's expertise in running outing and banquets for large groups. The golf course was in excellent shape and our group outing was very organized from the signing in the pro shop to the organization of the golf carts and the hole assignment. Whether you want to play as a foursome or in a group outing you will not be disappointed.
Crumpin-Fox Club
Played On 06/01/2016Efficient Organization
I played with 144 golfers of the Safari Club which is a organization which plays different courses during the summer months. This year it is donating money to Shriner's Children Hospital in Springfield, Ma. The course management and the Pro Shop staff were extremely organized and had all the carts set up for beginning of play. They offered free range balls to use before teeing off for play. Everything went perfectly from the speed of play and the condition of the course. The kitchen staff had prepared a buffet for us at the end of play which was very satisfactory. This course is highly recommended for large group outings.
Thanks for your review, Donald! We loved having the Safari Club play our course and we hope you all come back in the future!
