… it’s a worthwhile play. Could use more watering, but the track has enough interesting holes to keep your interest.

Course really needed watering. A so-so track whose chief positive is lower green fees.

Played On 04/13/2021Unpretentious, solid course
Apparently the ownership change has improved the course. We enjoyed a solid track with excellent greens that rolled true and sand traps that we’re diabolically positioned.
Fairways weren’t manicured to the level of high end courses, but it was sneaky difficult and a fair test from the tips. Worth a look.
Thank you for taking the time to review the course and rate us. We are going to pass along your feedback to the staff. Thanks for visiting Palm Desert Resort Country Club! We hope to have you back again soon!
Ventana Canyon - Canyon Course
Played On 04/10/2021Hole-in-the-Wall Mountain Highlight
Obviously a well-managed, well-maintained track, as one would expect given the price of play. But was surprised that the lightening fast greens did not roll smoothly and were marred by ball marks.
The amenities are considerable, the practice area is top shelf, and the Par 3 Hole-In-The-Wall is one of the most visually appealing holes anywhere.
I’m not convinced it was worth the money, but then most playing it are not particularly concerned with cost.

... from a JWM course. Nice, fun layout with plenty of target golf shots. Greens weren’t particularly receptive (early April) but rolled well and offered plenty of challenging reads. For a mid-week outing, there was no one on the course.

Quarry Pines Golf Club
Played On 01/20/2021A Novelty
I had to play a course that was once a rock?quarry and I’m really glad I did. The novelty of the back nine was truly unique.
That said, the course itself, condition-wise, was very average even for January. So ... a one-off.
Thank you for playing and leaving a review. We appreciate it!

Very scenic, engaging track with a premium on placement off the tee. Bring your A (for Accuracy) Game or it’ll eat you alive.

The layout is varied, greens are firm and fast, sand traps are almost always in play and well maintained, and the practice facility complete.
One of the better tracks and $ values in Central Tejas.
Thanks so much for the wonderful feedback! We really appreciate you taking the time to play our course and leave us a wonderful review!
Harbor Lakes Golf Club
Played On 11/09/2020Super Value
Course was in very good condition for November: sparse fairway grass expected as course enters dormancy, but greens were in excellent shape in terms of roll.
Good luck on the par 5 14th hole “peninsula” hole. It’s a challenge.
Overall well worth the fee.

You won’t be disappointed, and I offer that having played it the very week the greens were punched and sanded.
Very easy to project the course under optimal conditions. The fairways are well kept, tee boxes are large and varied, the track is mostly forgiving off the tee, and greens are protected by traps and mounds. Overall, it’s as long or as short (7265 to 5717) as you feel capable of playing.

The shot-maker’s layout isn’t as well manicured as it could be, but it’s as challenging a track as you’ll play at 6,372 yards (blues). Are all the sand traps being turfed? Seemed like it. Hopefully course management will shift attention to fairway and rough improvement/maintenance and make the overall experience an even more memorable one.

Great track, great variety ... what happened to the greens? They looked and played as if they were dead. No mention and no rate reduction before paying full price fees. Call ahead and ask before playing. If the issues have been resolved, you’ll enjoy it.
Canyon West Golf and Sports Club
Played On 04/16/2020Water, Quick
Love the overall track; it’s varied and has elevation changes aplenty. But a lack of water has resulted in hard pan fairways and little grass growth.
Still one of the most enjoyable, entertaining courses I’ve played in the Northcentral Texas area.

Played On 03/21/2020A Fine Experience
For mid-March play after several days of rainy weather, Canyon West delivered and then some. It played fairly long from the Blues given the wet conditions. The fairways were still dormant, but the greens rolled fairly well, the sand traps were better than most, and the diversity of the track and, particularly, the elevation changes from tee to green were a pleasure to take on.
If a could stand the Texas heat, I'd come back and play it when it shows it's best.
Squaw Valley Golf Course - Comanche Lakes Course
Played On 03/11/2020Delivers
I first played the course in November as the course entered dormancy and was blown away by the great condition. It delivered again, although the greens were much less smooth due to an emerging infestation of poa annua. Still a great layout.
The Golf Club Star Ranch
Played On 03/06/2020Uninspired but ...
The practice areas — pitching, putting, driving range — are among the best I’ve experienced, public or private. Great place to tune up.
Aside from the dazzling par 3 Fifteenth, however, nothing about the layout really stood out.
Very easy course from the whites. Greens had been punched and dressed the day I played, but held and rolled reasonably well given their conditions.
I could see playing it again in-season, but from the blues.
Wow! We are so happy you enjoyed your round with us! We look forward to seeing you again soon at San Ignacio Golf Club.
