Richmond Hill Golf Club
Played On 07/17/2016Overpriced, Tight and average
A very short course in average condition with a large price tag. Some holes on the back nine feel like they were slotted in for a lack of space. There are many other similar courses in the GTO area which are similar but far cheaper. The fact that they insluded some food, a cart and balls does not justify the price.
Royal Ontario Golf Club
Played On 09/27/2015A bit expensive
The 'Royal' in the name makes this course sound posh. Indeed when you arrive your name is on your cart and there are many bag attendants to help. This upper-crust mentality is also reflected in its pretty hefty green fee.
1. On Arrival
The staff were functional but by know means friendly. At check in there were no smiles to be seen or welcomes to be given.
2. Range
You expect that at a high end course range balls would be included. This is not the case. The range itself is fine if not a little short, but there is a nice little short game area.
3. The Course
I played off of the Blues with another couple of guys. The length was shorter than the yardage suggested, but the course allows you to shape your shots and encourages proper club selection. The sand in the traps was very good, and the water hazards are in play on a majority of the holes.
On the down side, ball marks were not fixed and Sand traps not raked. Not the courses fault, but the golfing public needs to have a little more respect.
4. Pace of Play
This is a course where inexperienced player can get themselves into a lot of trouble. My two playing partners found a lot of rough and water, but we were still waiting on every tee.
5. Bonus
I must have found some thirty balls during the round, which is a reflection of the courses difficulty.
I will probably go back again, but will only do so if the price is better.
Enjoy!!
Turtle Creek Golf
Played On 09/26/2015Super Little Course
If you are a fan of target gold you will love Turtle Creek. The course is relatively short, but the fairways are now, and the greens are small and firm. To add to that, the greens have some of the most demanding slope I have seen in a long time. Land in the wrong place and you are off. That said, it is a course your whole family will enjoy, as the length suits all levels of the game.
If you want a course where you hit driver on every hole, and expect it to be in play even with a 50 yard slice, then this is not for you.
I was a single and played on my own, pace was really good until a foursome who had lost there way on hole 11, somehow got in front of me. After that it was 30 minutes a hole. Not the courses fault at all, and as I was way ahead of schedule is not really something I should complain about.
Enjoy!!!
BraeBen Golf Course - Championship
Played On 09/20/2015A Wee Links
Braeben is one of my regular haunts. It is a fantastic walking course with constant up and downs, it is always in good shape, the pace of play is good (early!!!) and it is an overall fun place to play.
Built on a rubbish tip in Mississauga close to the Airport, they have done marvels in its design. Trust me when I say you will feel like you are playing at least 14 holes uphill and the whole time the fairways are framed by flowing Fescue. BraeBen is a great challenge of golf, although not long, the elevation changes are significant and the greens are deceptive with significant undulation. Hit your ball off of the fairway and you are in trouble.
Personally I like to play early as the pace of play at that time is good. With the flowing grass, however, a later tee time may not be as quick.
Enjoy!!
ASU Karsten Golf Course
Played On 09/05/2015Time badly spent
I will not go into much detail other than to say there are way better courses in the valley. It is a course people have always said I should play, I wish I hadn't.
Staff were miserable, The food was awful, the pace of play was nearly 6 hours, and the course conditions were wet and poorly looked after. Add to that the noise from the power station and the airport, it was not a day to remember.
I will never go back!
Picture Butte Golf Club - Heritage/Homestead Course
Played On 08/02/2014Not so good
Rather expensive course with a slow pace of play. Layout is interesting, some up and down holes, and a couple of target ones. Clubhouse is showing its ware, and little choice of menu. Staff were clueless, and totally unfriendly. Shame, as I really wanted to like the place.
Championship at Moon Valley Country Club
Played On 2/14/2013Wonderful, but!!
A fantastic place to play, so relaxed and with a great course layout. The downside would be that there are areas of the course that need beautifying
Greens = 5*
Fairways = 3.5*
Tee Boxes = 5*
Traps = 1* (little sand, if not rock clay in places.)
This is also a hard course to find your way around as there are no signs, and not many yardage markers.
Tatum Ranch Golf Club
Played On 2/01/2013If you want to stay private, then don't invite the public
Great course, superb shape, but the staff made us feel very unwelcome. To the point that we stopped after 9 holes.
If you can overcome that, them it is good value.
Orange Tree Golf & Conference Resort
Played On 1/31/20138 Holes in 2 hours 45 minutes
There is no excuse when 8 holes takes nearly three hours. We had given up on Orange Tree, but thought we would try it again as it is under new management. Well come back the old guys! Course was in rough shape, spotty grass on fairways, and little on greens.
We played on 1 SEP 2017(Friday), pace was very slow. Worst is Marshall "Jorge" asked golfer behind us to hit driver while we are still at fairway. Ball land 8 yeards in front of us. Jorge said that's only way to speed up the game!!!
NO NEVER PLAY IN THIS COURSE AGAIN!
