The Walker Golf Course at Clemson University

Played On 10/11/2023Much Improved
My wife and I played here in early Spring and we found the course in poor condition. This time around, there have been some dramatic improvements in course conditions, especially with the greens that ran fast and true.
All staff were warm and friendly. I will definitely return for another round.
Springdale Country Club
Played On 06/05/2023Mountain Gem
I live in Sapphire NC and the only 18-hole course near me is in shamefully poor condition. And they charge $90 bucks to play. I took an 80-minute drive to Springdale and saw how a well-managed club presents a golf course to be proud of.
I arrived about 45 minutes early for my 8:30 tee time. The assistant pro and golf director greeted me warmly and allowed me to take off early as a single. Halfway down the first hole, I noticed the GPS system was not operating. There was a man watering the first green who came to my aid. Turns out he was the greens superintendent. He not only fixed my GPS, he spent several minutes describing the course and providing those caveats that golfers new to a course really appreciate.
The course itself was in fabulous condition: tees, fairways, greens - all impeccably kept. The layout was challenging enough without a lot of those ridiculous holes you sometimes find on mountain course (well, maybe the Springdale Spasm, hole #13, is an exception.) Plenty of landing room on most drives.
The golf shop and clubhouse look brand new and blend in nicely with the surroundings. The whole place exudes a fine private club feel.
All-in-all a great way to spend a June morning; I am already planning a few more of those beautiful 8--minute mountain drives to Springdale. Kudos to all involved in that operation.

Although I can be a serious golfer, I love to play a course that has the level of aesthetic beauty that distracts me from the quality of my play. Other than the clubhouse and a crumbling barn off one of the fairways on the front nine, I didn't spot another man-made structure. Sweeping, undulating fairways combined with impeccably kept bunkers, greens, and fringes made for one of the most enjoyable rounds I have experienced in quite a while. If Twain had played this one, he wouldn't have considered golf a walk in the woods ruined.
The Rock Golf Club & Resort
Played On 04/06/2020A GREAT value
I play The Rock once or twice a week. Always have an enjoyable round. Love that if it is not too busy, the staff will allow you to tee off earlier than your tee time. Greens are looking really good.
Championship at Hollybrook Golf & Tennis Club
Played On 04/17/2019A pleasant surprise
Wonderfully maintained course and surrounding areas. The elevated greens imposed a little extra challenge, but most greens offered sufficient landing areas. Greens and bunkers in good condition. Heading back in five days to play another round!
Thanks for the 4-star review, we're glad to hear you enjoyed your time at Hollybrook! We look forward to seeing you again soon.
Cleghorn Golf & Sports Club
Played On 07/12/2018Great track for a great price!
What a bargain!. My wife and I paid the Hot Deal $18 to play. The regular rate for the week was $20. TAKE THE DEAL!!! This is a very well maintained course with great scenery. The aerated greens were not a big deal given the excellent condition of the rest of the course. Challenging layout but certainly fair. We played in about 3 hours as there were very few on the course. Gem of a course!
Oconee Country Club
Played On 06/03/2018excellent value
I have played Oconee several times over the past four years and the condition of the course has never been better than when i played recently. Although some of the holes on the front nine are not my cup of tee, the back nine layout is both fair and challenging. The staff was great, allowing us to tee off about 40 minutes prior to the hot deal tee time I had secured. The rates here are always good; the hot deal rate (in this case $1 per hole) made this round an absolute steal.
Oak Hollow Golf Course
Played On 09/15/2017A Dye Delight
Oak Hollow offers a challenging but fair round in a beautiful setting. The course, especially the greens, is in excellent condition. Although I booked the round at an $32 rate, the gentleman in the shop gave me the senior rate of $28. An absolute bargain. My wife thoroughly enjoyed the round as well.
Brasstown Valley Resort
Played On 08/29/2016North Georgia Beauty
Even if your golf game is off, you will enjoy the four hours spent in this beautiful area. The course itself is well maintained and challenging enough without eliciting a constant string of invectives. The staff is very attentive and polite without being intrusive. And the scenery is breathtaking; because there are very few man-made structures visible during the round, you really get the sense of being out in the wilderness. Look forward to more rounds at Brasstown.
Meadow Lakes Golf Course
Played On 09/05/2015A high desert gem!
Before you play, take a ride to the top of the butte that overlooks the course: this will whet your appetite for a wonderful round at Meadow Lakes. I have played on hundreds of wonderful courses all over the country and, for the money, this was a real beauty. The greens were outstanding, fast and true. The rest of the course was in excellent condition.Even the sand in the bunkers was above the norm! It may not be the most challenging, but it is a great place to take your spouse and the kids for a day of golf.
White Horse Golf Club
Played On 08/31/2015Nice day in the woods
We had the whole course to ourselves. In that sense, it was a wonderful round. Every hole is a separate entity - another nice aspect. However, some of the walking required from cart to green was difficult for those of us over 60. Many holes look more daunting than they actually are; if you select the smart club off the tee, there is usually plenty of landing area.
Nobody there to get clubs out of the car or load them on the cart -- thought that was pretty unusual for such a nice place.
Cummings Cove Golf & Country Club
Played On 08/26/2014Well maintaine course and clubhouse.
This course was a pleasure and a challenge. I took the advice of others on this site and played the back tees. This certainly made some of the holes (especially some of their long par threes) a real test. Some great views help to take the sting out of those wayward shots. The golf shop and dining areas are fresh, bright, and airy. The staff were particularly friendly and helpful.
The only issue might be the slow play: lots of retiree foursomes not in any particular hurry. OK for me since I'm one of them!
The Waynesville Inn Golf Resort & Spa - Dogwood/Blue Ridge
Played On 08/25/2014Short, relaxing
My wife and I played Carolina and Dogwood. Dogwood is a bit hillier but quite short; I played back tees and found many lob wedges as second shots on the par fours. Course in very good condition and they are pretty lax about which courses you play, and they will let you stop for lunch after nine and then resume play. A great "date" track.
South/North at Etowah Valley Country Club & Golf Lodge
Played On 08/16/2014Not very interesting, but enjoyable.
The tees and fairways are in pretty rough shape. The fairways are pretty hard so you get a lot of roll, unusual for the typically soggy mountain courses. My wife liked the relative flatness of the south and west courses. A nice break from some of the cliffhanging shots you get on many other courses in the area.
A surprising treat.
I enjoyed the heck out of this course. The views are so stunning, it's easy to put that last shank behind you. Although a bit noisy, the gas carts are a must as their is a lot of climbing. The cart paths on the front nine are in bad need of repair; if you have a bad back, beware. However, the back nine opens up and the going, both on the course and on the cart paths, is much smoother.
The greens were in excellent condition and the tees and fairways, especially on the back, were in better shape than reviews seem to indicate.
My wife was worn out by the course, but I loved it.
Connestee Falls Golf Course
Played On 08/13/2014Enjoyable mountain course
Pretty decent landing areas for a mountain course. Fairways in good condition and greens very good. Each hole offered a secluded feeling: other holes not visible in most cases. Not the punishing side hill lies and steep uphill climbs that characterize other courses in the area.
