Holiday Hills Resort and Golf Club
Played On 08/13/2014A good round for a traveller
I had a very enjoyable round at Holiday Hills. I also thought that the booking through Golfnow was easy peasy and well worth the time to sign up and enjoy the discount. I used rental clubs, a solid set of Ping standards and purchased a sleeve of balls and a souvenir HH logo ball as back up. I wasn't intending to play on my short trip so I didn't have my glove, but wore a light duty work glove which worked great!
Happily I was joined by a resident and frequent player of the course, Don, who was great company and certainly a fun partner with great course knowledge. Very helpful for some of the blind spots. Travis in the Pro Shop was accommodating to my late start and I am thankful that arrangements were made so I could finish the round of 18 and get the rental clubs back to him.
I will say this, I am from Los Angeles and I am always happy to meet folks and enjoy the kindness of strangers and yesterday was no exception here in Branson at Holiday Hills. A very enjoyable round, I played pretty well and enjoyed the challenge of a few of the holes. The fairways are indeed narrow and more than once I found myself playing off of an adjoining fairway, sometimes to an advantage.
My only complaint: The lounge closed pretty early (5pm) so we could not get our 10th hole cold beer as we passed by the clubhouse, as well as our 19th hole refreshment to part company and enjoy that age old fellowship around the
"watering" hole.

I felt it necessary to post my more positive review as this is my local course now and I always enjoy my round here, either as a walk on single paired up with some very cool players, recently from France, or as a foursome of friends with a tee time.
The course has been beautiful this year, the fairways lush, greens tight and well maintained and the ocean breezes keeping it cool even during mid day play. It is a City Course and struggles no doubt with money issues like all of the other courses. Thankfully grass tee boxes
I am totally stoked with the brand new rentable three wheeled walking carts. They did jack up the rental to $3 but worth it as it is a new cart with everything working nicely and room for your cold beverage and stuff basket space to tote along on your game.
Its a long 9 hole with a few long fairways but it is easy to hit onto adjoining fairways. Heed the cry of "fore" - one never knows if you are about to be hit by a ball... I haven't but I have heard tell of such.
Anyway, its prettier, quieter and safer than Westchester and certainly without the crowds of Rancho Park, the two neighboring courses and it is possible to get in and out in just over two hours if you play quickly.
