English Turn Golf & Country Club
Played On 04/05/2023Close to NOLA, good, and not overly expensive
Good track, convenient to downtown. Pretty generous off the tee, but with water on 17 of 18 holes. Approaches are more demanding and greens are tough. No gps in carts and plenty of hazards; a handheld gps is helpful to see hole layouts. I got a reduced green fee because I was a single and the particular tee time only had room for one player.
Chanticleer at Greenville Country Club
Played On 2/14/2013Outstanding and challenging
Fairway grass was still dormant in February, but greens were fast and smooth. Not overly long, but as much golf as you'd ever want. Landing areas are pretty generous but miss hit an approach and you should expect to surrender a few strokes. The stream that runs through the property is used extensively and there is water on most holes. It's amazing how often that stream comes into play! This is a shot makers course. If you are a player, this place is a treat. Duffers will struggle here (*note slope and course rating). Though not as old, if you've ever wanted to play on a course from the golden age, like a pasatiempo or bethpage, this has that vibe. Price might seem steep, but this is a top 100 course and in a bigger market would be a lot more.
The Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail at Ross Bridge
Played On 2/6/2013Great golf experience
Big, bold, visually impressive, and fun. Greens were nearly perfect. Super long, but if played from the right tees, more playable than other RTJ courses. Unless you put one in the water, you'll have a hard time losing a ball here. Room to miss on most holes.
Red Tail Golf Club
Played On 8/8/2012worth the effort
One of the best public tracks in the state. Worth the money and drive from the Boston area. A good variety of holes, lots of elevation change, plenty of options for both heroic and prudent play.
Dear blueg1rl,
We are truly happy that you liked the course! We always remind people that while we may be the 4th longest course in the world, it certainly has wide fairways to tame it down a bit. Thank you for providing feedback, and we hope to see you back at Ross Bridge again soon!
