Mission Hills - Gary Player Course
Played On 01/11/2024First round of the year
My wife and I played this course several years ago and liked it enough to play it again. The conditions have deteriorated quite a bit since then. The greens, fairways and tees are nice and green from the over seeding, but the rough is down to dirt in many areas and the traps are in brutal condition. The greens on this course generally small, especially on the front nine. And the fairways are narrow. You need to be very precise or have a great short game to score.
Harbour Town Golf Links at Sea Pines Resort
Played On 03/08/2018Great time at Harbor Town
My wife and I played Harbor Town while in the Savannah area. We looked at it as a once in a lifetime types opportunity. For the time of year, I thought the course was in great shape. The staff was very friendly all the way from the bag drop to after the round refreshments. The course is very difficult. It was made even more difficult by winds of 20-30 mph. The course demands precision with every shot. Each group goes out with a forecaddie, which is a big assist for finding balls, getting yardage’s, course tactics, etc. if you have the chance, it is worth playing at least once.
Arrowhead Golf Course
Played On 03/03/2017Decent public course
The course had a decent layout, with a good variety of holes, plenty of water and sand traps. Condition was so-so. It is the dry season and it showed. Pace of play was better than I expected. We had a late morning tee time and it took us about 4:15. You can choose from multiple tee options to make the course enjoyable for different skill levels. It was a very windy day, which made it quite difficult.
Desert Dunes Golf Course

I scheduled a twosome for my wife and me. It looked like the course books as many people as possible and just puts them into groups as they show up. There was a single and a threesome also scheduled for our tee time and they split us into 2 threesomes. Pace of play was slower than expected due to the group in front of us. Compared to what I saw in the area, it was a very good value at the price I got through Golf Now. Course itself was in nice shape and on the challenging side, made even more difficult by winds gusting over 30 mph. Greens are large and contoured and it was hard to get approach shots close in those conditions. The pro shop had virtually nothing in it. They said it was getting near the end of the season and they don't carry much merchandise over the summer.
