Hilaman Park Municipal Golf Course
Played On 03/25/2018Great layout, not so great conditions
I really wanted to give this course more than 3 stars. I really enjoyed the layout, especially the back nine. The course offers a lot of elevation changes and imagination in the course design. I also thought that for $20 it could be a great deal. However, the course conditions were awful. Greens were hit or miss, the greens that were in good shape were rolling well, but there were some that had half the grass missing. Many of the teeboxes had almost no grass. There were several times I hit the ball in the fairway and was still hitting out of dirt. I think that if the course was in better shape I would easily give it a 4 or 5 star rating. I would recommend playing it if it were in top shape.
Seminole Legacy Golf Club
Played On 03/24/2018Great, underrated course
Played here for the first time in years and I was surprised at how much better it was than I remember. Greens were rolling super fast and conditions were great. I played at Southwood the other day and I can honestly say I enjoyed Seminole much more
Plantation Preserve Golf Course
Played On 10/08/2017Best Public Course in Broward
I have recently made this my home course. The layout gives any private course in broward a run for its money. The conditions are always excellent, and staff members are friendly. Rates are on the pricey side for a public course but stiff worth it if you play at a twilight rate. Definitely a top 5 course in broward and worthy of hosting second round Q-school.
Park Ridge Golf Course
Played On 09/17/2017The Best Layout
Played here for the first time today and I was thoroughly impressed. If it weren't for the heat I would have thought I wasn't in Florida. This course had some of the best holes I've played in Florida and the course was challenging but fair. Only complaint I had was the greens were rolling slow but that's because it seemed they hadn't cut them since the hurricane, the rest of the conditions were excellent for a course built on a former dump. Staff was great and price was excellent. Highly recommend playing here.
Osprey Point Golf Club - Hawk/Raven Course
Played On 08/12/2017Best/most affordable public golf course in south florida
This course is top tier when it comes to public golf courses in south florida, and for the twilight rate in the summer you can get out for 20 bucks, really cant beat that. Course layout has a nice links golf feel to it, and doesnt feel like your typical Florida course with many elevated teeboxes and greens.I have a few complaints with the staff, while many are helpful and friendly there are an equal amount that are curmudgeons and seem to have no idea what they are doing. Also, if you book your time on GOLFNOW call ahead and make sure it is valid, there have been multiple times I have booked on golfnow only to show up at the course and being told I cant play (tournaments, overbooking, etc.) which is exceptionally annoying. However, the course is great and I can usually look past this.
First and foremost, thanks for the continued support. We are very sorry to hear that you have not experienced the best customer service from our staff. We would love to hear more about your experiences so we can address it with our staff. Please send us an email at golf@pbcgov.com. Thanks for the five-star review.
Trump National Doral Miami - Silver Fox Course
Played On 06/11/2017A good course, but not great
I had played all of the other courses at Doral except the Silver Fox. While I found the Silver to be a really good course it is not the same caliber at the Red, Blue, and Gold courses. The course was not located on the property and we had to drive about a mile and a half from the clubhouse, thus it didn't have the feel of a Doral course (almost every hold was lined with residential properties, and there was a substantial amount of crabgrass lining the side of many holes). However, the course still had an interesting and challenging layout and the conditions were very good (although the greens had recently been punched). Overall I would say if you are going to play at Doral you might as well play the Red, Silver, or Blue courses. Although the regular rates for the Silver course are less expensive than the other three I could clearly see the reason why. Overall good course, but not worth the money.
We're so glad you were impressed by our "out of Florida experience." We have had some trouble getting power back to one of our water pump stations after the storm so in an attempt to keep the greens healthy, they were kept a tad bit long for a few days. We can assure you that next time you play, the greens will be much faster and will make your day that much more enjoyable. Thanks for taking the trip up from Ft. Lauderdale.
