Beaverdale Golf Club
Played On 09/23/2017Sharpen your par 3 skills
A shorter course with more frequent par 3s. One area to speed up play - widen the fairway on #6. Could do it by changing the parallel ditch - run it underground thru a culvert. May need to then protect people on the 7th tee from wayward shots.
Need more guidance in a couple of places - for people who are playing without GPS.
Hole #9: what is the lay up yardage before the ditch in front of the green?
Hole #15: what is the maximum yardage you can hit on the dogleg on a straight shot?

Always like to mix in a variety of courses each year to make sure all your shots are tested. This is a short course, but in good condition with greens in good shape.

Played On 07/30/2017Ride or walk
Its just great that some people can go out and walk a course of 6,000 yards when the temperature is 30+ Celsius - however it ain't great for the people waiting behind them. Makes for a long round when their "fitness" level causes them to drag thru the 2nd nine, leaving 2 open holes ahead of them.
Conestoga Golf and Country Club - Goose Run/Moors
Played On 06/24/2017Even open after the flood
The day before there was extremely heavy rain. 2 of the nines were unplayable - 80% covered in water.
The other nine was in good condition.

Most greens have a closely mowed area in front of the green, which may stretch back to 50 yards from the center of the green. Have an alternate strategy ready if your pitching is having trouble.

Played On 07/09/2016Great greens for hot dry summer
There are places where 2 of the 3 nines cross, so watch for the signs if playing for the 1st time.
It has been a hot dry summer so far, but the greens look better than many TV tournaments.

A good course to start your season on, to assess what you have to work on. Won't lose too many balls.
There are some areas where you are moving from the green to the next tee - that you have to be alert.
You may be crossing in front of the back tees of a completely different hole.
Ariss Valley Golf and Country Club - Lakes Course
Played On 08/15/2015Fine after heavy rain the day before
Though it had rained heavy the day before, it drained well. Greens in great shape.
