Great course, Cart path only no warning

Great course and layout. I can see it generally is really nice. Right after the rain you could see water damage. We had a cart path only day. I wouldn’t have played that day had I known. Didn’t say anything when booking about it. We live hour away so not going to turn around after getting there. Kinda sucked but we got a hot deal time and I was kinda worth it. Greens rolled really fast, tee boxes where kinda shot out. Views of the snow and maputnais in the distance are awesome. Would love to play again using a cart

Excellent Value

This course is long with wide fairways. The greens rolled true and had a nice sponge feel to them. Some of the grass is spotty here and there but the layout, hole lengths, greens all made up for anything it may lack. The cart paths are dirt and it doesn’t have the country club feel like others do but it’s value for the actual course you play is undeniable. The course conditions are good. $55 on a Saturday morning, you cant ask for more. 100% returning for more. They also have two courses and I will need to try the other side someday.

Falling to the wayside

I learned to play on shorecliffs and always knew it was a little rag tag golf course but the Golf now allowed me to play fairly cheap.

I have always said it’s the best value in town which it is and the condition is suitable. I went back today after moving away 8 months ago to play a quick round and things have certainly changed.

The course conditions are a joke. It’s like playing in some unkept public park. The grass is mowed in certain areas and not others. The greens have holes and burn marks all over them. Not the kind you would expect but serious damage. I will leave it at course conditions are poor.

No marshal, took close to 3 hours on the front 9. This guy literally finished his hole and then went back out to the fairway and rechipped his ball and putted again. Groups of people just hacking down the fairway. It’s was not worth the $3.50 I paid for the round after using points. It was so bad the waste of time became more valuable than the great deal I had gotten on the round.

Not the gem we thought

Heard this place was a real gem and it was anything but. The entire course was rough. Patchy hard fairways, greens where ok on some holes. Most of the course feels like a ran down municipal but municipal courses are in better shape. Not like the photos but everywhere is blond right now. This wasn’t the great course we wanted and expected. Won’t be back for a while if ever

Awesome layout and great greens

So the winter time plays havoc on the Carlton oaks course. The cold weather makes the fairways go dormant. That being said around the greens is perfect. You can imagine what this course would look like when it’s all green. Beautiful !!

The layout is challenging, it’s one of the precursors to Torrey pines for the farmers open. The course is demanding and the greens roll true. The fairways are absolutely dead right now but they still play ok. I absolute love the layout.

I played two days in a row and expect to play two more next week. The course layout again is fantastic. If you play golf for real this is a fantastic track. Forget the brown fairways and play the track. If you can come in the spring when the weather is warmer at night you should get the full experience. Can’t wait for the whole course to be green.

challenging course but consistantcy issues

This review is about the he courses ever changing conditions. For the price they charge to play this course their maintenance needs to be better. The course layout and the challenge of the holes is undeniable. This course has all the right stuff. The staff in the shop and especially the cart guys where you unload are awesome. Honestly the staff has always been great and that goes a long way in my book. It sets you up for a good day.

My gripe is the brown patches around the course and the Greens are very inconsistent. Today some greens where like shag carpet and others looked like they where missing half their grass, well at least patches of it. Realizing courses have better weeks than others it’s to be expected that it’s not always peek condition but when you charge $80-$115 round you should put some more effort into keeping consistent Fairways and greens.

All that said if you can get a good deal on your tee time it’s a great course to play. Not for beginners but I played with one today. His first round with no time on the driving range. Brutal becuase this course eats balls. 36 to be exact as I was supplying the round. Better players definitely pick up a round here, good conditions or bad this course delivers.

Keeps getting better

The more I play this local course the better it gets. This Our best course for practicing your game. Great prices, you can usually get out alone if you want too in the am. The course itself is 3 1/2 hours to play. It has a great back 9 and truth be told the greens are as good as any super expensive course I’ve played within the last few weeks.

Food- good
Carts - slow
Greens- good contain, true roll
Fairways- good condition
Tee boxes- needs some work
Staff- old school and cool as a polar bears toe nails

The facility is quintessential 1970’s golf club. When you walk down the hallway it reminds you of the budget country club with the old cigarette machine and bottle soda machine. I kinda like it. They will be getting a new clubhouse but the old rag tag clubhouse feels like this is where you come to play golf. This is not a place to impress your friends. This is a place to come shoot some golf because you love the game and want a hassle free time for a good price.

My first review wasn’t the greatest here but after playing here multiple times and seeing what other courses have to offer I understand the value that Shorecliffs brings for the price. Make sure you go in the afternoon though, I like having a quiet course at 7 am on weekdays.

Best tee boxes ever!!

Like I said, best tee boxes ever. Every single one was perfect. They are level, cut to the appropriate height and feel fantastic under your feet. The fairways where in great shape. Some of the greens had a lot of ball marks but not all. The ones that didn’t have many divots where in awesome condition. They rolled true and pin placements where good. This course can either reward you for great shots or punish you for bad shots. If you landed on the middle of the fairway you always had a level shot with perfect length grass. If you land off or near the edges of the fairway the ball will be either above or below your feet. Nice long holes, good rate of play at 7:45 am tee off. I would have to say this is one of my favorite courses for the money. It’s true my hard to beat the value on this course when you use online booking apps. I wish it wasn’t 50 minutes away. I would play this course 2 times a week if it was my local course. Good job to the staff at the vineyard, also the breakfast burrito I had was awesome. I’m very pleased and look forward to returning.

what a difference a week makes

Played here last week and the conditions where pretty good. Played again today and they must have had a tournament or something. The greens where tore up and the fairways where not as good as last week. This course can eat balls. Food is great but took longer than expected today. Still a great value and the pace of play is always good. Needs a few weeks possibly to get back to optimal conditions but I would still play here even with rough greens.

Nice open fairways

This course is not particularly challenging. It does however allow you to open up and drive some hard balls without fear of loosing them. Nice open layout, pretty good conditions. Feels like a municipal course but slightly better. IT makes for a good day of golf but not memorable. I will be back for sure and recommend playing here. There are goods deals but also other courses that stand out in the area. It’s with playing

Get what you pay for but not really

Very small pitch and put course, great for kids. Pace was so slow that I almost lost my mind. For me it was not enjoyable. My son was playing for the first time as where many other kids in front of us. With direction from their parents the kids all did well in keeping pace but the guys in front of them where aweful. It’s such a tiny course all the tee boxes and greens are literally next to each other. I’m not trying to bomb 200 yard green landings with people standing right next to it. We got 8 holes done in 2 1/2 hours. Remember these are all par 3 holes with one 312 yard. It’s hard to even play when you are cold and not swinging most of the time. Bucket of balls is better, $9.00 on GN would be good value if you could at least play in peace and not have two groups behind you waiting at every tee. People just roll right past you looking for an open box. It’s comical and won’t be returning even for $9.00

What a Gem, I’d like to keep it secret.

Suggested by my cousin as a good meeting point this little track is sure to deliver. I started my day with a burger from the cafe and it was awesome. Fresh ground beef hand made patties, fries where excellent $10, can’t beat it. The course is hidden behind a mountain and surrounded with nice homes. This is so far out of the way it’s hardly played. We where able to play as fast or slow as we wanted. We teed off at 11:30 and had nobody in front or behind for at least an hour. The course is challenging from the black. It’s nice and green, the fairways are in good shape, greens are really nice and tight. The bunkers are a joke and the tee boxes are totally soaked in some areas. This is what makes this course fantastic though. It’s not perfect, it’s not close to anyone, it’s $25 on golf now and it’s absolutely magnificent for $25. The value is there, the ability to actually enjoy a course and even tee off a few balls becuase nobody is waiting. The layout is a little wacky and they have a cheesy range but this will be a regular stop for me. It’s everything you need to have a feel good day of playing golf. Price, beauty, good food, no people, powerful carts and a bit challenging from the black for an average golfer with some power. Go for it, this is a neat place

Hackers Paradise- Just make sure not to hit homes

This is a hackers paradise, the cheap local course you can pick a round anytime and get it done for $18 on Golf Now. Driving range is short, balls are toast, putting area will work, chipping area not fancy but works. Kinda of a weird place, old school dive club, not much changed. The course conditions are average for a budget course. The greens where really good on some holes. You have to ride thru drainage tunnels which is odd and drive down what looks like horror movie alley ways at times, you have to remind yourself it’s a million dollar neighborhood. There are a few open ca fairways you can let loose and some narrows you have to get it right. Not much of a challenging course unless you are the challenge then it’s plenty challenging. Pace of play was great the first 9 and the back 9 was a traffic jam. I hear that’s the norm for that course. Oh yeah I almost forgot, the two best holes have been shut down for structural issues from the mountain homes above. They had to create two additional holes so they took two par 5 and simply cut the grass low and circular, stuck a pin in them and presto, there’s hole 12, lol. This is an option for cheap mid week play or wanting to get real time practice for the price of a bucket of balls.

Fantastic!!! My Local Course

I had a great time playing talega. This is the closest course to my home and it was perfect. I know they had seeded and punched the greens months ago based on reviews. It was perfect when we where there. Everything was green and lush, the greens where impeccable that day. Tight and true. The carts are good, the directions are good, gps is pretty accurate. Lots of hazards on each hole, nice open fairways to punch the ball. Rate of play good, I like to tee off around 11:30-12:40 so there is naturally less players but still had some waiting, 4 hours so not bad. It’s not a cheap course but $40 with GN I feel like it’s worth playing and will be back time and time again.
