Lochmere Golf Club
Played On 11/07/2023Great conditions!
Considering it’s the height of leaf season, the course was in excellent shape and leaves weren’t a problem for us. Thanks go to the ground crews for clearing the fairways of leaves. I played another local course a few days earlier and we lost several balls in leaf covered fairways. Makes the round more enjoyable and quicker when leaves have been cleared as they are doing at Lochmere. One tee box was under repair where we had to hit from a mat but it wasn’t a problem. They are clearly investing in improving their product for the players which is nice to see. Greens are in great shape.
Keith Hills Golf Club - White Course
Played On 08/03/2022Course in great shape as usual.
Some greens still show evidence of being punched probably weeks ago but still rolling true. Overall great conditions and paired with friendly players. Only a few minor issues: bunkers are heavy sand which are challenging to hit out of; played in morning and gnats were out in force which was biggest issue for me and playing partner. Bing bug spray. Will return when temperatures cool.
Keith Hills Golf Club - White Course
Played On 07/07/2021White to orange …
Work being done on black 9. The white 9 is in great shape; the orange 9 is undergoing green aerification with sand top dress so putting is not true on orange greens. It was advertised so I can’t complain. The course is in really good shape otherwise so I enjoyed my round and would play again. Pace of play was good - finished 18 in 4 hours.

Eagle Ridge Golf Club
Played On 11/07/2019Overbooked, slow, challenging...
Tee times are spaced 9 minutes apart which leads to slooow rounds when most groups are foursomes. The course is nice and in good shape but the greens were shaved very close leading to extremely challenging putting. Bermuda rough was maybe a touch too high leading to annoying ball searches in open rough.
So, if your setup is difficult, maybe give each group a bit more time to finish a hole? I was a single who was told I was going off with three other players which is fine except while waiting on #1 to tee off, the three other players never showed. I was on the tee 10 minutes in advance of tee time and I watched a foursome go off 9 minutes in front and the four behind me said they were off 9 minutes after me. Ok, I figured I could just play through eventually. Then I noticed a foursome in front of the group ahead of me. Ugh! On top of that, the foursome behind me actually starts hitting into me with full knowledge that I’m playing at pace of foursome in front of me! Just rude. At turn, I had to skip ahead 3 holes to find a tiny gap on a par 3. Groups I passed were two foursomessnd a threesome. Brutal. Oh, the course has a range.
TLDR: nice course, challenging greens, very crowded with bookings gapped too tightly (9 min) leading to slow rounds. Unfortunately, I will be avoiding this course until they increase time between tees.

Lochmere Golf Club
Played On 06/20/2019Good conditions ...
Lochmere is a fun course - and a great course for short hitters and players who prefer good lies. The greens were recently aerated which was still evident but it was not a big issue and the greens should be great in a week. The breaks were true but getting the speeds right was made together by aeration. Many shaded tee boxes offer relief on hot days but trees present challenges on a few narrow holes. Can loose a ball or two if you go astray and there are some hard pan areas off the fairways. Bermuda rough can get brutal here when not mown but today it was perfect-difficult to advance far if you’re not a clean ball striker which is as it should be. Pace of play was great but that’s likely due more to midweek and midday round on a hot day. Our foursome finished in 3.5 hours with two 30+ hc’s in the group. I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention that one of our group made his first ace today on the #3 hole.
Eagle Ridge Golf Club
Played On 06/14/2019Course is in great shape!
I’ve played many Public courses in Raleigh/Durham area this spring and Eagle Ridge is tops for fairway and green conditions. I’m a 30 handicap and found this course to be very challenging. Many narrow, tree lined shots and difficult landing areas. Course forces you to decide to layup or go for it on many holes. Played more fairway woods than any round this year. Lots of hills, blind shots, and tough lies. Greens are also quite difficult-speeds were good though. If you’re not accurate, course will punish you. That said, I want to go back to try to recover some of my dignity. Pack extra balls for this round or hunt for the dozen or so I left out there. :)
