Will be going back repeatedly

Played on Saturday afternoon after the showers passed. Staff was very friendly and welcoming. Nice practice facility. Great track that weaves throughout natural landscapes. Not many houses or OB on the course. Mostly tree-lined fairways, lots of lakes, marshes and hazards. The greens were very lush and healthy, but slow, ran about a 5 on the meter. Fairways were very nice. My only bad remarks are about the condition of some rough areas on some of the holes. In these areas the turf is thin at best, sometimes non-existent, just mud and weeds, which is unfortunate for a beautiful course. If they get the rough consistent and speed up the greens a bit then this course is one of the best in town, but for the price I paid $29 with range balls, I cannot complain at all. Course is not very long, around 6600 from the tips. Some better yardage markers on the tees and on the sprinklers would go along way as well. I hear the place gets lots of play, but I played 15 holes before I ran into a twosome, who i joined up with to finish. Other than that, I didn't see anyone all day, which is how I like it. Don't expect that though, I hear it gets to be 5 hour rounds out there on a nice weekend. I can't wait to get back out there!

Farewell Deercreek Country Club

I've played this course many times, and I was very excited to play it again. I read some reviews before booking, stating that the course was in great shape.

Upon arrival, the cart attendant was prompt with a cart, but not very friendly. The assistant/pro working the counter was very concerned with explaining to everyone how the members were not happy allowing outside play, and that it was such a great privilege to play here... I found these comments to be unprofessional and unnecessary, as he should have just focused on checking people in. If DCCC was so great, they wouldn't be on golfnow.com with open tee sheets.

There was a backlog on the first tee, which was about a 20 min delay. I found the course to be mediocre at best. The tees were thin, and the greens were about 50/50. I rolled my ball in the fairway on numerous occasions and drew some bad lies in the rough. Overall I was happy to be out there playing golf, but at $35 I must say that I wouldn't pay much more. Country club "life style" is only a memory from the 90's and earlier. The era of exclusivity and pristine grounds are only found in the upper echelon of clubs, such as Pablo Creek and Glen Kernan. To me, Deercreek is struggling like it has for decades.

The cart attendant when we finished was very prompt and courteous, and the cart girl on the course was very friendly. The inside staff was lacking. We sat down at a dirty table, and no one greeted us, even though they were all standing right there. One just shuffled chairs around. After a few minutes, the bartender took care of us and was very nice. There was a moment when our water glasses were empty and we wanted another round of beer, and the same waiter who was shuffling chairs earlier, walked in, took a look at us, and walked off without saying anything. He looked like he didn't care at all. They get 18% gratuity tacked on to the bill automatically, so why should they care?

Anyways, golf was fun and the experience was good, but the snobby air is a bit much for what the place really is. Another corporate club, budget starved with mediocre service, and a mediocre course, with some remaining core members clinging to a shadow of the glory days.

This review should really be thrown out, Deercreek doesn't use GolfNow anymore and the course is in great condition.

Beautiful Course, great experience.

For what we paid, $45 per player, the value is tremendous! There was a freeze delay so our tee time was pushed back 2 hours, but the staff was courteous and very professional in getting everyone going asap.

The course was in excellent winter shape. The greens were smooth and lightning fast. The bunkers were consistent and well maintained.

Though not a very long course, the challenge lies in the lay out and avoiding the numerous large bunkers and plotting your way around the course. There are blind shots and hidden danger on many holes. Lots of undulation throughout the course. Target oriented off the tee, with large undulating greens.

Charming 9-hole par 29

Short par 29. Most challenging hole is the third, 265yard par 4 that's about 10 yards wide, with water in front of green. Hole 4 is a 215yard "par4", outside of that, pretty straight forward par 3s under 150 yards. Great course to go work on your accuracy and scoring. Overall the course is in pretty good shape, especially around the greens. Seven of the greens were mostly poe annua, which is fine this time of year if cut tight. They rolled surprisingly well outside of some bare spots.

Great course for beginners. Has challenges large and small ie. water, bunkers, undulations. Very target oriented with lots of little trouble lurking such as bushes, shrubs, flower beds.

Looked like a pretty good driving range and the putting green was pristine. All-in-all you cant really complain. I played it twice in less than 1.5 hours, shot it even. I'm looking forward to playing it again with some friends and family who are just picking up the game.

PVGCC

A shadow of what it used to be. Great layout in classic Ponte Vedra. Course not in great shape at all but still playable. Play during the week for a fast round, not weekend.
