Dragon's Fire Golf Club
Played On 07/13/2020Not a $90.00 Course
This was my first time playing this course and sadly it was quite the disappointment.
The first negative was the starter. Apparently there is a new policy at the course where coolers are not permitted, although there is no literature that indicates such. I had 2 bottles of water and snacks to keep cool, however, the starter refused to check and refused to let us start until the cooler was gone. Thankfully, I didn't have dietary restrictions that required the use of the cooler or this course would have caused a significant human rights issue. I would completely understand if any alcohol or prohibited items were inside but I hardly doubt 2 bottles of water is of grave concern.
Second was one of the grass cutters. Our tee time was 730am and judging by many of the groups in front of us we were definitely not the first. While awaiting to tee off on the second hole there was a grass cutter that felt the need to continue to cut the grass on the tee box while we were standing there. At one point the driver even got upset that we were standing by our carts waiting to tee off. I don't feel as if waiting a few minutes for us to get out of the way would have made it difficult for him to do his job.
Third, the condition of the first several tee boxes appeared as if they had just run a PGA tour event the day prior to us playing. Considering the extra time the course had to get ready and the fact it was nearly $90 to play the course this seems like something that either could have been done prior to the opening or at least not in the middle of the summer at the hight of golf season.
After the first several holes the course was in good shape.
The bunkers were in terrible shape and if due to COVID rakes could not be used, the course should have a rule for a free drop out of the bunkers as they were unkempt rock beds throughout the entire course.
The pace of play was good, as long as we took a few extra minutes on each hole. We were a 3some riding with a 3some walking in front.
Overall, not a course that is worth the nearly $90.00 to play when there is many other courses within a short distance similarly maintained and less money.
Not a course to recommend for anyone.

Played On 07/22/2019Needs a lot of work!
When booked there was no indication the course was only 9 holes. I could have researched it but it just seemed like it was an 18 hole course. When I arrived to play there was starting marshal and as such a foursome went out before a twosome and me as a single.
The course was in terrible shape and needs a lot if work.
The golf now score card app is not consistent with the course and had the wrong scores for the hole.
Then when I finished my first nine, as there was no marshal, I was caught behind several groups that were starting their first 9.
Overall needs work all around! Thankfully I only paid 18 bucks!!!

Played On 07/29/2018Extremely slow pace of play
Good challenging course. Extremely slow pace of play took over 4 hours for a two some. No marshals out on a weekend to speed up slow play and slow players lacking etiquette to allow faster players to play through.
Sorry to hear you round wasn't as fast as you hoped. Please call us at 1-866-465-3642 so we can look into this further.

Played On 07/25/2018Horrible layout and pace of play
This was my first time playing this course.
Their website course layout doesn't match their score card or the golf now score card /GPS.
Most of their par three's have the wrong distance reading on them. Clubs that should have gone 150 yards were over shooting greens marked 175 or better.
No proper signage directing where to go between holes and some are spread quite far apart.
A lot of repair work being done but no one actually doing it. Throughout most of the back nine you can hear the music and noise from the water park.

There are many courses a stones throw away from this one. This was recommended to me and I would certainly reccomend it to anyone else.
Very hilly so walking is not for the faint at heart but still great for any style golfer.

Played On 04/29/2018Not ready for the season
This course is not ready to be open for the season. A few weeks prior we had a bad storm which is still affecting the conditions of the course.
I was standing in puddles nearly every shot even in the fairway.
The round was booked for cart which wasn't an option when I got to the course. A heads up would have been good in order for me to bring my own cart. Due to the weather several cart paths were it even walkable.
Course should have taken the time to get drained properly before opening it's doors.
Caistorville Golf Club
Played On 07/25/2017Extremely slow pace of play
I was stuck behind several individual group of 2 with no one waving me through. Like many courses this course should have paired up the twosomes to foursomes and done more to stress the importance of golf etiquette when slow playing. I was able to complete nine holes in an hour and then when I was caught up between the groups it took another almost 2 hours to complete the nine holes. The course was not very well-marked and a few of the holes you were required to double back and no real signage to tell you which way to go
Thanks
