Slow but Sure

On a Saturday morning when everybody was in line at 1st tee box, the golf course staff was so great in keeping every golfer not antsy.
Made me wait with a smile. For a first timer the experience was so pleasant.

Unfriendly Starter

The staff in the Pro shop, cafeteria were all nice and welcoming....EXCEPT for the STARTER!
I don't know what his problem was but he insisted that the guy I was paired up with and I take one cart. We didn't see any shortage of carts because the place wasn't so busy after all. I have back problems so it is important for me to anticipate the bumps when I drive.
The course was nice in the front-9 but was horrible in the back-9. Probably because of poor drainage design. There were so many puddles and muddy patches everywhere. The greens were nice and true.
But all in all, I wouldn't come back to play here in a couple of years. Slightly unpleasant golfing experience.

We are sorry we did not meet your expectations. It is our policy to share carts whenever possible and our rates are based on a half cart fee. Your situation was a special one and I hope that you were allowed to drive so you could anticipate the bumps. The rains had been severe during the time of your visit which contributed to the puddles you seen. Thank you for visiting us.

A Gem in West Chicago

This is a very nice Links style course right in the middle of nowhere in West Chicago. I will put this in same category of Cantigny and Cog Hill. Beautiful.

It is very clean and well maintained with mostly wide fairways. It has a lot of picturesque rolling hills that require shot making abilities.

The staff are very courteous, helpful and polite. They really make your experience as a VIP.

I would play here again if I see another on "hot deals".

Golf Resort in the City

With 4 tee boxes to choose from you can select your own challenge. We used white and had a wonderful twilight outing.
I have stayed in this hotel for a weekend to attend a function when I wasn't playing golf yet. So to puzzle and add together both experiences, I must say this is a classy golf resort. Their golf staff are friendly and courteous right from the start of your golfing experience. They make sure your cart is clean, complete and ready.
Last fall was my 1st time to play here when there was obviously lots of leaves in the course and you could easily loose your ball. This time I was impressed with how clean the course was maintained. But I would suggest to management to warn golfers who leave their cigars and cigarette butts on the greens. They easily destroy the atmosphere.
Some of the greens are tricky depending on where they put the flag that day.
If you plan to have a golf weekend getaway without going way out of town, this is the resort.

Public course but USGA legit

I have played in this course before it was renovated in 2001 and it was under a different name. I have to say the improvement makes it pleasurable to be on a slightly sunny afternoon.
For a Friday afternoon the pace was better than average and it wasn't so crowded as I expected on Fridays.
Since we arrived 30 minutes early, the staff was kind and helpful to direct us to the starter and he was kind enough to let us start 15 minutes early. The high grasses are what to avoid specially on par 5's where you can easily loose your ball. The greens are well maintained and scenic tee boxes on back-9. These are the qualities that makes golfing so enjoyable even if it's a hard course.
The only complaint I have was the husband and wife 2-some behind us. The man has no ethics! He would tee off while we were still in the fairway, when he knows we are still waiting for the group in front of us to get off the greens before we could shoot. So he tried to push us forward. And when the marshall caught up with us on 7th hole, he was trying to tell us we were behind pace. 7th hole green in 1-hour and 20 minutes? I think that was faster than average. So I gave my warning to the marshall that if the guy shoots again for the "4th time" while were in the fairway, I will throw back or toss his ball in the woods.
We finished the front-9 in an hour and 45 minutes. We never saw them again in the back-9.
Other than that it was a pleasant golfing afternoon.
I'll play here again with my buddy if we see a good hot deal on a weekend.

Beatiful Escape

Excellent weather plus wonderful course equals Beautiful Escape. They closed the red course that day so I played Blue-White. You can easily loose your ball in the high grass but I was lucky that day. Greens were a little fast that day maybe because of the weather plus they were decently maintained.

Staff was friendly. The 4-some in front of me waited for me before they started the back-9 to let me get ahead of them. Was informed by the starter when I asked which way was 1st hole of Blue course.

Will try to play there again before the golfing year ends if there's another hot deal with my golf buddy. So I can show him where I parred a par 5...haha

High Views

The course started great but avoid slicing cuz you might hit some cars on road to the right.
So many scenic views from tee box.
One hole we were looking down at the greens from real high elevation. T'was breathtaking.
Not a bad course at all even after it's been raining the days before.
Will try to play here again.

Beautiful Sunday

It was an ideal Sunday to play at this beautiful course. The staff was so friendly in helping me choose which umbrella to buy since I told them I cancelled the day before because of rain.

The tee boxes are scenic and fairways are well manicured. The group movement was average. The carts GPS is not so bad. But for the price maybe they could upgrade with electronic scoresheet. The marshall just passed our group just once in front and once in back.

I rate this as one of my top 5 courses in Chicago land area. Definitely a winner. When my brother from Canada comes over, I'll put this as one of possible to show off.

Back to Where I Started

This was the very 1st golf course I ever played 18-holes way back in 1986 in my company golf outing. I was so young back then I did not appreciate this game nor the course.
But now that golf "got me", I appreciate the beauty of this courses layout.
Very fun to choose from variety of 4 tee boxes. Gold, blue, white & red. Where red is shortest and gold is longest. A golf course for all levels.
The constant maintenance of greens and fairways were evident as we played front and back 9's as we see the gardeners and workers around the course on a Tuesday afternoon.
All the par 3's are challenging and deceiving because it gives an illusion of farther distance. The wide GPS screen really helps with the distance. Bring an extra ball for the Island's 8th hole...tempting but fun!

Could have been a Great Golf Course

Played on a Saturday when course traffic was moderate. The wide fairways are so tempting for long drives, so fire away when you play here. But the tall grasses on fairway sides could easily swallow and loose your ball. Other than that you could even putt on the fairways.
But the most disturbing golfing experience in this course was the constant noise coming from the passing cargo trains beside the course was annoying. Sometimes when you are about to hit here comes a blowing horn just in time.
The fairways are scenic and wide. Well laid out and perfect greens. Like I said "could have been a Great Golf Course" if not for them noisy trains.

True Hidden Gem

A beautiful but irritatingly challenging course. Right in the middle of nowhere of a drive along corn plantations, here comes a hidden gem of a golf course. Picture perfect, pristine condition and your choice of 4 tee boxes. We played blue tees and t'was still very challenging.

Bring a lot of extra balls for you will really be tempted to try hitting your longest drives with their picturesque fairways. I'll definitely come back when I see another one on "Hot Deals".

Wide Fairways

This is one public course where you can whack and test your drives because of it's wide fairways. It's not easy to loose a ball here unless you get out of bounds in the holes beside the houses, which are not many.

Playing here on Sunday or any groupon day is what to avoid. They really stacked 4-some one on top of the other. The marshalls were trying to push everyone when they knew that the place was packed like a kids playground. It took us 5 hours to finish the 18. The longest i played this year.

Wasn't What I Expected

The staff was accomodating and friendly. One in my 4-some was arriving late so we informed the starter guy to let him proceed to whichever hole we were at once he arrived. The staff was so generous to take him on a cart to catch up with us with his gear. That's what I call awesome kind of service!

But I was so disappointed with the condition of the course. My cousin whose from the area, also was one in our 4-some, told me that I chose a nice course. He told me he was also surprised how it has changed because he said it used to be pristine condition.

I am from Midwest, so what I expected was better green conditions because of California weather. It wasn't what I expected.

You can Putt on the Fairway

For a public course this one is well maintained. It's clean and putting greens are ideal. You can see that divot marks are taken care of on constant basis.

I hope I'll find an 18-hole "Hot Deals" on this one. I have played here on 2 different 9-holes already.

7th Heaven

All views from Tee boxes were scenic, greens were clean and pristine. The fairways are wide and easy to locate your ball if you end up in the rough.

The staff were so helpful in getting you ready for your round of good fun. Also one of the finest golf GPS with scoring that I ever used built in the cart here in Illinois.

The course is very tough and so challenging. So bring a lot of balls if you are same level as player like me. If I see the same deal again here in GolfNow as I got this one, I'll definitely play here again.

Unfavorable

The day me and my golf buddy played, we kindly allowed other people to go ahead of us and they were polite to thank us. But there was an obnoxious middle age female couple who just wants to get ahead of us and even complained to the marshall. And he favored them.
Since it's near the river there were too many bugs. Course needs better maintenance.

Challenging but FUN

Getting there I got lost again by relying on the GolfNow App "get directions" feature. I left my house with 30 minute allowance as the app directions indicated. I got lost! Hope the app will enter the address instead of coordinates so android GPS will recognize it better. I had no other options but to rely on it since the printout of my confirmation does not have the address details of the course.

Called GolfNow and told them of the situation and they relayed message to proshop. Talk to proshop and told them this is my 1st time playing there, they were very understanding.

This is where the GolfNow number is so important to have in your cell phone speed dial. They were able to fix the problem for me and my golf buddy.

The course is as described, "semi-private and pristine" The greens are clean and maintained. The fairways are scenic, clean, challenging but fun. Their GPS assist you not just with the distances but also with electronic scoring that you can e-mail afterwards to each player on the cart. Thereby saving you time to enjoy more golf.

The staff are excellent in assisting and making sure you have a fun outing. I'll definitely be back and will try to book here again specially if I have visitor from out of town who wants to play.

I highly recommend this course.

It's Allright

There should be a note or warning for those getting tee time in this course because of big road construction en route there.
I've played at other golf resorts for better price. This resort's course I would say compared to other courses in the area just comes average. The only plus I experienced are the staff that helps you with your gears specially cuz I was tired after our round. Excellent assistance.
