Very pleasantly surprised. The course was in pretty good shape. Pretty lengthy from the tips. The holes are pretty close to one another, but the layout is somewhat challenging. Great experience. Super friendly staff!

Great local course, except for the bug bites!

A very nice "little" course. Due to layout, plays longer than it actually is. Very tough opening hole--but it gets a little easier after #1. The front nine is notably different than the back nine, but both are nice. I was shocked that we were allowed to have carts, due to the large amount of rain we have had lately. The course was very very wet. I feared we were actually hurting the grounds by playing. At $33 (including cart), I don't know where you will find a better value. We were the first twosome at 6:23am, so our pace was fast. We played in only 3 hours and 15 minutes. Nothing fancy, just a nice local track. The wet conditions were beyond anyone's control, so I can't complain about that. The only negative I should mention is related to bugs/insects. I'm not sure if the course can spray or control the biting insects that covered the entire course. I have never been on any course where bugs were such a nuisance. I noticed some Mosquitos, but the real pest looked more like a fly. Two days after my round, I am itching constantly. I count over 25 bites on my legs. I should have not worn shorts! Other than that one complaint--a great round on a fine little course.
The course is also easiest accessed from westbound route 56 or from route 47(either direction). You cannot access from route 56 eastbound.

Hidden gem!

I was pleasantly surprised at Riverwalk. Beautiful layout and manageable, except for the greens. They were in great shape, but tough. Lots of undulation!! My only complaint was the threesome that "slow-played" the entire round in front of me. A ranger to "prod" them along would have allowed me to finish my round, but I had to leave after 16 to catch a plane.
I was also most fortunate to get paired up with a "regular" named Alex who made my day. He made the long waits at tee boxes bearable.

Tough course, every hole was unique

Beautiful course. I wasn't expecting much for the greens fees, but was happily surprised. There were a few easy holes, but there were some very tough ones as well. I really liked the elevation changes. The front 9 is tight, with some precise shots needed at times. The back opens up, but is no easier. Several holes have obscured shots/views. Beautiful setting in the San Diego hills. I got paired up with a nice young man (Brenton) who thoughtfully shared his course knowledge. He made my round much more enjoyable. Only complaint is that I was allowed to book an online tee time for 5:30 AM and it isn't daylight until shortly after 6 AM local time. I'm from the Midwest and didn't realize this. So I was at the course at 5:15 AM and the gate wasn't unlocked until 6 AM. My only complaint.

Champions Course-Worthy of it's name

Played the Champions Course while at a conference held at the resort and got the views to tease me at every break during the meetings. For being in a drought, the course was in very good shape. A very challenging, but fair layout. Most fairways were wide and forgiving, but landing in the rough usually resulted in a lost ball. Course is very long from the back tees. Simply a beautiful course in a wonderful setting!
