Welcome break from quarantine... unique course

This course was unique and interesting, even for the Northeast. It’s a par 69 course, with some shorter holes on the front... and more typical distances down the back. The course is maintained well enough from fairways through greens, but the tee boxes could definitely use work. The bunkers are hard to judge in the corona virus world... seemed fine. The course is tight, with some holes using white stakes to separate one hole from another. Spraying a drive into the next fairway can be a 2 stroke penalty, whereas courses with more room don’t seem to have this issue. The course is working with what it’s got, and I prefer this solution to simply being a spacious 9 hole course. People were raving on and on about the back 9, and while there is lots of water and some unquestionably unique holes... I still didn’t love it. No par 5’s on the back and lots of par 4 fatigue. This is not an easy course so don’t be fooled. But you can still shoot 20 over par and technically be in the 80’s... so idk take what you will from that.

All in all I would play here again if asked to. I probably won’t seek it out, there are other courses I might prefer at the $40-50 price point. Just my opinion, I could see why some would be loyal fans of the course.

February Golf for a guy from CT

It's tough to be even a little critical of a course in February... especially considering I come from CT! This course seemed quite nice and I'm excited to come back when the grass is green! Nice layout

Nice Day, Good Golf

Came here towards the end of the season and enjoyed beautiful Saturday morning weather and great golf for a reasonable $48. Looking forward to prices dropping more, as Fall has arrived. Anything under $50 as long as playing conditions are pleasant, and this is a good deal on a weekend. Weekday nights I would try and get in under $35. Nice layout, can put up solid scores. Great course to warm up with if you have an upcoming outing or something.

Great Day at the Links

My friends and I love this course. It's an hour away from where we live and we still love the opportunity to get up there and play 18. Now that the tee times are dropping into the $40 range with time to get 18 holes in... you'll be seeing more of us. My one buddy is the most particular about where we play, and this is the only course out of 23 that we've played in the CT and NY areas this season, which he has said he would be a full time member at. It's challenging, well kept, long enough... it's just great. the key is not overpaying to play, and at around $40 this is a great value. The food was fantastic as well, I got the pulled pork flatbread which was truly incredible.

My favorite course strikes again!

I don't know what it is about this course... but it's totally my favorite ! I golf 2-3 times a week, mainly utilizing the phone app's for better prices. Sometimes this course can be found for insanely cheap tee times, while other times I just have to do my best to convince my friends to pay a little more for some higher quality golf. The course is an hour drive from our town, but we still come up pretty frequently. The layout of the 27 holes is unlike other courses in the area, including CT. Lots of dog legs to the left, and lots of just interesting green and sand locations. The pin locations were not easy this past weekend, but were different than other times we've played the course and changed the holes to a large degree. I really enjoy this course, the conditions are always great, and the greens are among my favorite. Pace of play has never been an issue for us here whatsoever... the only thing we have to account for is how difficult it is to leave without deciding to play an extra 9 holes! Great experience, Great Course.

Nice course, oddly slow this Saturday

Played Richter with my buddy whom I play with weekly. It's been a couple of months since we found a deal worth playing Richter for. We tee'd off at 3:06 and started with a great front 9. The back got a little out of hand with a rude 4-some in front of us who refused to let our very fast 3-some play through. We had to wait every single hole, and not once did a ranger or anyone from the course happen to come by. If they had we certainly would have mentioned that they should be letting us play through! Aside from that (very very annoying since the course was not that busy) the conditions and everything was as expected. This is a nice course, and is fun to play for the right price. But to play a 5 hour round when it was almost empty out there, all because of one rude group in front of us... was a bitter taste in our mouths. Wish they did a better job of monitoring their course and pace of play

Great Course, Starter almost ruined the day

So we tee'd off and played 9 holes (my buddy and I booked a tee time, and were matched with another double). We played 9 holes without issue and then came around the bend to begin our next 9 holes. The starter told us that we were playing Fairways instead of Meadows... the double who was with us had bee very clear that they had signed up to play Meadows and not Fairways... so they were not pleased at all. They explained that they had specifically requested Meadows instead of Fairways, and I was actually behind them when they were checking in... and I can verify this. So the starter proceeded to argue with the two guys and tell them that they showed up late, etc. The 2 gentlemen told the Starter that they were not late, and had been asked to tee of slightly later to help with the pace of play, etc. They just made it very clear they did not like the Fairways course. So the Starter, inexplicably, split up our foursome for the day, and started us off on different courses. This meant that my friend and I were sandwiched in between two other foursomes, and the back nine was literally twice as long as the front. I thought the Starter handled it pretty horribly. He was a younger kid and not a veteran of the golf course. It definitely screwed up our flow, ruined the nice chemistry we had developed within our foursome, ruined the competition we had going for the day, and left a bitter taste in our mouths after playing a beautiful nine holes. Would go back for the same price, but definitely think that this situation should not have played out as it did, this course is too nice to have unprofessional starters.

Beekman has stepped it up this year

Played Beekman for the 4th time this season, and had a great day of golf. Had car problems and the Starter had zero problem getting us out on the course when I arrived. We decided to stay and play 27 holes as the pace of play was moving great and we were enjoying our round. The course is in much better condition than years passed, and while the greens were starting to show some use this time, they are still miles ahead of last year to my memory. Only 2 things I would mention as negatives this time was that the 9 hole replay rate was the same as the "as many holes as you want" 4 p.m. rate... so we didn't really make out all that well on pricing out the replay (would have been cool if it was just half as much as original round). Also, ordered 2 hot dogs from the restaurant, and my buddy and I actually threw them away after one bite each. The hot dogs were cold cold cold. Cheese on top did not melt even slightly, and they were honestly just really gross. But the golf was great, and that's what we're here for right?

Thank you for the review. We are so glad you were able to get out on the course after your car problems. We hope you enjoyed all 3 nines, so happy you had time to play them all. We will take a closer look into our F&B and see what happened here. Thank you for making us aware of the situation and we hope to see you again in the near future.

Very nice course, tremendous value

I really enjoyed playing this course, it was my first time and I live in the CT area. The layout was great and the course was challenging. The distances were legit even from the whites. Really I felt like the layout of this course was the best thing it had going for it, not that the conditions or anything else were lacking. But the layout was interesting and different, and there was quality hole after quality hole. Having read the reviews prior to playing I was not at all disappointed. We do have a course or two in CT that definitely live up to the course conditions here, but this course had a nicer design. I was not like "oh my god" blown away by course conditions, but for the value I was extremely impressed. Really can not beat the price that I got to play this course, I think it was about 28 dollars. For that, book immediately.

Maybe my favorite course

Apple Greens is a gem. This year was my first time playing the Apple Greens courses, but I've played all 3 different nine hole layouts a couple times now. The course is great, with a fun layout and design, and terrific upkeep. If you've played Lyman Orchards in the past this is much like that course, only in my opinion it may be a half step up. Apple Greens has well manicured fairways and greens, and the orchards are a blast to contend with. The prices you find for this course are all over the place... I personally try not to pay more than 45 to play, and it is possible from time to time. I've gotten on this course for $28 and that is a tremendous value. Can't wait for the next opportunity to get out. Oh and the staff is amazing... they helped me find my phone which had fallen out of my bag on the course. Took us 2 full days, but I now have my working cell phone back in my possession!
