Ironwood Links Golf Course
Played On 8/2/2013Good for the short game
This is an executive course, so it is naturally shorter; no par 5's. Front nine is wide open, but the fairways are narrower than a longer course and the greens are a little smaller. Be aware that the rough is a little thicker/deeper than the average course. Don't think about chip and run unless you have a wide short grass opening to the green; the rough is extra deep/thick around the greens. Sometimes even when the grass is short in front of the greens your ball will not get the roll you expect. Make sure your first approach shot hits the green and not before. *Be wary of the short par 3 2nd hole; it is ranked 1st or 2nd in difficulty over the whole course for a reason. Water on three sides; know your distance.
Back nine is the opposite, all wooded; you will see a 4 stroke difference in difficulty between the back nine and the front nine. It starts off with a 400yd par 4. Other tough holes is a 212 yard par 3 17th and the par 4 18th with a slight dogleg left; there are 2 water gullys and off the tee you are hitting from an open area into a narrower wooded area.
Well maintained course.
