If you are local you know this course had difficultly with the cold winter and lost some fairways. They have been up front about it and keeping you up to date. I played it for the first time this year and it was in great shape. Going back in 3 days.

Please people fix your divots. I think I fixed 2 on every green that were not mine.

I was asked to play with some friends who got a reciprocal rate, we played on a Monday morning, walk up rate of $85 seems very high for this course. No gps , range balls not included, every bunker needed to be raked. They had lots of workers out mowing , greens were good , the wind was brutal.
We were only ones eating afterwards and I ordered a turkey Rueben and they had no thousand island dressing.

Cart attendant was very friendly, I would play again but use golf now for a much better rate

I called on 7/4 trying to get out as a single. They said come out on but no guarantees. I arrived and checked in, the staff took me out and introduced me to starter and gave me a free token for range will I waited. I realize it was going to be busy and was not getting my hopes up. But I was out in less than 40 minutes. Front nine is way easier than the hilly back 9. I was paired with 2 members who could not have been nicer. I understand Davis Love group is coming in to totally remodel the course in the fall. I will definitely try it if I end up back in Charlottesville .

Having heard the fairways were lost last year, This is first time in 2 years I have played it. The greens were in great shape. Fairways also.. except #7 which was aerated. The rough is tough. The grass around the bunkers does not allow balls to roll to bottom which gives the course some teeth. Will be back again. We made a friend on 18 fairway.

I was staying at Omni Hotel. I wanted to try Long Point but found out it was Ladies club tournament. I must say I was impressed with the course conditions as it poured rain most of the night and we were off the cart path. I played saturday also. both rounds were finished in 3.5 hours. The last three holes are spectacular. What a way to finish.

I was able to store my clubs between rounds. Enjoyed lunch at the grill. Highly recommend.

I drove from Maryland to SC to visit my son. We played as a twosome on a Friday afternoon tee time 2:20. there was a five some in front of us and it was not the only 5some on the course. On the 16th tee they let us play through... really. We did finish in 4 hours. The greens were the worst greens I have ever played on in 25 years of golf. they had no grass on them. It was like a spongey surface painted green. There is no rough , all the cart paths have roots growing under them. Overheard at check in.. How are the greens. Attendant says.. "Honestly I have no idea." Not a good response.

I did enjoy time with my son but I would never go back willingly.

After reading several reviews I was expecting a long round. Almost everyone complained of the pace of play.To my surprise we played in three hours and 40 minutes. I was also expecting treacherous greens which was the case. When you play any course that that charges $100 a round you also expect not to have to pay extra for range balls, there is no GPS there were no towels in the cart, the cart was torn and taped . They do have a beverage cart. Starter was very friendly and knowledgable, the check in guy was snarky after we asked if Florida residents or seniors get a discount. My biggest complaint was everytime I had a putt with in 5 -10 feet of the hole you could see every old hole location. See photo

My parents moved into this community. My first time on the course. this course gets 400 rounds a day in prime season. Fairways are wide and fast, greens are true and you would never know a hurricane came through recently.

Played in a charity scramble, first time on course. Surprising nice layout. Almost got beaned twice on the holes that run parallel. No one yelled 4.
Carts are old.. no windshield, no bag cover if it rains. No GPS.
Range was grass. Balls have seen better days. Fairways are generous but 3 times I hit them and ball rolled into rough. Gotta know which side to play too. Would love to play my own ball around this track.

Was set to go out as a single at 7:10 am on a Sunday, missed the sign to turn into clubhouse as it was still dark, got there to find out range was a shuttle ride away , now I did not have time to use complimentary bucket, got sent out to first tee ( got paired with another single)only to have to wait in fairway as they were still cutting green and spraying it , staff was very helpful and always offering water and ice. Loved the ruins , all greens were true and fast even with the dew. Played in 3.5 hours, has GPS and upon conclusion of roundness they' offered complimentary shoe shine but no one was in locker room to do it . Frustrated with my play I asked if I could still go hit my bucket and they did arrange for it, grass range but balls were in awful condition. To make it a truly wonderful experience I wish I knew range was not on course,and they should have held us till 7:20 and they need new range balls , I will be back to try other 3 courses

Love this course. On the reservoir, no houses, peaceful
they got good control of the geese now. greens came in great after aeration. roll true, bit slower than average. you can walk on weekend mornings. get off by 9 otherwise 4.5 -5 hours on weekend.

When you pay the walk up rate of $149 your expectations tend to be high. on arrival from the airport to the course I found out that the range is at the true blue course for which you have to get back in the car and drive over too. They do offer a short game area however you have to bring your own balls and guys are hitting in every direction possible . We had the first afternoon tee time after a morning tournament and were warned by the staff that they were running behind . They put us off on 10 hoping The pace would be faster . The front nine plays much easier than the back ,course conditions were excellent, there is no GPS on the carts, they do offer a free app as a yardage book . You need to be careful where you place your Tee ball because sometimes you are blocked by overhanging trees to the green. I did enjoy the Caledonia salad afterwards and was able to shower in the locker room. I would play again however I will wait for a discounted rate

Had a 11:09 tee time. took 5 hours to play, not something you expect in prime time on a Sunday. Worst part was we never saw a Marshall the entire round. Afterwards I mentioned this to the staff and they said he called in sick. Found out their was a group of 20 or in front of us and one group had 3 holes open in front of them. We waited on every tee box on the back. Greens recently aerated but rolled nice. Fairways in great shape. I played River last year and said it was not worth the $125 and I will say the same about Lakes, not worth $75. Should have learned. Kicker was 1 hour to get back home over Bay Bridge. Not coming back. Would recommend at twilight rate or similar.

When you pay $90 for a round your expectations go up. .The staff was great. Starter advised white tees for first timers. seemed short at 5800 but it was great advice. The wind was gusty 30 mph the whole round. The range balls where awful condition, the first green was all marked up thankfully the rest where not bad. Beverage cart on back 9 only, after the round the restaurant was closed but cafe open. The rough is tough the fairways were in good shape. Ending your round on a par 3 over water was a surprise. I am not a long hitter but several holes take driver out of your hand.Will not run back to replay.

Most I ever paid for a round, forecaddie included. It was worth it and lived up to expectation. Truly enjoyed the views and layout. Not for beginners. Caddie helped read greens but also told you where to put your drive. One disappointment was hitting off mats to warm up. For full price we should have been able to use grass range.

I arrived as a single after 5 hour flight. Played in 3 hours and only played through 2 other groups. As expected wind is a factor off the ocean. Spectacular course conditions. Bunkers are huge. stay away if you can. I really enjoyed the trial walk down to the water after my round.

Was expecting a forgiving resort course.. NOT, firstv2 holes fairly benign, then the teeth come out. Greens are fair and fast , take an extra club in as most are elevated. Spectacular conditions. Wind was brutal, service was up to par for Waldorf Astoria

Played as a twosome and rarely had to wait. Took a pullcart, caddies are available $90 a bag plus gratuity. makes for an expensive round. Would have been nice to have a pin placement sheet for those not using a caddie. After a one hour lightning delay we headed back out , however beverage cart and BBQ hut we no longer open. Water was difficult to find. Would definitely play again. Will wait for black to open.

I have been wanting to get to this course since it went public over one year ago. Went out as a single in the afternoon. While all the courses near me seem to be losing the fairways due to the heat, these were very nice. No dead grass or crab glass. Tees where in good shape. Greens were a touch slow as they just aerated 2 weeks ago. Staff is very friendly. I would recommend buying the course card as there is no GPS. Cannot walk or use driver on range. Only negatives. Will be bringing my foursome to play.
