Terrible Conditions!

The course was in terrible condition. The fairways were bare and the greens were all scuffed up. Course was basically unplayable. The staff was terrible - the ranger is an a-hole. And you have to deal with the "members" (why would anyone pay to belong to this crappy course?) who act like the own the place. There are so many better places to play in Scottsdale area - no one should bother to play this course, which is basically a crappy muni track

I Can't Believe They Charge Money For This Course

This is, hands down, the worst course, conditionwise, in the valley. The fairways were bare, the greens were bare and sandy, the bunkers were barren of sand. I was in shock playing this course. I could not believe how bad the conditions were. There is no other course in the area that comes close to being this bad. They should just shut down the course until they figure out how to grow grass. They should stop ripping everyone off with this unplayable course.

Best course in Scottsdale

Wildfire Palmer is easily one of the best courses in Phoenix/Scottsdale. Always in great condition with a great staff. The course is extremely fair and a great experience for golfers of all levels. I just wish it wasn't so expensive in peak season - but that's a consequence of a great course in the valley

Brutally Slow Play

5 hour round - ruins the whole experience. Why are there never any rangers speeding up play?

Overrated

How does this course make top 10 lists? The condition of the course was poor. It was as if the fairways had not been cut in 2 weeks - they were overgrown and uneven in length. The fairways were so deep, I felt I was being penalized by being in the fairway - better to be in the rough where the grass was cut lower than the fairway, The greens were also bad - generally too shaggy, unevenly cut like the fairways. The ball did not roll true due to all the bumps and uncut grass. I kept wondering, do the groundkeepers not have access to any cutting equipment? The sand traps were also pretty bad - inconsistent sand with lots of pebbles. This is basically just a mediocre muni course, condition-wise. It is very scenic, however. Save your money - there are many better courses in the area that are cheaper.

Avoid at all costs

Terrible condition. Course is beat up. Greens and sand traps are terrible. Extremely slow play - over 5 hours. Staff is rude and no ranger in sight. Stay away from this garbage course.

Don't Waste Your Time

Course was in terrible condition. Fairways were bare and greens inconsistent. No GPS on the cart and no yardage markings on the course. There were foursomes followed by threesomes followed by singles, etc. Where was the starter/ranger? Way overpriced given the poor conditions. You would be better off playing Silverado or Starfire if you want a muni style course in Scottsdale - much cheaper.

Worst Course in Scottsdale Area

We had booked the North course, they put us on South course. Fairways were chewed up. Greens had been recently replaced and reseeded, were slick. We played behind a fivesome - they told us the the course allows fivesomes. This course is ridiculous - it carries a high greens fee similar to the top courses in the area and it is really just equivalent to a mediocre municipal course. Avoid this course - you will be disappointed
